Boring Draft Weekend
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldSenileGuy</b></div><div>IF we’re picking up White (I’m kind of ok with it, but mostly as a “Plan B” after something better falls apart), I’d want something like 2 or 3 years at $1.5M per year. Something where if he rebounds, it’s a great deal, and if he sucks, he can be buried with almost no cap hit.
Don’t know if he’d be willing to go 3 years, but 2 years at $1.5M per seems fair since he’ll still have his buyout money on top of it.</div></div>
I would prefer to go 2 year as well but my logic was White will probably bet on himself to rebound and try to sign a 2-3 year deal next year. I would be fine with 2 years at 1.5 AAV.

Definitely a big win for Drury. But with the defensive core of Colorado they do not need elite goaltending. Georgiev will be good enough on that team. Good move for all.

Honestly, with the love Seattle has for the player (voted team MVP) and asking almost 2.6 million retained for each of the next 3 seasons, I can't imagine the price is anything NY would want to pay. If I'm Francis I wouldn't do it for less than a roster player, prospect, and a pick(s). I would want the name Cuylle or Lundkvist attached, value of the player/pick amended as necessary. Just my thoughts</div></div>
Fair points. I think including Lundkvist would be a bit of an overpayment but to your point if that is what it takes to get a cheap, cost controlled center they may have to include him.

Everything im hearing about Barron is the Rangers see him on the wing. I agree they need a veteran LD to eat minutes this year and allow Miller to transition but at least they have depth on the pipeline on the left side. They have no options at center. Need to address that.

All those reasons you just mentioned are why I see buchnevich as expendable now if the return is a center. Offensive numbers from him to Cirelli aren't very different nor are their possession statistics. Cirelli automatically holds more value as a center and his defensive game is better which is why the Rangers would need to add.

With Lafreneire coming someone has to go. Kreider would be my first choice but with his NMC I don't see that happening. This opens up a spot on the wing while addressing a need at center.

I dont see his value as irreplaceable. He does have a unique skill set that you want in a bottom 6 forward but when I watch him I see a guy who is too undisciplined and decisions he makes are detrimental to the rangers. I dont thi k he will ever be more of a 4th liner and if you can get a quality player for him then I would do it.

But it does matter. I think Lemeiux as a player is fine and he does bring some value like you are saying but to me he is replaceable. If the Rangers can move him for something of greater value I would do it. McNabb is a guy who has played over 19 minutes a night over the past 3 years, plays a physical game, blocks shots, and is an affordable LHD until the young kids are ready. As good as Miller projects to be it is unrealistic to expect him to step right in and play top 4 minutes.

I mean honestly would I give up a 3rd for him. No. Any team paying for him is a playoff team. And I have to be real when I say this. If I'm a playoff team looking for help. He's not who I'm looking at, at this point.
I think he's a throw in for cap reasons on a "cost of doing business" at this point unless he's a pure hockey trade 1 for 1 with another guy who's gone bust up on another team.
As far as Kreider to the pens. I don't think it's a fit. I don't see them paying up on a 1 year rental.
He'd have to come with an extension for them to do this. They will probably not have a 1st for 2021. So my guess is they keep this years.</div></div>
A 40 point player to a contender for a 3 isn't that outlandish, especially in this situation where they retain and he costs 2 million. I know he's having a down year but as far as pure rental options at that price tag its not a bad option.

Out of all of those names only 1 projects to be a top pair guy. And none of them seem to be ready for a consistent role in the NHL. Is that talent, is that the way DQ shuffles guys in and out. Now dont get me wrong I think a lot of those names could become quality NHL defensemen but it's never a bad idea to stock the pipeline with talent. You can add depth on the wing in FA or trade market. Hard to find quality defenders who aren't going to cripple your salary cap situation.

Fleury's potential isn't materializing. He is still a fringe player unable to keep his NHL 3rd pair spot every night.
Kreider's value is going to be through the roof at TDL, even more if he agrees to an extension. We are talking a first, a second and an established NHL player (see Pacioretty, Stone deals)
You could ask Google to learn more about Fleury, that's what I do instead of asking strangers. No offence. People are quick to love/hate any player here.</div></div>
As much as I love Kreider hes not getting that package. And all Google tells me about Fleury is that he has good possession numbers but has seen his TOI regress the past 3 years. That's why I wanted other people's input who have seen him play more.
