Chicago wins lottery Flat Cap with CBO
just saying if Chicago does win lottery. this is exactly the same as toews and kane drafts. first get a large center with the 3OA, then win the lottery with a super small change, and draft a top winger 1OA. then in 2 years win a cup. sounds good to me!

offer sheet trade with COL
coming from a hawk fan. i really hope chicago does not hand Kubalik a contract that big. i assume between 3-4mil and 2-4 years. if montreal did this offer sheet, id be curious if they would match. a first from montreal could be a high pick.

A Different Angle
interesting thought.
to start is was beaudin that wanted to go back to college. not so much up to the hawks
well it was vancouver that decided to take Quinn. if the hawks were at 7 they probably would of taken quinn too. maybe both teams knew the drop off from quinn to bo. it is almost comparable to dach vs turcotte. one was ready now, and one needs time, but might exceed the other. maybe quinn was ready now, but that doesnt mean bo cant develop into a better player in time.
i kinda agree with you though, most of the hawks pick have either nailed it right out of the gate, or not really turn into anything, then get traded. i hope the answer is no, but prehaps it is 60% yes.

i dont see a place for either of them in the line up. maybe we get better picks than that, or a prospect. i mainly just wanted to move them off the roster.

ya for the first rounder, and i want to get our D prospect to jump in. De Haan, and seabs are vetrain enough back there.

next year
i really like carolina as a team, but if they dont address their goaltending, it wont matter. i know it looks like they have averge to above average stats, but that is behind one of the hardest working defensive teams. if they got a solid goalie they will be a top team. cough cough Lehner. sorry chicago bias. if they got him at the deadline they would be my underdog cup final pick

Some Thoughts
really well written. i agree with most of what you say. for the sake of argument i have a few point of views we can go back and forth with:
1. trades in off season:
of player under contract, and contributes, who do you think is moved. its safe to think at lease one will be traded of significance. here are my choices:
a) nylander- please i do not like him at all
b) strome- i think his rights will be traded. i dont think he is worth it to keep around
c) Keith- this is a long shot, but for a team that needs a steady dman, and 5.5mil is not a lot. i think a team in win now mode would consider this. he would get a good return as well i believe.
d) would get the best return, but not sure what it wouuld look like.
2. signings
like most think crow will be brought back, and i dont mind that, i dont think many of us have playoff hopes next year. chance of signing Lehner less than 5%? here are a few i would want signed:
a)Barrie- i think any signings will be on D. he could be signed pennys on the dollar, and i think in a more sheltered position he could get back to a productive dman.
b)DeMelo- same as above, watch him a lot, and am confident in him
c) Haula- like him a lot. big strong guy.
3. Draft
assuming chicago picks in the top 8. does anyone know how many of the top 8-10 prospects are considered NHL ready for next year? not many had dach as ready, so assuming anyone chicago picks will probably be in the lineup. also any goalies that will be projected to be taken in top 15? i think they will go for a forward.
i dont see them making big waves next year. just ride it out, sell at deadline, and hope these young guys are ready for 2022.

Blackhawks
i live in toronto, but a lifelong hawks fan. i really want lehner to go to carolina, i think carolina will love him. only change i want is the first round pick to be toronto's, not carolina. the reason is who ever is picked wit hit i guarantee will be a allstar. it will be the most Toronto thing ever for a pick they traded to get rid of a player turns out to be amazing. haha i will love it.

So are we selling or what?
Keith is pretty good.. ha. im not to worries about winning games after the TDL this year. lets be in the top 5 for the draft.
bowman then has the whole summer to build around keith, murphy, Boqvist, seabs (kinda).
also you have to assume a couple prospects will make the jump: guilbert, beaudin, regula, holm at least 1-2 of them will be up i hope.
so no i dont think it is dire to keep the dmen we have for next year.
yes there are one hit wonders but there are more great players that have 1 bad year, then go back to productive. i still like the way he is playing, he is getting such great opportunities, that im not worries, it will click eventually this year. if not he will be damn motivated to come out blazing next year.

ya Koekkoek has been good, but for teams that are buyers on monday he is a perfect target, so i just would expect a pretty good return. and i know we always fall in love with our own players, but he is replaceable.
you cant give up on the cat. so many players have a bad year after the contract. i 100% expect him to be a 35 goal scorer next year regardless of the coach.

i agree. but every time i think they are out they win 4/5, and every time i get my hope up they lose 6/7. ha heart breaking.
i think its time to sell. like you said teams know it is a very open playoffs, they have to go for it making prospects, and picks more expendable.
here are my lists:
i want moved:
strome, crow, maatta, nylander, smith (i think is a perfect TDL pickup), koekkoek
im ok with trading, but would rather keep:
saad, lehner, guskampf
id hate to see go:
murphy, carpenter,cagg
everyone else i dont think its even reasonable to think they will be traded (other than picks/prospects)

no money
at the beginning of the year i bet a buddy he would not get 21 goals. so lets say it is 2 more weeks, thats 8 more games. that would leave him 15 games to get 2 goals. who thinks he gets there? i will admit he has done a lot better this year than i expected.

Hawks Fans - Thoughts On Strome
I am pretty hesitant on Strome. he was amazing last year, but this year he looks as slow as everyone knew he was, and only really gets the points b/c of kane. (the cat has not impressed me either so far this year). if we re-sign him it better be close to a 2-3 year and no more than 4.5mil. he does not deserve to even sniff what the cat got.
as for a trade, i wouldn't be that broken up. i guess im neutral on him. open to a trade, but ok if we re-sign him to a reasonable cap.

What would it cost
ya way more than that... start with Saad, maybe they want Lehner/crow in exchange for Talbot, then add boqvist or michell, and a few draft picks. we might be able to get TJ since he is UFA
To Chi:
Gaudreau, talbot, TJ Brodie
To Cal:
Saad
Crow
Boqvist/michell
