Team Canada WJC based on what I have seen so far
Any chance the Bourque makes the team? Seemed like a steal in the draft at #30, but it's tough to gauge with the QMJHL being on pause in Quebec.

I wonder if they would've still traded Toews if they knew this earlier... (though it's probably not a total surprise to them)</div></div>
I'm guessing they would have. We got a great return for Toews which helps us after moving out similar picks for Pageau at the deadline. Toews really didn't have a place in the top 4 with Pulock, Pelech, Mayfield and Dobson so the two 2nd's is definitely worth moving him.

I thought Matt Martin also agreed to a deal with the Islanders, but it just hasn't been signed yet? I expect him to sign for about the 900k like Greene

Barzal
Couple things:
That's way too much to move Boychuk's contract
Barzal is going to sign a 2 year deal ~7 million, then he can sign a long term deal above 9 million once all of our bad contracts are gone in 2 years (similar to Pulock)
We will have enough cap space because Ladd is 99% going on LTIR

Money doesn’t work regardless cause you need extras
Value isn’t there for them to take the dump</div></div>
Sorokin may start the year in the AHL to get more starts to start the year.
Money does work, because we may be sending players down in-between games as a paper transaction to acquire more salary. Then someone like Aho can be brought up when needed. Staple said an option for the Islanders may be to run with less than a 23 man roster.
Value is close for the dump when we retain 2 mil of Ladd. Komarov shouldn't take much to move. Maybe we move the two 2nds we acquired instead of a 2nd and 3rd, but it's close, maybe not perfect.

With 2 mil of a 5.5 mil contract, no, nowhere near Dobson is needed.

People saying that Dobson (a projected top pairing defensemen) needs to be paired for 3 years @3.5 mil of Ladd are ridiculous. Komarov, I honestly think isn't really a dump, that's a trade where we might get a 6th round pick back for the player. Right now that deal I proposed involves a 2nd and 3rd going to the Devils for Ladd's 3 year contract with 2 mil retained, essentially. Could more be added to that? Sure maybe it's two 2nd rounders instead of the 2nd and 3rd.
Keep in mind the Devils only have 9 forwards signed. If they sign one of Hoffman/Duclair, that brings them up to 10, but they still need more roster players.

Huge move with Islanders
I don't think the Islanders would ever move their #1D in a trade for Sanheim (my mistake putting Laughton) 1 for 1. That said, if we were able to re-coop a 1st round pick in the deal with Sanheim, it would be feasible.

Completely agree. I'm still high on the Islanders playoff run and trying to figure out how we can get back in the near future.

As an Isles fan I would love all of this. That said, Laine is going to cost a lot more. We probably send Wahlstrom as well with Cizikas and Pulock as a start.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leaf_fan_74</b></div><div>Agree with reelkena here, but Lou is a professional and would understand Kapanen's value and I have no doubt he would accept this trade since he would be adding Kapanen to his top six for a defender that is a 5-6 RHD at best. No, I don't agree... this isn't a win-win</div></div>
I forgot that Leafs players are worth their weight in gold. Mayfield is a #4 defensemen, top end PKer and is signed the next 4 years @ 1.45 million. This is the type of player the Leafs need, and is easily worth a middle 6 winger, even if he is a Leaf.

I agree, but that said I think theoretically this could be a win-win. The Islanders have Noah Dobson who can slot in behind Pulock as the #2RHD. The Leafs have forward depth and this could solve a problem for both of them. Would also love to see Kapanen's speed with Barzal.

Edmonton doesn't give up Klefbom, and unless Holtby can prove he is still an NHL starter the Caps are giving up a high pick for someone to relieve them of cap-space.

Sabres sign Lehner at $4,000,000 for 3 years then move him to the Islanders and Sabres retain $750,000.</div></div>
Seems like an overpayment for Lehner, but it's in the right direction. As an Isles fan I would love for us to go out and get Lehner, but depending on if we re-sign JT, Greiss's contract may need to go.

None of the players you have signing 1 year deals actually sign 1 year deals. And nobody takes Matt Martin's contract without compensation going their way. The only high end player that might sign a 1 year deal with the Leafs is Thornton.
