painful knowing your team will most likely suck again
I'd be shocked if no more major trades are made before the start of next season. Just because nothing happened during free agency doesn't mean options are completely dried up. Situations always change and new players become available.

if chevy has a lobotomy and decides to offersheet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Issue is, you have to lure players that just won a cup out of Sunny Tampa bay playing on a wagon to.... the frozen tundra of Winnipeg.... on a team with a defense made up of DeMelo, Morrissey and coffee lids... in a far harder division.... it's just not happening. With the Aho offersheet, Aho used Montreal to get his deal sorted. He signed below value to ensure it would be matched. With Tampa, the players have no desire to leave. They'll get the money, they know that. Even if Tampa move out Stamkos.</div></div>
Sergachev is a Russian ice hockey player. If Winnipeg legitimately bothers him he wasn't raised right. Tampa also isn't getting rid of Stamkos, you saw what his presence did to that team in the finals. The only reason he's even brought up in trade talks is because he was injured for the playoffs, and if the players see their beloved captain traded because of that they'd revolt, or at the very least play like **** next season. The RFAs know that even if they stick around, the team next year is going to be a far cry from the one they just won a cup with, and might perhaps look at their other options to fill missing pieces on other good teams.

if chevy has a lobotomy and decides to offersheet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tkachinla</b></div><div>Chev to Sergachev: "Hey bud, hope the Cup celebrations are going well. Just calling to see if you want to sign a below-market offer sheet to leave your wagon of a Cup team in sunny Tampa Bay, Florida to come play up in WPG? Anyways, hope things are good where you are, because winter is already upon us up here. Take care."</div></div>
Tampa would have to clear out three impact players within a week to even match that offersheet. It's either Serg signs the offer or he sits all summer without a contract as Tampa physically cannot move enough players to clear cap as no teams are doing teams favors in clearing cap. Tyler Johnson cleared waivers. It's either the big RFAs on Tampa start looking for better deals, or they take DeAngelo/Labanc esque 1 year deals for no money to keep playing.

No thanks from Winnipeg</div></div>
The way I see it is it's more of a 4D chess move letting Vegas give into their impulses and clear their depth in order to sign a 30 year old Dman at the start of their decline. I don't see Vegas being a better team long term when Pietro inevitably has the same fate as Erik Karlsson and Doughty, sharp decline right after signing a massive contract

best to just not trade him then clearly

Hoffman is 31 next season and Hall has had injury problems the last few years. I would hope chevy is smarter than to sign either of those guys to any term

To expand on this, the jets already have an adrian kempe in their system but he's younger and plays essentially the same role. Roslovic and Kempe are both players drafted at center, have seen top 6 time on the wing but haven't been trusted to play center in the top 6 for good reason. If the Jets were interested in using a kempe type as an experiment at 2C, they don't have to look beyond their current roster

That bottom 6 is worse than Edmonton's and Matthews is stuck with two 40 point wingers, with no depth at all. The D core is led by a 31 year old on a huge new contract and Rielly, whose a UFA in 1 year. Goaltending consists of a backup and a guy whose played 40 nhl games in his life.

why would we give away roslovic to clear up perreault's cap and then not even use the cap space and sign a player to roslovic's position that hasn't even played that position in years. just put roslovic in ennis's spot and perreaults in pysyk's spot and this team is exactly the same
