Why should they waste assets for UFAs like Toffoli and Eberle??

Secure Lindholm
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>My guess is if they acquire Lindholm, they are signing him long term.
I’d love to get him for free, but I also know that Marchand has only so many playoff appearances in him. I think they’ll pay a price to get him. If they believe they won’t sign DeBrusk, this could be an alternative where they lock in predictable salaries and it costs them Lysell.
I’d love to get him for Lysell, Merkulov, and Forbort … but I think that puts Vancouver’s offer for Guentzel as lacking.</div></div>
You better get Lindholm on a really good deal (which I doubt) if you're involving Lysell.

I think the leverage would be we could just sign him outright in the offseason and he will likely be available, but I doubt Vancouver, Winnipeg, and Boston were the only bidders</div></div>
They can't use a valuable asset to acquire a rental and let him walk, this isn't the year to do it. Either don't add that type of player or re-sign him. Now, it would be tough to get Lindholm on a good contract because he probably wants a big one at this point in his career.

Quite the return for a team possibly trying to get rid of him. If there's no extension and a good contract (which is questionable), it's a waste.

There's a risk he walks and we're left with nothing. I'd prefer not taking Vanecek.

You're getting Toffoli just to lose him in few months. It's a waste. Johnson has been awful this year; I wouldn't trade for him let alone add a 3rd.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Acegamer</b></div><div>You are undervaluing here especially for trade deadline
Ullmark and Debrusk get you 1st

Grzelcyk isn't getting a 2nd. He hasn't played like a top4 D or up to his cap hit and has been injured few times. From a seller's standpoint, there's no reason to add him and buyers don't have much cap space and teams have different opinions about his value in the playoffs. Finally, they're aware BOS need cap space so in the best-case scenario, you get a late 4th for him half retained. Would sure like to be wrong though.

No deals made
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>I just don’t see the difference between Hanifin and Skjei or Forsling as worth Lohrei and a first. In reality, Skjei is a better fit regardless of the story of Hanifin coming home. I could see Forsling, Stamkos, Sjkei, Lindholm, or Hanifin being available at July 1st. Some of those are likely to be available
I’d be open to DeBrusk, Lohrei, and Merkulov for Hanifin. Throw in Forbort at 50 percent retention to remove any financial obligation. It would require Calgary believing they could resign DeBrusk, which I think is a reasonable bet.</div></div>
Skjei has been inconsistent, will be a 30yo and is a great candidate to get a regrettable contract (for the team). Hanifin is a 3 years younger and has played well in a top pair role which Skjei has never done. Lindholm *should* remain a top4 guy, but a possible regression is something to keep in mind which is why having an actual top pair left D is safer. Or opt for a decent bottom-4 D on a short-term contract and it's easier to replace him if he regresses.

They'll probably at least add some depth. Curious to see how they do it with minimal cap space which is one the reasons Forbort shouldn't be on the roster at 3pm Friday whether it is via waivers or trade.
Agreed for Lysell. Lohrei has had extended looks twice and it didn't go well. He's been better this time but is still making way too many mistakes defensively. I would suggest a 3rd-pair sheltered role and see. Otherwise, back to Providence.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if Tampa makes a serious push for Hanifin. Grzelcyk has regressed and he wouldn't bring back a 3rd especially without retention. Pittsburgh doesn't do it. A 1st for 2 months of Tarasenko is a waste of asset. Smith has been terrible this year.

Pettersson Pipe Dream
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BruinsWoahWoah</b></div><div>Not sure what you're talking about. Poitras, Lohrei, and Merkulov are all high quality prospects. Poitras is a top-6 center, Lohrei is a top-4 D, and Merk is top 3 in AHL scoring as a 23 year old. All are ready to play in the NHL today.
Which teams would provide better prospects than Poitras/Lohrei in a deal for EP40?</div></div>
Poitras has played 33 games. Yes, he made the team as 19yo and if he were to become a top6 C, this is a great start but it's not a guarantee either. Lohrei has struggled in a top4 role. Merkulov has crushed the AHL and should get a real shot although he could also be anything.

Wait and see how much the other rentals bring back but if it's similar to Monahan, I could see a desperate team willing to move a (late) 2nd in the final hours before the deadline.

van Riemsdyk at $1M with a 50-pts pace can get you more than a 4th. Maybe someone gives a 3rd for Grzelcyk half retained, but I'm not sure.

Realistic Speaking Hanifin tanev Trades
The Lindholm return was a 1st, 2nd and Vaakanainen (basically a 3rd). The other 2nd was to take on John Moore's contract (1.25 years x $2.75M for an AHLer). Grzelcyk is a UFA this season and isn't playing up to his cap hit, but he doesn't require a 2nd to get moved (nor should the Bruins do it) and Lohrei/Vaakanainen's values are also debatable.

meh maybe why why not
Calgary will probably want more especially if they retain. The Arizona trade doesn't work for Boston. Not sure how you see it but 1) Bruins shouldn't waste an asset to get rid of Grzelcyk; 2) Dumba sucks, is still not worth $2M and Bruins already have a similar player in Shattenkirk; 3) O'Brien isn't worth a 2nd/3rd pick either
