Lee even at 5 million is likely going to take an asset and a 2nd for 3rd swap is not that large of one. JPG "might" not cost 2 mid-round picks (perhaps only one) with a million retention per season, but I wouldnt be surprised if it does. Remember these are 2 years left deals on players who are not top 6ers and most teams dont want to pay even 4 and 5 million on bottom sixers. As for Pulock, you could be right, but again I did not make it too much added (Wahlstrom who we have to move and a late first rounder for not one but two middle round picks in the next two drafts

Sure , Bolduc will be “in the mix” but he’s nowhere close to NHL ready and If you watched any of his games in Bridgeport it’s easy to see. A 20 year old defenseman that can’t yet handle the pace of the AHL is not going to be on the 3rd pairing next season for the isles.

Good, we agreed he is in the mix. Everything else you said is you just arguing with yourself (never said he was better than Salo, nor did I say he didn't struggle at times in the AHL this season).
I personally think he is further along than you do (I do watch Bridgeport games)

The year before there were already signs he was going to fall off a cliff sooner than later. Same thing with Palmieri. Palmieri’s offense and defense both declined this season and you can’t blame it on the devils because the players he spent the most time on the ice with were very good players.
Palmieri’s comparables are Ladd, lucic, Erickson , James Neal, when they signed their contracts. When was the last time signing a 30+ forward to a 4+ year deal worked out 😂

Again, there is no comparison.
A 7 year contract and 38.5 million for a 31 year old right when the season starts is not comparable to a 4-year contract for someone who is 6 months younger at half the price.....PERIOD. Even the other ones don't really compare. The closest (Neal) even signed for 5 years and some 10 million more than I suggested and he too was turning 31 before the season even started. FAIL
No matter how many times you try and compare the two

How about just per 82 the last 3 seasons:

Lee: 60 goals and 53 assists, 113 points in 177 games= 28 goals/ 25 assists/ 53 points per 82

Palms: 62 goals and 54 assists, 116 points in 190 games= 27 goals/ 23 assists/ 50 points per 82
Eberle: 51 goals and 59 assists, 110 points in 191 games= 22 goals/ 25 assists/ 47 points per 82
Bailey: 38 goals and 96 assists; 134 points in 204 games= 15 goals/ 39 assists/ 54 points per 82
Hell, it would be a tough argument to even say AB was your 4th best winger.....yet; but definitely not better than Lee or Palms

Trotz said similar things about Bellows before he spent the next 2+ years in the AHL. Trotz didn’t have any plans of playing Dobson in his D+2 after winning his 2nd memorial cup. But yeah Bolduc is close to NHL ready as a B prospect after playing 24 AHL games 😂

Trotz specifically said he almost made the team (and no it wasn't comparable with what he said about Bellows). Again, no matter how you spin it, that alone would indicate he has a good chance to be in the battle for the third pairing next season....

As for Palmieri being the next Ladd, that is just an insane comparison, especially with the contract I suggest.
I have Kyle signing a 4-year deal (at 4.75 million per) for his age 30-33 seasons, arguably in his prime.
Ladd was signed to a 7-year deal (at 5.5 million per) for his age 31-36 seasons.
Those aren't even remotely the same. One is actually a good (not to short or long) contract for a player who doesn't turn 31 until the next calendar year while the other was an insanely long contract for a player who was turning that age two months into the season....

Im not overreacting, I’m saying this team should prioritize signing younger players instead of old declining players. 6 years for cizikas and 4 years for palmieri. Yikes.

Read slower dude. "Expring contract means there is one year left.
And I would bet a million dollars both Beauvillier and Sorokin take bridge deals. I doubt the Islanders commit long term to either of them.
No, Trotz was adamant that Samuel almost played himself onto the roster. I too like Salo's long term potential better, but almost every Islander insider says that Bolduc is closer to being NHL ready, despite the age difference

They would have the cap space to re-sign all three. Even in my suggestions they would have $40 million in cap space (and that is figuring it at 81.5, which will most certainly be higher at that time) and expiring contracts of Eberle, Bailey and Martin for flexibility.

It is going to cost a first rounder to move Ladd and likely a prospect. Perhaps Wilde instead and "maybe" it can be done without the 3rd attached, but the first is automatic. As for Salo, the Islanders may have Bolduc rated higher (he is certainly closer, as he almost made the team out of camp). Either way, one of the three (Samuel, Robin or Bo) will likely have to be attached

No need to make those trades when there are free-agents out there. Wishful thinking to assume Barzal will take 8 million over a long term deal (not going to happen); which is why he will finally agree to a bridge deal making close to 7.
Fear not on the cap troubles though as it is HIGHLY LIKELY that one of Hickey or Ladd will join Boychuk on the LTIR. I doubt either could pass a physical right now. The other is likely getting buried, so if we can get Barzal and the rumored to have already agreed trifecta of Martin/Greene and Schneider (Bridgeport) for around 9-10 million, we will still have some free-agent dough left- perhaps even enough for Hoffman on a one year deal............

Yes there is a better than good chance one of Hickey or Ladd join Boychuk on the LTIR. It is highly unlikely both of them can pass a physical. Much more likely that Barzal takes a bridge deal (3 years 21 million) then settling for 8 long term though. Also, only way we are signing Hoffman is if he is willing to take a single year due to the pandemic (for about 5-6). Lastly, Schneider has reportedly already agreed to a 1-year 700,000 deal, Martin and Green will come in closer to 1-1.5 with Matt possibly getting a second year....

Teams like Detroit right now don't really care about the cap hit (they are well under it), but do of course care about the cash owed. 2.6 million per season for a still serviceable third pairing D-men (as well as his veteran leadership to help with a rebuilding effort on that blue line) is a good price. Either two seconds or one and Bellows is what is probably going to get it done
