The way he's been performing lately, he absolutely is not.

That's an adequate "sell high" on Nylander but I don't think anybody's going to really want to meet that kind of price. Altho if someone does I'll be quite content to be proven wrong. :)

Rolling in Dough
Whoever's running the CBJ in your game did not do a very good job with that deal. IRL Boqvist would cost more than that; he was actually doing pretty well alongside Werenski and on the power play before he got injured yet again. Should be "at least a 2nd, more if you want retention" or thereabouts.

Fitting Hanifin Part II
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LordStanlersCup</b></div><div>was jeannot this bad in nashville too? If so how did he get that many points?</div></div>
No; he got hot at the right time and his confidence was through the roof. But then the puck stopped going in and he stopped really playing the game that had made him successful and the downhill slide quickly became visible. Some of us were hoping he'd find some way to turn it around, but ever since the trade it only seems to have accelerated, if anything.

As a Preds and Jackets fan, that Jeannot/Texier swap goes into "#### right off" territory for me. Jeannot doesn't have anywhere near the upside Texier does and Texier is a better disruptor of the opposition.

Columbus won’t have to pay to get rid of him. They may not get anything in return, but they’ll move him without paying this summer.

Remove Boone and I'd be more willing to consider that deal; we can't afford the leadership vacuum. As it is it'd be difficult to fit because of the cap, even tho Nylander is well worth it.

we cannot accept without a 100% guaranteed elvis move in place and even then it really limits our ability to get team friendly deals with term for any of the remaining RFAs.
with as many young players as we have that are going to need their own bigger contracts, we simply don't have room to take on a player that <strong><em>does not fit the timeline</em></strong>. it will guarantee us an eternity of fighting for a playoff spot but never competing exactly how nylander's toronto career has already gone.

Yeah, that 3 million in 2026 right when all our best young players need new contracts is very affordable.

nah bro you don't get to give willie $92 million and get out of it before it starts idc how great he'd be next to fantilli, we wouldn't do that if gaudreau wasn't going the other way. give up one of the most team-friendly contracts in the league and a 10.2c player who fits the timeline in exchange for a guy about to get paid huge for eight seasons and is 8 years older than fantilli.

I don't think this is right for the Habs, but I would not be upset if the cost is a late 1st round pick (like Winnipeg pick) plus a short term cap relief going back like Dvorak.</div></div>
Columbus is a conundrum. There's so much talent in the organization and it just... doesn't work. Some of it is terrible management, especially back to back bad coaches. But that can't be all of it.

Columbus and Carolina both pass on the Jiricek/Necas swap. Does nothing for Columbus, who's full of talented wings and has no other RHD prospect, and also does nothing for Carolina who's full of currently-better defensemen and dearly needs a scoring winger.

It's a really minor deal, but fwiw I still think it makes more sense to send him to a contender looking for bodies/depth. He's a little too old to be useful to a rebuilding team long-term, so you wouldn't be getting an asset back from them. The realistic options imo are solely 1) to a contender looking for cheap depth for a 6th or 7th (where it makes sense to just keep him since the Leafs are a contender), or 2) as part of a deal to a seller for a rental as a contract/cap space going back.

Especially considering he's replacement level, makes above league-min, and has term. He's at best the 8th-D on Columbus. I think Toronto's best hope is that a contender takes a chance on him for a 6th or 7th as playoff depth, but then it just makes more sense for Toronto to keep him for that exact reason.
