<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JTBF81</b></div><div>The trade is fine for Tampa, sure it would've been nice to keep Foote, but he wasn't making the roster for 2-3 seasons anyway. Although Vancouver's 1st will be earlier than Tampa's, it's not a guaranteed 1st in a deep draft class this year, where as Tampa's is. Tampa has never liked to trade for straight rentals and with Coleman's low cap hit for this year and next, it drove the price up. Tampa is in win now mode and a player like Coleman fits very well. I'd say perhaps a slight overpay, but nothing drastic. Tampa will also recoup some assets when they trade Killorn or one of the other guys (if they agree to waive and most likely at the draft). Good trade for NJ as well as they are rebuilding and now have potentially 3 1sts in a deep class and several good to possibly great young players.</div></div>
Not gonna lie tho, can't wait to see Coleman and Cirelli working together on the PK or to protect a 1 goal lead. Opponents will get so ****ing frustrated lmao

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BurgerBoss</b></div><div>Bah.
That amount of value should've brought a lot better return...</div></div>
After the sticker shock you realize you are getting:
- one of the best contracts in the league
- a guy who can score (5v5 goals production similar to Eichel, Kucherov and other stars)
- a guy that has a shot rate per 60 second only to Ovie
- a guy with 166 hits so far this season (most of any Lightning player currently)
- one of the best PKers in the league
He's essentially exactly what TB should have been after.
Tampa gave quite a lot to get him, but I genuinely feel like there was no better player the Bolts could add. This guy is the **** we've been missing in the last playoff runs, but has great skills to go with it.
And the fact that he only has a 1.8M cap hit while being a replacement and upgrade to Killorn, will make it very easy to move him this summer.
My first reaction was WTF, but the more I calmly think about this trade, the more I like it.

(NJD/TBL) - Coleman for Foote and 2020 1st round pick
This trade will make me sick for a couple of days. What the ****? One of our two top prospects + VAN's 1st(! Not even Tampas) for Coleman?
He's great and having him and Cirelli on the lineup will be a nightmare for other teams, but HOLY **** WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON.
For this price to be justified, Coleman has to be a ****ing wizard for Tampa, in all aspects of the games.
It's true that his cap hit is great, and will be a great Killorn replacement for 2.7M less in cap hit next year, but still.
This is an incredibly high price to pay, I'm not happy at all.
Also, this trade hints that we are likely to see someone waive his NTC in Tampa this offseason.
And BriseBois saying "I know it's a hefty price but we can afford that" says be he's confident he's getting back some prospects/picks this summer by selling Killorn and

Yes he looked a bit out of place at times in his rookie season...but he was a 19 year old coming straight from Junior to the NHL and still managed to put up fairly respectable numbers for somebody his age.
The dude has a 6'6" frame and is only 20. Give him 3-4 years of working out and filling that frame out with muscle. Rasmussen will be an unmovable object in front of the net putting 30+ a year in the net when he's 25. I think Detroit will be happy to have him then.</div></div>
These are all ifs and when. Cirelli is making an elite impact, no hypothesis.

If TB cant afford him
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Why don't you do a construction showing us all how this works?
Because I've done it and it doesn't come close. Your economy moves aggregate $7MM and let's assume the cap goes up another $2MM. Now spend that $9MM on bridge deals to the three big RFA's and you have a roster of 7 forwards, 4 defensemen and 2 goalies and about $7MM left in the bank for 10 slots. Even promoting the Footes and Barre-Boulet and giving Stephens and Verhaeghe minimal contracts still doesn't get you to a 23-man roster. Try it. I'll be happy to see it, look at it and tell you whether I'm wrong.
And I'm not proposing the exchange shown here.</div></div>

You guys risk that Doug Wilson will have to let him go to a lower price mostly because Jumbo deserves a chance and can't be too picky on the return of that particular trade. That's just my 2 cents on it, but I think you have to kinda take into account that possibility

If TB cant afford him
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Sorry, but I think you're not being realistic when you say that you'll "get one to waive" his NTC. How do you do that -- say "We'll be nice to you when you're in another city"? The NTC is an absolute contractual right and the players and their agents presumably factored it into their economic considerations when they signed their contracts; therefore, the NTC had actual monetary value.</div></div>
In fact, as always, everybody's freaking out over the Bolts cap situation by not looking to deep into it.
Cirelli, Sergachev and Cernak will be all kept.
Killorn will be on his way out if Johnson doesn't agree on waiving his NTC. That frees 4.5M cap space.
Paquette can be flipped for a pick at the draft. Replace him with an ELC contract/Maroon type of deal and you free up around 700-800K.
Ask Coburn to waive his NTC. He's barely playing this season (he is now, because of injuries) and if he wants to play he has to go somewhere else. Doesn't agree to get traded? He's put on waivers. Maybe someone will claim him (1 year deal at 1.7M is not bad and he's still pretty decent) and in that case we free up another 1.7M. If nobody claims him, Tampa frees up 1.1M by having him in the minors.
The Bolts will be all right. And they are surely not shopping away their young studs for pathetic returns like the one you are proposing
