what you aren't getting is GM's don't care if they're helping someone else if they feel they're getting what helps their team especially if it's from the other conference.

Tampa always finds a way. Losing McDonagh hurts but if it means keeping Paul and Palat you might have no other choice considering cap and Mac's age.

This is a good trade for Nashville and a great trade for Tampa Bay. I voted Fair Deal -- both teams got what they wanted.

Not in the same division.
Not even the same conference (if they still are a thing).
Preds couldn't care less about doing them a favor.

My asking price on Nick Paul was a 2nd round pick.
I would say Mathieu Joseph and the 4th round pick combined are worth about the same, if not more so.
We look forward to having Joseph on our team.
For those who are wondering who Nick Paul is ...
he's the very definition of a working-class hockey player.
He'll become a fan favourite overnight.
Good trade all 'round :cheers

What everyone said about Goodrow too.
Tampa secures their next Coleman for two late firsts and two 23 year olds. They're in win now mode, and their scouting staff will probably find the best player in the draft int he 6th round anyways lol.

Hagel is not only young and skilled. He's on a 1.5M AAV contract for 3 playoffs runs, then still RFA without arbitration rights.
2 first round picks forth that? Sign me up. Oh but wait, Tampa's 1st rounders are likel to be in the 28-32 range. And they get back 2 fourth rounders from a Chicago team in a rebuilding mode, so 2 early 4th rounders. Raddysh and K. weren't really cutting it this season for us.
This trade is a JBB masterclass and you can't convince me otherwise.</div></div>

I agree. This is fantastic for Tampa. Katchouk and Raddysh could be good players, but they weren't that right now. It wouldn't shock me if they blossom in Chicago with more ice time, though, but Tampa needs the right-now contributor, and Hagel IS that.

You can argue/discuss who "won" this trade all you want, but those people saying that Tampa overpaid grievously or got fleeced should consider Tampa's roster for the next two seasons:
2022-2023 : only UFAs Ondrej Palat and Jan Rutta and RFA Mahieu Joseph expiring; $5 million in cap space ($6 million if the ceiling goes to $82.5 million) and 4 slots including the latter two open. That means that Tampa can afford to pay as much as $2 million to Rutta and up to $1.25 million to Joseph and still have enough room without further moves to have the same squad that will defend the Stanley Cup this year.
2023-2024 : only UFA Alex Killorn and RFAs Anthony Cirelli and Mikhail Sergachev expiring.
In short, if Hagel becomes nothing more than a decent middle-6 forward, this is the same team we will see for three Stanley Cup campaigns.
I take the long view and think that Tampa "won" this trade.

am i the only one who doesnt like this trade for chicago? Hagel is super young and theres a big difference between giving up 2 firsts, and moving up from the early 4th to the late 1st. plus raddysh and katchouk are likely depth call up guys
