The rebuild version 1
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>smalley41</b></div><div><i>Just delete the trade. It's just embarrassing. For both teams it just doesn't do much. Ovechkin stays and will always stay.[/quote
I disagree. Personally I don't like the trade, and I don't think CBJ would ever make this trade. But Caps have been trying with Ovi for over 10 years now and are nowhere close when it comes to the playoffs. Major playoff fail. Usually the coach or support players take the fall.
Well I got news for you, Ovi isn't getting any younger. They have some very dynamic stars coming up like Kutznetzov & Johanssen. I could see Washington making a trade to some team down the road. It happens all the time. It is part of the economics of the business. Not out of the question.</i></div></div>

You have Clarkson slotted a little too high in the lineup. Maybe below Scott???

Wennberg better shoot more. Bjorkstrand will take lots of shots from everywhere.

Agree.
I also think Hartnell may be paired on line with Wennberg since they have been together 2 years now and have chemistry. If not, Wennberg moves up lines and Karlsson pairs with Hartnell on 3rd line.
How about Calvert, Gagner & Anderson for a 4th line?!!

Panarin Makes Too Much Sense
Chicago is going to want what they want for Panarin, not what you want to give up.
They will probably want a very high pick (1st round?) and 2 solid established players and a prospect. Probably much more than you are offering.

I think Savard is better than Trouba, for $2M less than what you are valuing him above.

This team would make the playoffs
It appears you are grossly overpaying Russell. Do you think he hasn't signed by now because he is still holding out for the highest bidder??? It is almost training camp. He will get about $1.5M-$2M max.
You also might be underpaying for Nichushkin a bit.

No way we are giving up on Wild Bill.
If he continues to develop, he could be the #2 behind Austin powers, I mean Alex Wennburg.

EDM NJD Trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MSambo21</b></div><div><i>The Hartnell trade makes sense. NJD needs some offensive help. I was on the fence with the Wennberg trade too, however, if you look at the numbers Draisaitl has put up it makes sense. He is on par with Wennberg with assists and scored more goals. Also, his face offs and possession numbers are better.</i></div></div>
How is this for radical thinking...Savard & Hartnell for Draisaitl. You then fill the center depth problem and it moves Dubi to line 3C.

Coyotes remember they have no $ and rebuild
Coyotes are a joke. They spend a ton of money on bogus contracts to get to the cap floor rather than put a competitive product on the ice. And the fans really put up with this???. Oh I forgot, the coyotes are near the bottom in annual average attendance.

Replacement for Jagr??? He is going to play for another 10 years, and productively at that.

RNH trade that makes sense
On the contrary, I think you overpaid for RNH. His possession numbers are questionable, and his face off % is low. In my mind, trading Savard for him straight up would be the deal, or Edm can throw in a pick too. Otherwise, wait another year for Wennberg to develop and the dust to settle on the expansion next year.

Weird but solid
atkunson has 103 G &100 A in 300 NHL games. If he played for any other team like Pittsburg or Tampa he would be worth the trade. Any player for CBJ is perceived not as high a value. Hartnell is a perfect example. Yes he is 34, but has 109 Points in last 2 yrs with Jackets. Worthy of a contract paying $4.75M, because he is Hartnell & he plays for the Jackets, nobody gives him the value he deserves.

risky trade
I'm not sure I see the risk. It is even up swap, both for quality of players and salary/term. Both teams would like to unload these players/contracts, and salary is within $200k of each other and there are 2 years/1year left (total 3 years) on contracts moving in each direction. Seems pointless to me, except to give the proverbial "fresh start" for each.

Will this make playoffs?
It is a step in the right direction, but I don't believe yet a playoff team. First I think it would take a 1st round pick to get Palat. The center depth is still questionable, defense still needs a boost more than Russell could give on a 3rd pairing, and Miller is fading a bit, probably combination of age and D in front of him. If Markstrom really established himself like Murray & Vasilieski both did, then maybe a lot closer to playoff bar.

Well mr born to be GM, you really are lacking in the powers of observation, as Clarkson was hurt, is hurt, and will always be hurt. When the wind blows, he hurts. All he is good for is collecting a big fat paycheck. I guarantee you he will not make it through training camp without some injury, illness, or his monthly cramps.</i></div></div>

Trade for a Captain
You have Savard on your top defensive pairing. Don't you think for one moment that the Jackets know that Savard is better than Jack Johnson and will keep/protect Savard in the expansion draft? You might as well just include Johnson in your trade above rather than Savard.
