Seabrooks value Warning RANT
I find it funny every night when the Hawks play that when Seabrook is in the lineup JC uses him as a top 4 defensemen even after he scratched him for not being good enough. Wouldn’t you think that a guy that got scratched should be playing bottom pair minutes and not be out there at critical times throughout a game? If it was up to me I’d bench Seabrook for Koekkoek and let Seabrook request a trade or retire because no one wants him.

Nylander and Gus
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>I think Josh Brook is a solid prospect. I'm slightly concerned how Ian Mitchell will take that. He could stay in Denver for another year if he doesn't think he has a path to NHL ice time. I like the target and including Smith. MTL can take that cap. Heck, I'd even take a Dale Weise back so long as Smith's 2nd year is gone. I'd prefer a different prospect of additional picks vs Josh Brook. Nothing against him.
I'm not a fan of the Nylander Trade. I understand your thought process. TOR's weaknesses are Grit, RD defensive Dman, and a backup goalie. I still don't think TOR does it. Ceci isn't playing as poorly as most people believe and Nylander still has the highest upside out of all those people. With that said...as a Hawks fan I'm not a big fan of it either. There's just better players with much smaller cap hits to target than William.</div></div>
Everything I’ve seen from Leaf fans, which is mostly from SDP and twitter, is that Ceci is barley a bottom pair guy. Murphy’s an upgrade on him and could arguably be their best RHD. Crow would allow them to not play Anderson 70 games a season and Cags is a guy that can play up and down the lineup much like Connor Brown was for them. Nylander just got benched by Babcock and is coming off a down year, he also really improves the Hawks team speed. I think if you played him on a line with a couple of two way forwards with offensive upside he would really thrive much like his brother Alex.
As far as Brook. He and Mitchell could both play next year in the top six for the hawks assuming they trade Murphy and sit Seabrook. Plus I think the Hawks would show more loyalty to Mitchell considering he was a draft pick by the hawks.
Those are just my thoughts.

My Lines Against LA

I understand that he’s not going to be a top pair guy right away, or even within his first few years, but Gus is playing third pair minutes and I think Boqvist playing those minutes with de Haan or Määttä could be more effective considering Gus is off to a very slow start.

Defensively, he definitely is worse then Gus. Have you watched the Icehogs when he was playing? I say bring him up as a forward. Boqvist is fast, elusive and has a shot. We need speed.</div></div>
I can't say I get to see a lot of the Icehogs, but do you think he'll be ready by mid-season or are we going to have to wait until next year?

These are the lines I want JC to try. We get the best of both worlds: Strome and Cat together while Toews and Kane are apart, and they're still all in the top six so you don't have to worry about ice time. Dach should develop well with Kane on his wing and Shaw should help that line in the D zone. The third and fourth line, our two best lines so far, also get to stay together. However on D i'd put Keith and de Haan together and Gus and Koekkoek together on the thrid pair. Overall i love it though.

Colliton needs to switch the lines
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Petrock83</b></div><div>I agree we should switch them, and I like these lines, except I would switch Dach and Shaw. Toews and Kane work best when they have someone who will go to the dirty areas for the puck and clear space. Dach is good at clearing space, but has looked hesitant in his first few games. Shaw, on the other hand, is the perfect candidate for that job (more skilled Caggiula). This would also allow Dach to play on his natural wing. That 2nd line may be a defensive liability, but I think Dach has looked solid defensively and could negate some of that.</div></div>
What about switching Strome and Shaw from the lines against Vegas?

It was just an idea to keep Cat and Strome together and to put Dach into a good spot between Kane and Shaw who could in theory play center on that line.

Prospect Discussion
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>1.) Too early to tell. At the time of the draft I was a Bowen Byram guy. I can admit that. I did see a lot of posts saying the COL was going to draft Dach almost hands down, but we'll never know if that's true. I'm happy with what I've seen. Obviously, I like his size. I've been impressed with his speed. He's not going to out pace McDavid or Larkin, but being able to run down another much smaller forward is solid speed.
2.) The Best steal of this past draft? Hmm.... Again too early to tell. I liked Moberg's Friday scrimmage. I wasn't expecting much, but noticed him...whatever that means 3-4 years from now.
3.) The Hawks go pure best available in 2020. Their positional depth is pretty solid right now.
4.) Good question. He's going to get a full year in Rockford and learn how to be a middle 6 player IMO. He has a shot of making the team next year, but keep him with Reece Johnson and let them develop together. He's an example of a guy not to rush. Let him develop slowly.
5.) Skogs was really good. I hope they sign him. That might mean Nalimov requests a trade...or Stan just lets him leave, but who knows. Maybe Nalimov never comes over at all???
6.) I think Gravel and Slavin are the (2) biggest under-rated players in their system. People know about Kurashev now...he was my pick last year and I'm excluding him now. 3rd place under-rated is Galvas.
7.) Solid question and I think it's different for everyone, but that's kinda the answer. Their flexibility. Strome was moved around a ton in AZ. I don't just mean line to line...I mean city to city...coaching staff to coaching staff. In Strome's case providing consistency was key. Also, realizing that if you're a #3OA pick...you should have them in a Top 6 role. Maybe that's Top 6 in the OHL or AHL, but don't put him on the 4th line in the NHL. That's not who he is and those shouldn't be his type wingers. Another example is Panarin. Don't forget that he went undrafted. Yeah yeah, his talent is obvious now, but let's give credit to pairing him game 1 with Kane. There's a reason Panarin gave Kane a Rolex. It's putting him in a position to succeed. Saad next to Toews/Hossa? Again, a position to succeed.
8.) Dach/Boqvist is the answer. I also want to see Slavin at Colorado College and Ian Mitchell. 5th is Aleski Saarela.</div></div>
You were a Byram guy, I was leaning towards Turrcotte, but have you seen how those two performed compared to Dach in their respective development camps/how NHL ready they are compared to Dach?

If Dach and Boqvist are ready
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>I don't think you put Dach with Kane. I think he's much better off getting to start in a smaller role. Look at what MTL did with Kotkaniemi last year.
My lines would look something like this:
Saad-Toews-Nylander
Debrincat-Strome-Kane
Kubalik-Dach-Shaw
Caggiula-Smith-Perlini/Kampf
I don't think you break up the Kane line if you don't have to.</div></div>
Well my thought is that if Dach plays with Kane it will 1) help him grow as a player faster and 2) the Hawks will have 3 fantastic forward pairs between Toews/Saad, Kane/Dach, and Strome/Cat.

I think Shaw on the fourth line just allows the Hawks to roll all four lines all the time and I think the 3rd and 2nd line are interchangeable in this post. I just put Dach on the second line because Kane on the 3rd line looks weird lol

Nylander has to prove himself, the Hawks will give him nothing until that happens nor should they.
Strome is still slow and gets winded easily; that hasn't changed. Lazy is subjective.</div></div>
Sikura is three years older than Nylander and they put up the same numbers in the AHL last year, so I don’t see why you think Sikura can play top line but Nylander can’t. Plus Sikura is less talented and has less on an NHL frame.

Why are you against trading Boqvist? I understand he is a great prospect, but he seems to be a year or two away from the NHL. We could just trade him for a better all around defenseman who is a proven NHL player, and we also replace boqvist with a better prospect in Byram.
