Trades with Boston Buffalo and Tampa Bay
Tampa is fine with that. TyJo gets a lot of **** but he's still a decent player. Wonder if Oilers would mind throwing Stalock in there as we'll need a backup next year.

Solving some potential expansion issues
I think Stecher is great and would love him in Tampa, but I think SY has also identified his value and isn't going to let him go.
Sergachev's numbers with hedman are great - in limited quantity. I dont think JBB wants one true righty and 5 lefties. McDonagh goes before Cernak.

JBB Doesn't leave him exposed. They 100% leave McDonagh exposed over him given that they have Sergachev and Hedman on the left. His contract is less desirable for us. TB Needs $$ out this summer.

McDonagh to OTT concept
Agree with what others have said, not sure OTT is the place for him given his age and term left.
I do think there is a chance he gets moved this offseason, due to cap and Sergachev/Hedman on the left side there.
Also, edit - I think you have the right idea though.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheThunder</b></div><div>then what was the reason they always played together before Coleman and Goodrow?</div></div>
Could be because Stamkos was still playing some more center then making Cirelli #3 on the depth chart, and with Palat/Miller/Johnson/others getting LW time, Killorn was on the 3rd line a lot as well. You could very well be right that Cooper keeps them together.

Fair enough, but I feel like part of that is due to him loving his #3 line and he didn't want to shuffle anyone off of line 2 onto 3.

Keeping MCD
I think McDonagh needs to get picked up by Seattle this offseason in order to make the 22-23 season possible. Point is going to be really hard to re-sign that year with his cap on the books. Palat is the guy who comes off the books that year and makes that possible. I also think that Tyler Johnson can be a buyout candidate so we can use a pick and/or player to get seattle to take 27. Johnsons buyout hit is manageable, in 22-23 it's a bit higher but it's easier that way.

If they assign Tyler Johnson to the taxi squad that frees up about 1.1M. With Stamkos on LTIR that gives them room even if Rutta gets re-assigned.

Personally don't think it's crazy to move McDonagh while he's still playing well. that contract lasts 5 more years and will be a mess later on. However, he'll have to waive his NTC...
How about Seattle picks him up & Tyjo gets bought out? Even if Stamkos doesn't stay on LTIR through next season, that's a lot of flexibility to re-sign Foote, a new LD, ABB, Colton, a backup goalie, and your AHL/taxi squad guys.

not bad, although if i'm being nitpicky I think they would swap Thomas for Foote since you'd have to waive Thomas. Burying Johnson for the season doesn't seem realistic but he's definitely not on my good side either lol

He is. I think the only way to make it work is to send Colton to the taxi squad otherwise you're waiving a forward. Cap is super tight with Rutta's hit still there.

Slow footspeed is his #1 downside. He definitely has the talent to be in a top 6 spot down the line.
