Unless he gets to 20 to 25 goals or absolutely goes off in the playoffs anything over $6M would be foolish. Compher has similar production and is better defensively and he got $5.1M.

Rolling wheel of death
I think Philly came out on top here. Holl may be bad but Belpedio is worse, he's an AHL player. That means Detroit's GM gave Philly a 2nd and a 3rd to move Holl. That's pretty bad roster management when Holl's buyout would be $1.13M or 4 seasons. Does this make Detroit worse? Even though Detroit is down grading from Holl to Belpedio it doesn't make them worse right now since they won't need to play Belpedio very much. That still doesn't make giving up a 3rd and a 2nd to move Holl any better.

Ok i'll give it a try. You really can't answer that with any accuracy without seeing Detroit's roster.
To answer the last question. Even though Detroit is down grading from Holl to Belpedio it doesn't make them worse right now since they won't need to play Belpedio very much. That still doesn't make giving up a 3rd and a 2nd to move Holl any better.

I agree. Out of curiosity, is Helleson better than Luneau and/or Warren?
Like McTavish, Raymond isn't anywhere.

I doubt Dubas does that, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for Detroit either.
Detroit doesn't need any more LHDs. Especially with the way Edvinsson has been playing he's playing almost 19min a game.
Detroit would be moving Fabbri for cap space and Pettersson cap hit would nullify that space.
Adding the 2nd definitely tips the balance in Detroit's favor, but a 2nd isn't going to help us sign Raymond, Seider and any UFAs Detroit would be targeting.

Yeah but then you'd have to consider the other teams needs and most people can't be bothered with that. Plus if consider the other teams you can't offer the same package (of players you want to get rid o)f for every trade.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FriendlyGhost</b></div><div>Actually Detroit would do Armia for Holl straight up in a heartbeat, but Montreal probably wouldn't. Buy Armia out. $300K less than Holl's buyout this year, $100K more next year, but only two years of buyout penalty vs. four with Holl.
Only way it would make sense for Montreal though is if they wanted to actually keep Holl or if Detroit wanted to add a sweetener, and I don't see either one happening.</div></div>
I'm not so sure. What does he bring to the table that we don't already have? We really don't need another defensive forward. With Copp, Compher, Rasmussen, Veleno and Fischer, so there isn't a need for Armia. He turns 31 before the start of next season, he isn't a physical player and his $3.4M cap hit could end up costing take us out of the running for Roy. Detroit needs another good RHD that can take some of the load off of Seider.

Now I agree Chicago might not be the best spot for Fabbri, but referring to him as a cap dump is kind of silly when he is out producing over 80% percent of you team.

By now it has to be pretty clear why Rust won't be going to Detroit.
Detroit would be moving Holl for cap space and Armia has the same cap hit. Armia does have one season less than Holl on his contract, but that doesn't help because we need the space now not next season. Even though Holl has been less than stellar they need an RHD a whole lot more than a 30yr old 4th line winger.
