I get the need for defensive defenseman, bt wouldnt it be better, in theory, to have a defenseman who maintains possession at a high rate then someone who stops a cycle but then just chips the puck out and lose possession? the best defense is a good offense, IMO. thats just a theory though

I get that that logic, but I think keeping hall and vessel together is too dirty. they have depth throughout the lineup, so a top end line would be a huge benefit to the yotes
