Considering that the Ducks had a roster that finished with the 2nd fewest points and holes up and down the lineup. Getzlaf is retiring or maybe taking a spot role for 1 more year. They have no 1C, Henrique was put on waivers last year and nobody wanted that contract. I think they would consider this trade as Newhook has 1C ceiling and still 2 years of ELC left. This trade is reasonably attractive for them.

Most laughable thing I have read all day. This deal doesnt even apply to this year. No problems next year either. Math is hard isnt it?

Exploring 2019
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_27</b></div><div>Can't read I take it? ... I said the Leafs have cap room right now. Currently they have $6,240,301M in cap space, add Horton's $5.3M cap hit to that once he goes on LTIR and thats $11,540,301M in cap space.. which is more than enough for Marner. If they want to add more players, then minor cap shedding will need to be done. Which goes back to my original post saying that had over $12M (they did until some recent signings).
& in case you haven't check the news lately, Zaitsev is gone after his bonus is paid on July 1. He's already waived his no trade clause to go to Ottawa. Reports are that Brown is included in the deal as well, there's another $6.6M total gone.. Nylander wasn't even considered to be moved. Nylander is worth more than that. Moving him now and for that price is selling low on a guy that can easily put up 70-80 points.
Leafs are gonna match any offersheet given to Marner. They've made it clear he's their #1 priority to get done. You don't go this far and then let him walk for picks when the team is trying to win now.
Guess you just learned a thing or two. So back to my original post, try again. This isn't realistic.</div></div>
HAHHAHAHAH. How does the crow taste now??? Zaitsev and Kadri traded. Just like I told you. Leafs moving people to make sure they have the ability to sign Marner.
Leafs won that trade. Barrie + Kerfoot should have been enough to get Nylander.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_27</b></div><div>I'm not saying that they don't need to shed cap. I'm saying if you think they're going to use Nylander as a way to dump cap then you don't know anything about hockey. They have the room right now to keep them all. So wake yourself up.</div></div>
Oh now you agree they need to make cap room?? Give me a break here. Pick a stance and maintain it.
They have to move one of Zaitsev/Kadri/Nylander, and that's in their priority order. The deal needs to give them relief, like some draft picks. Moving anyone outside of those three doesnt help them cap wise. So again, recapping for you, Nylander is one of three possible guys, and the least likely of the three. Avs know this, so they would need to make an offer worth their while. Admittedly, what is offered is more of a fair price for Kadri. A trade for Nylander should have more from the Avs side, probably with picks since giving back more salary defeats the purpose.
All this is out the window if someone signs Marner to an offer sheet and Leafs decide not to match.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_27</b></div><div>False. Toronto has $6.9M right now and another $5.3M when Horton goes on LTIR. So unless Marner costs over $12,240,301M (the amount of cap space they have) they're actually not over the cap at all.</div></div>
They would only be 19 roster players with Marner signed. Only 5 D signed unless you are going to just roll with AHL players and even those guys come out near 1M each. Somebody is going to be moved. I get that Nylander is not their first choice. #1 trade bait player on TSN is Zaitsev.
Look at basically every mock TOR on here. Shedding cap is the name of the game. Wake up.

Also, read the board better, Toninato and Greer the 5th line (scratches/callups)

Ummm, once Toronto signs Marner, they are at 85M or so and still have to roster 6 more players. they need to shed cap space in a bad way, worse than VGK. Only possible pieces are Kadri, Nylander or Zaitsev.

You also overpaid Kamanev, Greer and Toninato.
No chance Cozens is ready to be the 2nd liner in year 1.
No chance Bowers and Kaut are ready to be everyday 3rd liners.</div></div>
You must not watch games. Kerfoot is terrible and has inflated points from that top line. He is bottom 6 material. Check out his numbers off of that line. Its atrocious. But he would go to arbitration and get 4-4.5 and that case, I am saying he would walk. If you could keep him in a 3x3M, I would consider that. Oh and the idea he is our best defensive forward, that is the stupidest thought in a long long time. Soda, Landy and Calvert are all better by a mile.
I have Kaut and Bowers as 4th liners. I have 15 forwards up there, not 12. They cant be any worse than Ghetto and Borque so I am just looking for some new blood on the line that will all be low $ contracts. I dont want to see Ghetto or Borque resigned under any circumstances. Greer/Toninato/Kamenev are all coming off their ELCs. They will get some sort of raise. Maybe Kamenev is a stretch by 500K.
Cozens year 1 is a stretch I agree. Maybe a bit of wishful thinking as my heart has been set on a Hughes/Kappo slot in there before those lottery dreams were smashed.
