Montreal Canadiens Season Discussion Thread Trade Deadline Edition
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kotkaniemi15</b></div><div>The more important factor is that Bergevin is gone.* :p So if Anderson cares enough to get his number changed he could do it.
I’m interested in seeing whether Suzuki would want to switch to #37 or #88 now and if Caufield would want to switch to #8. Those 2 specifically probably won’t, since so many fans have their current jersey numbers and they likely don’t care that much, but it is a possibility.
*This is a half joke, since Bergevin let incoming veteran players (like Anderson) pick their numbers, while he assigned low numbers to rookies like Fleury, Suzuki, Caufield, Poehling, Sergachev, and Kotkaniemi. (With Fleury and Suzuki being the weirdest ones because he changed Suzuki’s number before the training camp he made the team, and he changed Fleury’s number after the training camp when he made the team.)</div></div>
I always thought caufield would wear 59 or 13 since that’s what he wore in the juniors iirc but 8 would be neat (next ovechkin)
That being said i personally like 22 on his jersey
As for suzuki i feel like if he takes 37 then we have no more number for “backup goalie who’s staying one season” (niemi, hammond in recent memory though i think niemi stayed for more than a year). But 88 would be cool

Lehkonen was a hard sale too, but Habs got what they wanted, and Avs are very happy with what they got. Same for Chiarot with Florida.
If Drouin comes back as good as he can be, i got no doubt he could fetch a 1st. If not, just let him walk in 1 year. If they extend him, i swear...</div></div>
if MTL isn't contending next year (which should be the case unless like wright, caufield, suzuki start scoring 80 pts) then i believe drouin is traded. maybe they try getting whatever they can for him, similar to chiarot. i see drouin getting 50-60 pts next year because i think he'll get a chance with suzuki and caufield

It just doesn’t make sense to me</div></div>
i think its because of the leafs' cap squeeze. GMs wont pay full price for kerfoot knowing the leafs need to clear up cap space. i personally believe both players could get a first though

im not 100% sure about franchise in terms of heiskanen, but then again i dont know too much about him so im gonna trust you on this one
the value's probably okay, im just very biased towards matthews (as a habs fan)

get ready for "MATTHEWS WILL COST YOU YOUR WHOLE PROSPECT POOL"
but honestly i'd personally be opposed to that deal. heiskanen and hintz are awesome pieces, but like saskleaf said benn kills it. that being said, matthews is a 60 goal scorer, and i personally think he could hit 70 (had close that pace this year with a 67G pace).
to me, if that deal was just matthews i might do it, but im probably unnaturally high on matthews

personally wouldn't be too opposed to it, since eller can be half retained at the TDL to another team and probably fetch a second, which gets MTL a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th for drouin basically double retained
