I agree with you, but don't you think that 1 off year with no valuable center can shadow 4 consecutive seasons of 39, 37, 30 and 35 goals?

I'll help you. So what's ROR value then? He has been traded in the past for basically Zadorov, a 2nd pick and a bunch of prospects. It is a serious question: what's his worth?

Wow so Montreal moves down 6 spots and gives up Sherback and in return gets ROR....... now that is really comical.</div></div>
Thanks for being a little sarcastic *****. That's exactly what we expected to peacefully discuss hockey.

I know right? Intriguing. Honestly as for "players value", I have seen some surprising stuff lately starting with Domi-Galchenyuk. I also feel that they might come a little short... But both players are line-up ready and promising. Not to say, they'll draft Dahlin. With this trade they could change their entire core and locker room seems to be devised between ROR and Eichel. With 10+ M$ for the next years, Eichel has to be your choice.

You think? I'm curious to know your position. On my side I'm seeing a lot of centers (Koivu, Eriksson Ek, Staal, Coyle) and a cruel lack of scoring. If you want big assets you have to move some big ones to. We've seen a lot of 1 vs 1 trade in the past and Pacioretty discount is not to be missed.

The format doesn't allow 3 way but here:
To BUF: V. Namestnikov rights + N. Sherback
To NYR: 1st round pick 2018 (3rd overall)
To MTL: R. O'Reilly + 1st round pick (9th overall)

Ultimate Habs rebuild
No problem mate. Really here to have some fun and dream of scenarios. That said, i’m not saying it will likely happen but I don’t see what’s so unrealistic about it. We all know Tavares won’t be an Islanders in 18-19 season. A matter of personal conflict with GM + disagreement on the team direction.
1. Tavares requires big money. I don’t see many rich teams with enough space cap to spare 12-13M$ to a single guy.
2. From what I heard, Tavares wants to be the star and not play the kind of role that Malkin plays in Pittsburgh behind Crosby, for example. He wants to be in front. Well, that would be easy in Montreal, as he would become national hero on first day.
3. I’m guessing playing many years in a poor market such as Long Island make you want to experience bigger market and sold out crowds.
4. Lot of people screaming how Habs sucks. Isn’t a good season indeed, just as TB didn’t make playoff last year and EDM not making it this year. Lot of timing and injury issue. I don’t see why they couldn’t be playoff material next year with healthy Drouin, Price, Weber. Hurts when top 3 NHL goalie and top 5 NHL defensement are on LTI for most of the season.
6. As season end approach, Habs will draft in the top 10 and most likely in the top 5. We’ll let the lottery decide, but who wouldn’t play with Dahlin? Gotta dream. Right now the probs are at 8,5%.
7. Habs a decent recent history in playoff compared to the Islanders.
8. Tavares won gold medal with Price and Weber, probably good friends. They will both surely reach out to the guy and that may be an incentive.
9. Pat Brisson is one of Marc Bergevin’s closest friends.
Again, not saying it will happen.

I wouldn't see Ducks made that terrible move either. Plus they already struggle on the cap, adding 3.9 M$ A. Shaw wouldn't fit.

I agree with you on some levels. I think Thornton signing in Montreal is unlikely. Altough, seeing LA center line (Kopitar, Carter) I don't see where Joe would fit. He wants to play and would have 1st center spot in Montreal right away + chances to win.
About the market, I'm hesitant over that assumption. Joe Thornton was a very young guy while in Boston.

A few years away but spent a 1st pick on Stepan (27 y.o.) and added up Hjalmarsson (31 y.o.). They want to win and have already plenty picks after 1st round.

I wouldn't mind retaining salary and/or adding a 2nd pick over it. Keep in mind Hamonic was traded for a 1st and two 2nd. Hamonic is imo a far better player then De Haan.
...and still under contract for 3 more seasons at a really decent AAV of 3.85 M$. De Haan will likely be sign between 4 and 5 M$ on short term or 5-5.5 on long term.

Asking price was McCarron + 1st pick. I am not sure anyone will pay that much. Knowing that Hanzal will not be part of the Coyotes at the start of new season, they could at least get Plekanec, signed for few years and Andrighetto which can play on regular basis.

I do know hockey isn't just about points. But the first objective will always be to score more goals than the other team. The Habs can already rely on 6 solid d-man and one of the best goalie in the world. Fact is: Habs is already plenty aware in defens, from the actual players to Therrien overall strategy. Plekanec doesn't produce. Plekanec has always been invisible in playoffs. With Galchenyuk position at center, Danault proving he could be one of the missing piece in line-up, I don't feel Plekanec, at 6M$ is still the right option on 2nd line. Overmore, Galchenyuk and Beaulieu will win far more than what they earn right now. Where do you take the money? + MB has always been known for shopping hard on summer. You need cap space for that.
Please keep in mind that Flynn, Mitchell, Byron, Pacioretty, Danault, Shaw, Lekhonen can all kill penalties. Not bad when this might only represent 5%-10% of an actual game.

Subban trade, Okposo & Datsyuk contract
Also I don't think Edmonton is unrealistic, whether it happens or not in real life. I think the value of Subban deserves at least Draisaitl and Klefbom. As for Yakupov, he's been a deception right from the beginning. For De La Rose, young reponsible 2way forward, Hudon, 28 goals in AHL 15-16 and a 3rd pick from 2016, I don't see what Chiarelli would lose.

Chicago just had to surrender a 21-year-old high-end prospect to convince Carolina to take Bryan Bickell's contract. I don't see how Detroit's trade isn't plausible, as Holland is shopping hard Datsyuk contract to land Stamkos.
Desharnais for a 4th not plausible? Come on. 3,5M$ isn't much and Desharnais is a 50 pt per season guy. Wouldn't spit on that if I'm Arizona.

Would be the first top4 d-man paid 2.5M$ max. Anyway, at 7.5M$ you get 1M$ left, not enough for Price the year after. You get the point.
