Vancouver Canucks TD
I like Barabanov but he's a $2.5M winger with 1 G and 4 A. That's a huge overpayment.
Where's Joshua?

Too much for Zadorov, but that's probably compensated by paying too little to Tanev and Lafferty (I'd expect both dmen to come in around $4M, and Lafferty to get a $2.5M Kampf-ish offer).
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JAKE6</b></div><div>zadorov gets 3m with term</div></div>
Zadorov gets a pay cut this summer? I don't think so.

Term is crazy for Zadorov, Cole, Barrie, and Lafferty. Cap hit his crazy for Barrie. I'll be shocked if he signes for more than $2M next summer. Canucks don't need a PP QB anyways.

I don't think Johnson's trade value is all that high tbh. He's in the AHL now, and is waiver eligible next season.

If this is the swap you want to make, just trade Garland straight up for Weegar. $15M cash owed this season vs $45M - Calgary will jump at the chance.

A late 1st and a bunch of crap for Erik Karlsson is a hockey deal that makes sense?

Fans may not like it but ownership is gonna jump at the chance to save $30M. You're kidding yourself if you think otherwise.

Why would Hertl cost more to acquire than Karlsson?
San Jose saved net $20M in cash/cap and only got late a 1st round pick for Karlsson, the reigning Norris trophy winner.
In this trade, San Jose saves over $55M in cash, gives up a worse player, and somehow gets a 1st, Podkolzin, and Klimovich? Please.
A fair Hertl trade would be something like Boeser + Garland for Hertl straight up.

I mean, why wouldn't Vegas just deal Brossoit to ARI and not have to take Ferland's LTIR cap back?
I'm not a big fan of Hendrix Lapierre but can easily see that being the package for Miller.
That Canadiens trade is *very* interesting.

Forsberg maybe
Think you're dramatically undervaluing Myers. With retention and taking Glendening's dead cap back, I'd want a significant sweetner on that from Dallas. They're basically replacing Klingberg at a net $3.5M cap hit. That's huge.

Not sure Islanders go for Garland that hard.

Not a bad proposal, and Bear is definitely a guy I would have time for on the Canucks blueline.
I'd rather just wait until the summer to get him for free - no way Carolina qualifies him IMO.

Trades and retool
I don't get the appeal behind Lafreniere aside from being wowed by his 1st overall status. For Canucks fans, he's been about as good as Hoglander or Podkolzin. I wouldn't trade Miller for him straight up.
Like the Konecny deal, he could gel with Horvat nicely.
Hate the Garland deal. Smith is like a worse Hughes - completely redundant on this roster. Zacha is an outright bust. For the Canucks, the Devils pieces that interest me most are McLeod, Stillman, and picks.
Not sure Anaheim would be interested in Pearson - could see LA wanting him back though, if you want to be sending him to SoCal. Think you have the value about right.

Retaining on Halak is pointless - then they're on the hook for half his bonus anyways.

He passed through waivers. He's a negative value contract. That he's still taking a regular shift is meaningnless in that context.
But you don't really understand asset value so I guess we'll leave it here.
