Ideal Offseason Option 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Arlotti47</b></div><div>What would you suppose then</div></div>
Not trading away our #1D for a non-elite winger + scraps and one of the few experienced veterans we have for a less-accomplished, older player on a worse contract. I mean, people complain about Henrique's contract, but Zucc's is god damn awful.
If we get Byfield, expect one of Steel or Lundestrom to move to wing (I'd prefer Steel on the wing). Keep the D as is unless a trade for a legit top pairing D prospect become available at a reasonable price. IMO, we aren't going to get out this situation with trades. We're going to have address our needs through the draft. It is just a shame that its a poor year for D-men. Would love to knab a standout prospect with elite #1D potential this year, but I don't think Drysdale is of that calibre.

Henrique for Zuccarello is one of the worst ideas for the Ducks I've ever seen on here.

And let me add some guys to keep an eye out for as they come up to the NHL in 2021-2022:
C Trevor Zegras (taken 9th overall in 2019)
LW Brayden Tracey (taken 29th overall in 2019)
RW college standout undrafted free agent Bryce Kindopp
LW Harvard boy Jack Badini
I have high hopes for them all, and we may see Zegras sooner

So we're replacing Heinen and Rowney, both proven NHLers, with Hawryluk and Zykov, both of whom aren't, instead of leaving things as is and bringing up Max Comtois? Never mind the draft picks -- no thanks.

Who Should the Ducks Draft Your Preferences
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bf3351</b></div><div>So pick Byfield (assuming he is available at 5 and ducks are picking at 5) just to trade him instead of picking someone like Holtz or Raymond who may be 1 or 2 spots after?</div></div>
Not necessarily, but drafting Byfield (a better prospect than Steel or Lundestrom ever were) makes either of them more movable. Drafting for needs makes teams reach more, now in the top part of this draft I don’t think you can go wrong from picks 1-6 but in general I am against drafting strictly for needs when in my eyes taking the best prospects available is the better route
And centres can always be moved to the wing but wingers are rarely moved to centre

I'm not as high on Rossi as everyone else, I have a bad Jeremy Bracco feeling with him, Now that may be completely unwarranted but I'd hope we don't grab him. Though I understand what people see in him and he is better than Bracco was at his age, probably better than Bracco is now too. I can't really explain my hesitation on drafting Rossi
I think grabbing Holtz to pair with Zegras for years to come is too good to pass up if Drysdale is gone
Grabbing Niemela or Helge Grans with that Boston pick would be ideal

and short run cuz EK has been injured back to back years and is now in the back 9 of his career. Ottawa was smart getting rid of him. even though it meant tanking a couple years.

Manson your thoughts
ANA does not need more middle 6 wingers, they have an overload of them already, they also can't afford to trade away Manson... this trade is completely useless to them... oh and they have to give up Steel, AND a very early second... take out those two pieces and they still probably don't do it, just because nothing coming back fills a need, not because the value isn't there, this trade would be like the leafs trading Freddy and Lilja for some middle 6 forwards

Manson your thoughts
Absolutely no chance Anaheim makes anything looking like that trade. On value, we'd trade you Heinen for Kapanen and Manson for Johnsson and Dermott, but we can't afford to move Manson given the state of the right side of our defense. (Erik Gudbranson is our only right-handed defenseman under contract for next year, including the farm system.) And we don't need anyone at either LW or RW or LD. We wouldn't even trade Heinen and the second for Johnsson and Kapanen. Rebuilding teams keep their high draft picks, especially when the assets to be acquired don't address the rebuilding team's needs.

Lmao why are you even bringing up the penguins? Makes absolutely zero sense. But since you did, they also faced Washington how many times? A team that was a powerhouse and should have won the cup more than just once. And who beat them? Exactly. Thanks for helping my point of every team faces top tier teams in the playoffs

Pass on all of these.
Ritchie, whilst not what you hope for in a 10th OA pick, brings some much needed size and hitting to the line-up. He's also the only big-body we have suitable for sitting in front of the opposing teams netminder during the PP. He also brings a lot of intangibles to the team. He's movable, but not for Bowey Madison... not even close.
Shore could get more.
Need the veteran leadership that Henrique brings more than a bunch of high risk assets. The idea that we should trade all our older players for prospects and picks is just wrong. That's how you end up like BUF, unable to win. Henrique is one of the few players we have that has been to the SCFs. That knowledge and experience of knowing what it takes to win is vital if we're to turn things around.
We don't need another LW, we need help at RD.

Never mind Kesler's NMC. The chances of Buffalo NOT being on Henrique's 10-team no-trade list are the same as my being on Sofia Vergara's "10 guys I'd like to be stranded on a desert island with" list. And I'm an entertaining guy.

Ducks pass, Mid six winger, an LD (we have an abundance of) and a prospect that will never be in the NHL with a third 2 years from now doesnt even move the needle for Manson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MG1986</b></div><div>Truth of the matter is, whether Anaheim fans believe it or not, Josh Manson is NOT worth Johnsson AND Dermott, nevermind that extra stuff. These are 2 young NHL roster players, great speed from both, and both have displayed plenty of top-6 and top-4 potential, respectively. Josh Manson fits the Leafs well for obvious reasons, but he's not and will never be a top pairing guy, and I think people fail to understand that just because you'd slot Manson with Rielly, that doesn't make him more than what he actually is. So, even if the Leafs have to overpay for Manson. Johnsson and Dermott together in a deal for only Manson back, would be a pretty significant stretch. Never mind the fact that the Leafs probably could get better value for those players elsewhere.</div></div>
AJ is a mid six winger not anything more, we have no need for Dermott we are more than set at LD
This deal doesn't move the needle at all for the Ducks, both teams needs matter not just the leafs contrary to popular belief on this site
