2024 starting lineup
Will be interesting to see what the Flames do in the offseason. Still kind of expecting Markstrom to move, but it'll have to be somewhere he wants to go so not a guarantee. IMO you should pass on Dumba, but I'm rooting for Kylington to return to form.

The Sens will never get softer like that</div></div>
Fair enough. Again, I'm not saying this particular deal is the one the Sens would be interested in; just that if they're considering trading Tkachuk they're going to want a top-line player back.

Frame it however you like. Top line forward for top line forward, possibly with a couple other minor pieces involved to even things out. I'm not saying that deal would happen, but if I'm in the Sens position it's the type of deal I'd be after.

I do. With maybe each team throwing in a pick or two if they feel the deal needs tweaking.

Agreed. The only way VAN moves Hronek is if the contract ask gets WAY out of their comfort zone. I've been predicting for a while on this site that he'll re-up for $7.75m x 8.

Trying to look at it from OTT's perspective;
This is a team that desperately wants to make the jump to being a playoff contender. They have good young pieces and players entering their prime that should keep them relevant for a while if they can level up. If they do consider trading Brady (and I'm not sure why they would unless he's asking out), I think it will definitely be for a comparable player or package of players that will help the Sens win-now. I don't think Holtz + 2025 1st will be the type of significant pieces they're looking for.
IMO the centrepiece from NJD would be Bratt.

If the deal was Hoglander for Whitecloud straight up I think VAN would consider it. I know the Canucks like Hogs and definitely aren't in a hurry to help a division rival out of a cap jam, but Whitecloud has a great contract.

I would be shocked if this team stayed this inactive in the UFA market. I'm not saying they'll go on a spending spree, but adding one or two significant pieces would go a long way to encourage the fan base (and likely Bedard) that they don't plan on toiling in the league basement forever.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Canucks33</b></div><div>I think Graves could be decent for us but the term is a problem in the cap world.</div></div>
Agreed that the term is a risk. But he's 29 so it's not impossible that he could provide value through the end of the contract if he fits well into the team system.

Dont look at this
Despite not living up to expectations, I still think KK has 'some' trade value. Not much mind you, but I'm betting there's a GM out there that would give up something for a young center that could still potentially make that contract worthwhile in the right scenario.

At this point it's so difficult to assign a trade value to Laine, but my instinct here is saying the Ducks are overpaying.

Long term deals for Necas and Jarvis
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>There's no reason to bring Skjei back. It's why they picked up Orlov. Orlov fills in for him in the top four. Chatfield sucks. His entire gimmick is that he can skate like the wind, but Morrow's skating ability isn't a downgrade. With Morrow offering offensive upside too, there's no reason to keep Chatfield around. Pesce's the painful one. In an ideal world, I do think the Canes want to keep him, but the fact there's a cap, he's got a new agent asking for the sun and stars, and Pesce's been relegated to a 2nd pairing D man by 3 different guys now under this management core when he is good enough to be a 1RD probably means he's going elsewhere</div></div>
What's your guess on what Pesce's next contract looks like?

That's a veeerrry different looking blue line, in a bad way. Is there any talk of the team wanting to use some cap room to bring back one of Pesce, Skjei or Chatfield?

Add Tanev and run it back next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dickie_Dunn</b></div><div>I like what your saying. I would suggest making a couple of changes however. 1. Lafferty will want more. Perhaps $2M, which considering what he can do (LW/C/RW and right handed) might be worth it. I'd almost be inclined to move Suiter and Mikyhev, which combined gives you another $6.3M to spend (in theory). Suiter will be easy with 1 year left and a cap hit of $1.6M. Mikyhev might be a bit harder.</div></div>
I think Suter has provided more overall value than Lafferty this year, so I wouldn't want to ship out Pius for the sake of giving Lafferty 2m. There's definitely value in freeing up Mikheyev's cap hit though.

If it ain't broke... Tanev is already a big upgrade on Myers individually, but being able to have Hronek anchor his own pair with either Zadorov or Soucy would make it a giant team upgrade.

Playoff Lines
I really like the look of this on paper, but so much will depend on Lindholm. He's obviously playing a bit hurt, but if a little rest makes a difference by the playoffs then that could be a really strong 2nd line. I actually think the Garland/Joshua duo could be solid wingers for any of the team's centres.

Don't like the Dubois deal for either team. LAK wouldn't want to retain for 7 seasons just to be rid of him.
I don't mind bringing in Fabbro, but I wonder if he's really that much of an upgrade on Juulsen in Tocchet's system.

Three New Defencemen
Canucks fan chiming in on Zadorov; I've loved what he's brought to the team this year and I hope he extends in VAN. BUT, I'm not that high on giving him a 5m AAV. To me he's an excellent #5 that can play solid #4 minutes with the right partner. The hope would be he signs for closer to $4m and he gets chemistry with the right partner on a 2nd pair.

I think NYR would start their ask in a potential Lafreniere deal with Lekkerimaki, plus a pick and/or player. At which point it probably doesn't make sense for VAN.

Ducks to playoffs realistic
I'd say a lot has to go right for this team to make the playoffs next year; bounce-back from Zegras, the kids to make a big jump in development, etc. Could happen, but it's a pretty big swing. Toffoli and DeMelo would be solid adds, and even if they are a little overpaid here the Ducks can afford it under the cap.

I'd be open to him extending at the right price/term, but some other team will overpay for his services just because he can play center.
