Cehlarik - 3rd round pick a few years ago. 22. LW. 31 goals in 84 AHL games. NHL ready. B’s don’t have room for him in top 9.

Sens-Flames trade
Stats wise, only Cody Ceci has worse metrics and stats then Micheal Stone.... I don't think you could do that again if you tried, I don't really see the point in it, especially with CGY taking that Smith contract and then taking back a 1st rounder? Calgary almost for sure reject

Wings pass. Nice idea. You would not get a 2nd out of them though.

A top notch d prospect in the next draft. Hope Detroit turns it around soon.

I agree that the pick is unlikely to happen but other than that I think the trade looks all right maybe throw in another prospect instead of the pick.
as a Starter Varlomov as started an average of 55 games per season every year. that's more than enough games for Calgary with having Smith as the back up. if they were to get Varlomov or a goalie similar to varlomov I would expect the goaltending to be split pretty evenly at roughly 40 games a piece or 50/30. this gives Smith the rest he needs to be effective and avoid injuries while also giving the team the ability to rely on their backup goalie. As much as I like Gillies and Rittich they were a pretty big factor in Calgary's implosion at the end of last season.

Deal with Detroit. What do you think?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SammyT_51</b></div><div>First of all I like Braun and his contract. Second of all I thought they might want RHD that would be good on both ends of the ice since they have a lot LHDmen in their system so it was no for Joakim Ryan.</div></div>
DET fan here. Keep in mind they aren't trying to improve this year. AA is young enough to be in his prime when they hope to compete. Braun is already out of his. The deal doesn't make sense from a rebuild standpoint

I think you are undervaluing AA and you are trying to offload a contract you don't like. Braun isn't going anywhere. That is the best shutdown pair in the NHL.
I like the idea of AA with Couture and Hertl, and I think you could make a deal with Detroit work. First, stop it with Jensen. Second, pony up a prospect and a better long-term fit on D. Gambrell is fine, although he probably won't have as high of a ceiling as AA. Braun isn't a good fit in this deal. Joakim Ryan makes more sense from a Detroit perspective.

I’ll thank you for letting me know that, cause every time I go on hockey DB to check what side a defenceman plays at, it’s associated with their handedness. Right handed players play the right side while left handed players play the left side. Also,
Can you name me defenceman who are left handed and play in the right side or vice versa.

Calgary Flames 2018-2019 Roster & Thoughts
5 stars for the book it was a great read
First three lines are pretty set id be surprised to see tkachuk be as effective on the first line as Neal could be. gaudreau will have two options for the pass with neal and Monahan and I could definetly see a career year of assists coming his way
I agree with the assessment on klimchuk but he will most likely go through the trial phase of 9 games (if he makes the team at all) and if he doesn't prove that he is capable it might be the last time he steps on the ice in a Calgary flames jersey. mangiapane got his 10 games last season and did next to nothing. 0 points and -3. spencer foo IMO is the most obvious guy that has got the ability to make that jump to the NHL. Dube needs a full season in the minors but I expect him to compete for a spot in 2019-2020 (perhaps on the wing cause he's a little small to be an NHL center). we have a lot of on the cusp talent and it is gonna be up to the player to lock down a spot.
ryan might replace jankowski on the third against teams with three scoring lines like Pittsburg or Toronto because he will be more effective defensively alongside frolik and bennett than jankowski will be. making the fouth line with Janks a sneaky scoring line (depending on the wingers).
Defense looks air tight. Anderson might out compete valimaki for that 6/7 spot but that remains to be seen
finally the Achilles heel of the Calgary flames the goal tending. Smith needs to stay healthy enough to play 45-55 games this season at least. this also means rittich and gillies need to become dependable backups. if either of these two things fail to happen then Calgary needs to scramble for a goalie at the deadline. if this means we overpay then we overpay cause this team will only be as good as its goaltending down the stretch. I truly believe Calgary is one bonafide goaltender away from being a top contender. Can Smith be the guy???? I cant wait to find out..........

Only problem for Hanifin is Peters is still his coach and had (probably still has) no trust in him. Good team though.
