Dubas
Not a fan of Darling signing at all. We already have Hutch/Sparks (though it will likely be Hutch as backup).
Marner....No one has any idea, but I think Dubby is aiming for 6 years, but Marner wants 5, so seems about right. Though I'm starting to doubt we'll get him under 10 at this point.
I wouldn't trade Goat, he's far superior than the scratches IMO. I'd trade Petan or Shore.
Maybe Sandin is ready for NHL? I think he's probably going to be more ready than Lilypad, but that's just my opinion, we'll see.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafs6God</b></div><div>The price is okay but that 4 years scares me</div></div>
He would still be RFA for 4 years. Marner is looking for exactly 5 years form the sounds of it to 'cash in' at UFA, not that he already is going to cash in.....

Zaitsev is on the Canucks
Leafs currently would not have a second (or first rounder) after this trade. I doubt management will accept since we would have no 1st or 2nd rounders in 2020. Tweak the trade just a bit. But it seems like that's around the ballpark of moving Zaits.

Not paying Gardiner that much money. He's not good enough defensively for that money. I would re-sign at most 3 million range for a hometown discount. But FA will give him more. Either way, no team will pay him 6.2

93 for Marner
Nope. Not paying Marner more than 10. We have way too many players at this point in the double digits.
SJ is in a cap crunch, they won't take Marleau.

Lots of moving parts
Vegas is going to want A LOT more than two AHL'ers. Clarkson is already in LTIR, so it doesn't affect their cap. We're not doing them a 'favour'. If you want something, you need to give up something good. Throw in a Kapanen in that deal.
Marner won't sign below 10 million, but if he is offer sheeted about 10.1 million then we get the four 1sts, and call it a day (or match depending if that offered less than 11 million). Whatever the situation is, the Marner signing at 9 won't happen LOL. You're 1 mill too short at least.
All teams say no to the trades.

Offseason moves
McBackup wants to play for a team that has given him enough starts. Toronto failed to do that. Plus he's worth more than 1.2 million. I would say McBackup is the arguably the best backup goalie in the league. (Could even be a fringe starter). He staying' with Carolina.

Carolina Rumours
Marleau has 1 year left. We will pay for the rest of his signing bonus. We can get a better return, probably a 3rd or something after July 1st. Don't need to give them Borgman, and a pick....Marleau isn't dead, he can still play, and be a veteran presence to the young team.
Also Marner doesn't seem to be signing under 10

No for retaining salary. 1 mill is too much.
Also, we can get a little better return for Brown. He's not that expensive, and he's a good PKer/versitile player, although boring offensively.

Add more to Zaits trade. We can't just salary dump them with a low-end pick. Rumours say he's probably going to be packaged with Kappy.
If you want to move Zaits, you're going to have to give up another asset to make up for the bad contract.

Another option
I love signing McBackup, but he's probably worth more (2 - 3 mil). Probably one of the best backups in the league (I don't count 'backups' that are taking over to become starters).
Also McBackup probably won't want to come back to Toronto given that we threw him away for Sparks (which was a move I agreed with at the time.....). He is very likely going to stay in Carolina. They seem to have the cap space too.
If he has to 'win' a spot, he won't sign, and that's going to be the case again this year with Sparks. Despite that, Sparks shouldn't be a backup, and we should trade him. Sorry I diverged.
Also @Arizona contract, they would want something more than just Zaits. (Carolina seems interested in Zaits too). You're going to have to add in Kappy, and get another player from Arizona.

Signing Marner and acquiring Ceci
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>You admit the trade is awful. Why make it? Ceci is brutal</div></div>
Mainly because I can't think of non-playoff teams that have a RHD that would be willing to make a similar trade. I know the trade I made sucks, but it was more of a place holder, any suggestions that's realistic?

Yeah, I won't lie, I don't know the RHD market that well. It'll be difficult to get a good RHD that's still RFA. But yeah that trade sucks. But yeah, I'm already over the cap limit lmao.

No one is going to take Horton, he has one year left, plus he is in LTIR, so doesn't even affect our cap. So you're offering Holl and a second for Kuemper? I don't even understand that trade.

Tampa won't give up a chunk of their core, and a first rounder for one player. I know it's McDavid, but Kuch also put up 128 points. Price is way too high for McDavid.

Leafs 19-20 Take 6
Why trade Kadri? He's a cheap centre, that's effective in the regular season. No team wants him. Every team unanimously hates Kadri, and I don't see a GM taking Kadri in when Kadri already stated he never plans to leave Toronto. Who the hell wants a guy with that attitude? I don't see Kadri getting moved.
Other than that, I like your creativity, probably the better ones I've seen. But that's just my opinion.

If I were Ennis, I wouldn't even re-sign with the Leafs, given that he's been scratched several times when he never should have. On top of that, I doubt he's going to take league minimum. He's worth 1.5 ish mil (given he's injury prone)
