van Riemsdyk has definitely struggled, but Beecher isn't consistent enough to call him a regular or be in the "he's absolutely gotta be in the lineup" territory. The few attributes he brings are useful, but there's much more in hockey. Hopefully all four of van Riemsdyk, Maroon, Lauko and Beecher step up.

Has he been better recently? I haven't seen much. He averages two pts more than Lauko, that's not much of a difference and he's got a likely unsustainable 18% shot%.

Unlikely you're getting a 1st and a 2nd for Ullmark. Rather keep Heinen at 2Y/$1.8M over Hayes or even sign any 3rd liner at $1-2M, it's easy to get those guys.

Assuming he remains consistent, he should be back in round 1
Agreed for Frederic and 4th line only works when Boqvist is on it. They should be fine and at this point, it's bit late to get Merkulov.

various potential UFA targets
I'd be surprised if they are interested by Gostisbehere. Lindholm is the all-around left D; assuming Lohrei stays up, he will mostly have OZ starts/PP time so the other left D will be a defensive-minded/PK guy. Dillon and Zadorov are the most obvious targets; the latter who they've already been linked to. Kulikov as well.
The forwards list makes sense and it's a shame they will probably not be on the two best forwards available in Guentzel or Reinhart.

Well, you can make this argument about any goalie playing for a better team than Buffalo then.

He's playing like a top10 goalie behind a middling defensive team, that argument is lazy and irrelevant. Does he play like that on an awful team? I don't know, but he's doing it with a mediocre defense in front of him so thinking he's just a product of the team is wrong.

He was barely playable for most of his tenure. Sheltered with a good partner and still wouldn't give much. Zero versatility as he can't move in the top4 or on the right side. Now, he missed 2 months last season and played injured this year just to finish with two surgeries at age 32. That's a player who should be on a PTO in September.

He's already with the team regularly and should stay until the end of the season, he isn't alone at home.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BruinsWoahWoah</b></div><div>Peeke has looked very good to his start with the Bruins - Shattenkirk with a 3 point game last night. I could also see that being a match-up dependent situation.
With Lauko's recent downward trend in play and JVR banged up, I am surprised the Bs haven't given either Lysell or Merk some looks next to Geekie and Freddy.</div></div>
I'd argue Lauko has played his best hockey of the season in the current month. The Lauko-Boqvist-Brazeau was rolling for a while until JVR was out last week in Montreal, Beecher went in, played well and stayed in next game over Lauko who was unfairly scratched. He played well with Geekie and Frederic last game too. At this point, it's unlikely Merkulov or Lysell will get any chance unless 2-3 forwards get injured.

Until Providence's season continue, they shouldn't carry many extra players. Brazeau, Beecher and Lohrei should be in the lineup either in Boston or Providence depending on how they play over the next 5 weeks. So the 7th D between Peeke/Shattenkirk and one forward (Lauko?). Maybe they call up a 3rd goalie although both Bussi and Dipietro would benefit more from playing in Providence than sitting in the press box.

Poitras, Lysell, Lohrei. Although older, Merkulov and Bussi have the potential to be regulars based on their play at the pro level so far. Most of the rest should be bottom-line players if they make it or minor leaguers; hopefully 2-3 can hit.

Grzelcyk was still with McAvoy at practice today and Lohrei-Wotherspoon was the 3rd pair. They should keep trying different combinations of Lohrei, Peeke, Shattenkirk and Wotherspoon for the rest of the regular season.

Looking forward to see Coyle and Zacha hold up in May and June (like it was planned for Haula 2 years ago). Poitras has played 33 games. Sure, making the team at 19yo is encouraging, but it doesn't guarantee anything. Anyways, it was more about the level of play he could bring than having a spot next season.

Plenty of space
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jwirb12</b></div><div>What are the two “glaring” holes?</div></div>
First line center or at least a top line/elite forward. Then, a top4 left-side defenseman. I guess you give the opportunity to Lohrei and see if he can handle the role. If not, acquire a defenseman later/before the deadline. Wotherspoon has been fine, but in a 6/7 role. We're one Lindholm injury away from serious trouble.
I'd argue they could use a solid 2nd liner who can drive his line and who is a step better than Zacha/DeBrusk/Coyle, but 1C/top4 LD are more important and it already won't be easy to find these two. Also, let's see what Lysell/Poitras/Merkulov's got and maybe if we're lucky, they can take that spot.

Sign Elias Lindholm
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>Great conceptually, Who? Look at free agency and tell me the name, because I don’t think this center exists. You could do a short term contract maybe and see how it goes. I fully acknowledge $8m over 7 years is an overpay, but even in the worst case scenario here … we’re in a position to add a very good player and a solid one on top of that,
Maybe it’s Guentzel instead of Lindholm? Maybe sign JDB or Bertuzzi and bring in a better defenseman like Skjei?
Martinez was a 1 year flyer. Haven’t watched much Vegas this year, but just thinking for a short term player who provides stability while Lohrei grows into the fourth role. Trying to allocate money for Frederic in 2025. Any d you would recommend here?</div></div>
There's no 1C available, that's the reality. Scheifele re-signed last year, Pettersson weeks ago, Hertl just got traded. Even a winger like Nylander. Build a solid 2nd line, have two top wingers on the 1st who carries a 2C in the 1C role is one option and even then, it's easier said than done.
Reinhart should be the best forward available. He's 29yo, but he's only had few seasons as a top line player and will be coming of a 50-goal, 90-pts season.
If he isn't re-signed, Guentzel is another one, 30yo. Duchene maybe although he's older and I would be surprised if he takes another discount.
I rather not give a long-term contract that is unlikely to age well and stick with a middle-six C on short-term contracts like they're doing right now. If there's someone I believe will be worth his contract for most of its duration, I'd do it. Lindholm isn't a 1st liner and I would definitely not go 8x8, 7x7 either and even 6x6, I'm worried.
Best hope for the Bruins is one of the top6 F free agents is willing to sign a 1-3 year contract although they will have to overpay. Then, most importantly, the player need to keep his level of play. It is why this whole thing of trying to contend for the Cup post-Bergeron is questionable. What even is the window? Sure feels like they will just end up lacking the top/elite forward talent if Pastrnak is the only forward at that level. Hopefully I'm wrong.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>Ideally it would be 6 years. He’ll be 29 through December 2nd.
Reality is if you are using free agency to acquire a player, you likely overpay in either term or AAV. I’m using the Scheifele contract as the baseline. Lindholm is 1.5 years younger coming than Scheifele, but is coming off a down year.</div></div>
if you're going to overpay, do it for a high-end player (1st liner/pair D), not a 2C that could soon become a 3C. Martinez has regressed this year and will be 37yo. Same for Maroon. I would avoid the old players. Nedeljkovic hasn't been anything special, rather stick with Bussi/Dipietro or acquire a more consistent backup.

They aren't winning this year, they have too many issues and holes in the lineup. They gotta try next season with the cap space they got this summer. Maybe it's over anyway (at least with Marchand/old core).
