Met him at Da Beauty League last year. What a great guy. Happy for him. Definition of a family man.

accelerated rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>newballcoach</b></div><div>I think you might have overvalued LA's players here. The Colorado and Washington trades stick out as particularly unbalanced.
If they want to start a rebuild they will need to move Kopitar and Doughty to get those type of returns. And probably have to retain on their salaries as well.</div></div>
I dont think Doughty is very movable just because he has alot of term and if I am the kings there is no chance I am retaining salary with that term. Kopitar would be a good option. Looking back the COL trade was bad for sure but the Caps one makes sense IMO, maybe they give up to much but I think it is really good for them.

accelerated rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>Do LA fans actually believe that a 34 year old Jeff Carter with 2 more years of term at 5.3 million is worth anything at all? Pretty sure you'd be begging teams to take him, moving him will cost you unless you retain half his salary and even at that with 2 more years of term its risky.</div></div>
Not an LA fan lol I am just doing this using stats and analytics and the eye test in the few games I've seen him play this year. I don't think these trades will happen but I think its the direction this organization needs to go.

Tampa Bay Lightning signed Andrei Vasilevskiy (8 Years / $9,500,000 AAV)
Honestly considering what top-end goalies are getting, this is good. He is younger then both Price and Bob and they are paid more. You may not like paying goalies this but he for sure took less and if you want him you need to pay him market.

Edmonton Oilers signed Mike Smith (1 Year / $3,750,000 AAV)
If you look at his stats in previous seasons, he is insane when he faces a high number of shots, I think he is one of those goalies that needs a bad defense and he will be amazing but if he plays for a solid defense he gets lost in game flow.

I think Matthews was strict on the fact he wants to end on a UFA status

A<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KSIxSKULLS</b></div><div>Matthews gets paid the 2nd highest AAV in the NHL and Toronto doesn't buy a single year of UFA. Good Job Dubas.</div></div>
I realize the term isnt ideal as he will be a UFA so not a great contract but I think Dubas worked with what he was given and if im a leafs fan im content with this contract, not happy but not upset. This makes the trade deadline and outlook on the offseason alot easier (Leafs will have 7 mil in cap space according to capfriendly). Interested to see how he does.

St. Louis Blues signed Jordan Schmaltz (2 Years / $700,000 AAV)
I dont understand why Schmaltz agreed to this, but St Louis just got a steal for the next 2 years. RHD are almost always overpaid due to the lack of their position.

I dont think wild want to go from zucker to anderson and milano as well as spurgeon to savard. downgrades across the board.

I think for most teams this is a bad deal but the yotes have the cap space and he brings leadership, grit, and knows how to win some cups. Not a bad role model for their young guns
