Another proposal where the Hawks are overpaying for Dvorak, a player they don’t have a need for.
A bit of constructive criticism, just because your team doesn’t want a player any longer, doesn’t mean another team does. If the proposed acquiring team doesn’t need what your are selling, you’re going to have to make an offer they can’t refuse.
For the Hawks to take Dvorak, the Habs would have to package picks with him to peak the Hawks interest. So at a $4.5m cap hit for the next two seasons and $11.5m in $$ actually owed, the Hawks would want at least a 1st round pick and decent prospect/2nd round pick attached to Dvorak. At that point the deal doesn’t make sense for Montreal.

As has said here many times before, they are not paying anything to acquire Yamamoto and provide EDM with cap space.
As for the VAN trade, the picks more or less even out so the Hawks would take on Myers cap hit for nothing? It don't work that way.</div></div>
He's got Bedard at ~$3.8M. I don't think he really knows what's what, but I'm sure he's having fun.

Are you F**kin drunk!?
There is no chance the Hawks trade a high level prospect like Nazar, who they just drafted mid first round last year plus a 4th round pick for Garland who it is widely known in hockey circles the Canucks are desperate to move on from.
The Canucks will be lucky to get the 4th round pick considering the acquiring team will be eating Garland’s $5m contract for the next three seasons.

Just thinking about the KD/KD trade history. Mrazek comes to mind for Granlund, but McCabe's deal could be repeated too.

Hawks would probably consider this. Not convinced Hawks give up a 2nd for Boeser but the value on this seems pretty good for both sides.

PHI would have to pay CHI to take that Hayes contract. This past season was his best in years, and he still significantly underperformed in comparison to his contract. He is overpaid by $2 to 4 million. Not only that, but he also bailed on CHI after they drafted him in the first round. Why would CHI pay to acquire him when he did that to them? He was certainly well within his rights to sign elsewhere out of college, but he still burned that bridge.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jimbo1119</b></div><div>not saying it's the best option- for sure they'd rather be free and clear ASAP. But his contract was made for an eventual buyout. The only truly painful year is just after Panarin comes off the books and the rest of the way just over 1M per year. Again- not ideal, but better than losing a 1st in a supposed deep draft.</div></div>
The counter to the "Deep draft" is that you should be able to find NHL talent in the 2nd early 3rd. Wouldn't a "Deep draft" mean its easier to trade down this year vs a different year?

If that's the cost to move Goodrow, they simply buy him out

Hawks and AZ both decline. Last thing Hawks need is another left shot D man. And nobody is paying anything for Goldy w/ that contract. CBJ pays someone to take him.

Take TRad out of the Hawks deal and at least it's a fair offer to move Goodrow. Still don't think Hawks make the deal though. And Goodrow isn't waiving for Chicago anyway.

Two players that don't seem to fit the Hawks time-line and a 2nd for 20 goal scorer on an ELC. No thanks. On top of that, Goodrow's contract sucks.

Chicago declines. The Hawks aren't paying to take on Manta's cap dump. If anything, WSH will pay the Hawks (or some team) to make it worthwhile to dump his cap. Either that, or they (WSH) will simply buy him out.

Interesting proposal for the Hawks. Mitchell's trade value is fairly low at the moment so the question is does swapping a 4th for a 2nd warrant taking on $8M of cap. I'm not sure it does but I'm intrigued.

Way too many free agents. They're committed to working the kids into the lineup but this roster as constructed blocks nearly every prospect from getting NHL experience. I don't see them signing any of those d-men or Bjugstad. Also Kurashev isn't signing for league minimum. He'll be getting somewhere between $1.5-2M, hopefully with term.

just an idea
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>boilermaker</b></div><div>Interesting. Let's assume the Toronto trade goes down and proceed to the Pittsburgh trade. I don't know if the draft pick value chart equates 14 to 28 and a couple of later picks. If it does PIT. is getting Granlund's cap space for free, so I would take back one of those picks going to the Pens. At that point would the Hawks be happy with 1, 14 and 19? Or would KD make another splash by trading 19 +++ for VAN's 11th and Boeser. Having picks 1, 11 and 14 would be something.</div></div>
yeah maybe the 3rd is dropped. My thinking was granlund would cost a 2nd to dump, so 28+two 2nds and a 3rd would get you pens 1st.
this would be so tough for davidson to pull off in reality because all 3 trades would likely have to be made on draft day

Although, I understand where you are coming from, I disagree. Coghlan is a Right Shot Defensman, a position of which CHI has very little depth at. I would absolutely buyout Zaitsev and trade Mitchell to throw Cogz into the lineup and see what happens. He has shown flashes of great play and is at a ripe age for a breakout season. He is also a pretty good skater which is something CHI covets. At the price of Blackwell, I think both him and JP would be great candidates for low trade cost, low cap hit, low risk, possible high reward, acquistions.

Hawks decline. With Myers, a 2nd round pick is unlikely to come back and if it does, it would be one of the Hawks' late 2nd round picks, not what is essentially a late 1st with the Hawks own 2nd rounder.

how do you fix this dumpster fire
Yah, okay. I concur with Garak, of course.
To all fans of teams thinking that Chicago will PAY for a cap dump - or take them on for nothing in return - please stop. The Hawks will easily hit the floor, without having to do ANY of that ****!
You can either dream on that getting rid of a cap dump - or a player with value - to Chicago will cost NOTHING, or you can get real and understand that trading with Hawks (or any team with space) to take on ANY salary to help your team stay under the cap WILL HURT. We've been there; we know... It doesn't matter if a player has to be dealt, even if he has value, if players have to go for your team to comply with the cap.
With the Hawks now on the other side (i.e., having cap space; not scrambling to fit under it), we're going to extract as much benefit as we can with our space. It's our duty, for crying out loud. If you don't feel the pain from making trades with us to comply with your cap struggles or give you maneuvering room, then we haven't done our job.
Peace.

yeah, the trades look fair, but it's up to the TOR and PIT fans to guess whether their GMs would use their resources in this way.
