Vancouver's shedding $6.5M in cap and getting arguably the best player in the deal; I think Chicago is going to need some significant add to agree to this.
-I think Hoglander and the 1st is a good start here, but I think Pearson is basically no value for the Hurricanes. I would assume Carolina would want a strong prospect coming back here - they're not necessarily in a spot where they *NEED* to move Pesce, so they have the ability to ask for top dollar. This isn't top dollar.</div></div>
I don’t think value is far off for Murphy but I can understand if these aren’t the pieces they’d want or need
Imo I just feel that the canes don’t have much leverage and either pesce or skjei are on their way out anyways. If they think they can get a better offer then all the power to them

I think a 4th would get it done as well. 3rd seems high but I can definitely see them wanting more than a 5th

Boeser has no trade value, Hoglander doesn’t have much and a fourth..did you click some wrong buttons or?</div></div>
Boeser had little value when VAN had no cap space. They're not desperate anymore after the OEL buyout, and Boeser is now valued back at the 50-60 point player he is on a down year. Hoglander is an exciting young winger that any team would and should be interested in, plus a pick. Might not be enough to get a deal done but the value isn't as far off as you might think.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>alwaysnextyear</b></div><div>Curious to see what Hanifin actually gets moved for. The rumour was that Garland had basically a net-even trade value, so the offer here is Woo + 3rd + 4th, which would easily get beaten by another team. The only way it works is if the Flames specifically liked Garland and his contract.</div></div>
Garlands value went up when the Canucks bought out OEL. The main reason why players like Garland and Boeser had no value was because VAN had no leverage with zero cap space. Now that they have space I could see some more pieces moves for real return, Garland is one the best 5v5 players in the league and Boeser was still a 55 point scorer on a down year

Trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kuzbackov</b></div><div>Washington has no use for Dipietro. There’s no reason to include him, he’s zero value. The Caps are not going to pay the equivalent of three (3) 1st Rd Picks (Lapierre, Iorio, 1st) for JT Miller as a rental. If Miller is re-signed the Capitals aren’t going to pay the Canucks for the right to then also pay Miller. This is a Canuck fanboi dream and is not going to happen.</div></div>
DiPietro has some value but I I understand why theres no need to include him in this trade. Also, Iorio wasn’t a first round pick, he was a late 2nd round. If his value is at a 1st round pick like you say, Miller would be worth much more by that same metric as a guy who plays all aspects of the game, hit near 100 points last season, and has been over a ppg since getting to Vancouver.
Is WSH is serious about Miller then this trade is not a “Canuck fanboi dream”, if their not serious then VAN can get a better offer than what the caps would give. I’m not saying this trade will happen but it’s not lobsided.

I just, as a Caps fan, hope the Caps don't give up that much. Nothing against Miller, he is a great player. Just not a necessary need for the Caps.</div></div>
Thanks, it’s good to hear both sides regardless! That’s what this site is about. Would much prefer to hear your reasons why WSH shouldn’t pursue this, as you did, rather than just “caps pass”.
Glad to know that this could be in the ballpark though if Washington was high on Miller and really wanted to make a push while Ovi is still on his game.

2. Gonna have to give to get if you want a recent 99 point player, and a point per game player over the past 3 seasons.
3. Lapierre is supposed to be a top 6 center. Miller is a top line center
4. Eller is a throw in, no real value but to just take some salary back</div></div>
That’s pretty much how I drew it up too. Iorio has really good upside but it is still an unknown. Lapierre is a great piece coming back and the 1st I would assume is the starter for any deals for Miller. Eller was more so to bring money back and fill that 3rd line center spot.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>All_Knowing</b></div><div>As is, that WSH trade is asking wayyy too much.
1) Iorio is pretty established, especailly over this summer. During the development camp, Iorio played great and really established himself as a potential top 2 puck moving defender.
2) 2023 is seen as the deepest draft in recent history apparently
3) Lapierre is supposed to be a top 6 center
4) Eller is not a negative asset - he has 1 year left and is quite good defensive. Yes, he had a sub-par year last season, but he was dealing with injuries and inconsistent lines (due to other injuries).
The most the Caps should give up for Miller (yes Miller is great, but the Caps don't necessarily NEED him):
Lapierre
Eller
2024 1st</div></div>
Fair enough, thanks for the reply in detail. Good to know what the value has. I don’t think the value is far off of Miller re-signs with WSH, and maybe VAN has another asset going back to WSH to move the needle. Possibly even switch the 23 first to a 24 since the value of each is quite different right now.

Canucks really need a rhd coming back in a Miller trade so maybe if Iorio was kept in they would have to move the first to a 2024 instead of 2023
Also I forgot to mention but I would assume Miller re-signs with WSH in this scenario

Seems like every team isn’t looking to move RHD, but I guess that’s what makes them so valuable. If I posted this for a rhd from LA like Durzi I would get the same response. Just a trade idea, not something that I think is gonna happen

Hirvonen is a good prospect as well. I think a young rhd, a good prospect and a 1st is a decent return at this point. Also adding a middle 6 center doesn’t hurt
