Hmmm
All trades terribly one sided favoring Chicago.
Monahan too injury prone and not worth 2 x 2M.
If Chicago somehow acquires Myers I'd keep him on the roster and flip him at the TDL. He could replace Regula or Zaitsev.

Build Around Bedard
No way Chicago does that ARI trade. Can't see them trading 2 young players who will become regulars in the lineup and 2 1st round picks in a deep draft. And to a future division rival yet.
I like the Manta trade but it depends how desperate the Caps will be to shed salary.
Unless there is someone the Hawks really, really likes at 31 or 32, I'd keep the two 2nd's.

Coghlan is a Right Shot Defensman, a position of which CHI has very little depth at. I would absolutely buyout Zaitsev and trade Mitchell to throw Cogz into the lineup and see what happens. He has shown flashes of great play and is at a ripe age for a breakout season. He is also a pretty good skater which is something CHI covets. At the price of Blackwell, I think both him and JP would be great candidates for low trade cost, low cap hit, low risk, possible high reward, acquistions.</div></div>
I didn't know Coghlan was a RD. It may be worth it taking a flyer on him, and move on from Zaitsev and Mitchell.

Utilizing Cap Space
Huge overpays for O'Reilly and Killorn. And with their Stanley Cup pedigrees, they would likely want to sign with contenders.
Nothing against you Patches, but personally I'm tired of seeing that Murray to Chicago trade for an exchange of picks. It's about right in value going back and forth but without Dubas GMing at Toronto, I can see them seeking other ways to rid themselves of Murray.
Since Dubas looks like he's headed to PIT and with his trading history with Davidson, that PIT trade may go down.

Leveraging Cap Space
Something to remember regarding these draft pick trades is that other teams, DET with #17 and 3 2nds, and STL with 2 late 1sts also have the draft pick capital to move up. So a VAN or PIT may be in the position to take the best of 3 offers for 11or 14. Acquiring either pick may require an overpay.

Sabres
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rktkt66</b></div><div>Murphy has been on my wish list for awhile because of how good a fit he seems with what the Sabres have/need but that package for him is far steeper than it should be. I know most fans are dismissing Olofsson as this worthless player that will be a cap dump out of desperation but he's a three-time 20+ goal scorer - those don't grow on trees, regardless of mediocre defensive play. Even though he had some expected rough stretches as a rookie, UPL's age and potential also don't qualify yet as bust with no value.
If Buffalo were to add Murphy, he just seems like a tailor-made partner for Power - just like Samuelsson's more physical, defensive-oriented style allows Dahlin more freedom to freewheel offensively, Murphy would provide a similar safety net so Power can advance his offensive contributions more than he was able to last season. Murphy's also a more physical player who would compensate for Power not being that.
In the end, I just don't think the Hawks - despite the publicized scorched earth path they've been on - will deal Murphy; they seem to like him and Jones to be part of their veteran leadership to all of the kids they'll bring in.</div></div>
I've been up on the trade Murphy bandwagon for quite a while. But I agree and think Chicago values his leadership and mentoring capabilities and won't trade him. I even think Murphy would be a leading candidate to have 18 year old Bedard live with him this season.
But getting back to the trade, if we're wrong about the Murphy and Chicago love affair, maybe Buffalo can keep Luukkonen and just trade Olofsson and the picks. Oloffson is likely to have a decent 20-25 goal season, and if he shows no interest in extending with the Hawks, could be flipped at the TDL to garner more assets.

Tryna be realistic so bare with me
Chicago definitely does not make that trade. They don't need Foegele or Yamamoto and Raddysh is a good, cheap, up and coming forward that may be part of the Hawks long term (I hope anyway). So Chicago is potentially trading away the best player in the deal, and EDM is gaining a few million in cap space for the cost of a 3rd pound pick.

Still cant believe this happened
Chicago fan here. if you go back and change the past you affect the future. If Bowman didn't make that trade and stayed, at the time, on his one year rebuild program, he most likely wouldn't have burned down the roster by trading away Debrincat and Dach last summer, and instead would be rebuilding the team around them, Boqvist and Sillinger. Of course this ignores the fact that Bowman lost his job due to the Beach scandal. Maybe his successor Davidson would have kept the existing rebuild intact and wouldn't have made those drastic moves last summer. Long story short they wouldn't have finished 3rd from the bottom in the standings last season and wouldn't have won the 1st overall pick and the grand prize in Bedard.

I know Davidson says he doesn't want to sign a free agent to a long term deal, but whats his definition of a long term deal, 5,6,7 seasons? He can offer Domi 4 x 4.5M. Even considering Texas' lack of a state income tax, Max would still be money ahead by signing with Chicago. Plus he has the chance to pay with Bedard and under Coach Richardson who he likes a lot.

Chicago has tons of cap space, need to acquire some cap dumps and has deep pockets. They would take Murray if a 2023 1st round pick is offered as a sweetener. Like you said they can LTIR and pay him not to play (I assume the contract is insured anyway) or buy him out. In fact Toronto could do the same and not trade away the Boston pick.

Everything I read says the Canes need more offense. Instead of offer sheeting Miller, offer sheet Cole Caufield for something in the $10,000,000 range. Carolina has the cap space and picks to do so. That would be entertaining given the past history between Carolina and Montreal.

Well, I am all for acquiring some cap dumps that bring along some picks, but most of these are one sided in favor of Chicago.
Looking at your line up for next season, Bedard is missing. Also, your defense is loaded with veterans. It's time for some of the young D like Vlasic, Phillips, and Kaiser to play regularly, show what they got, and to determine if they'll be in the mix long term.

That Toronto/Chicago trade involving Murray and the Boston 1st to the Hawks in return for a 2nd round pick is popular here on ACGM. I realize it's based on and similar to last year's TOR/CHI trade involving Mrazek. If Dubas was still around as the Leafs GM I could see him working with Chicago's GM Davidson again on that type of trade. With Dubas out of the picture, I think there's little chance of it happening. Although, I would like to see he Hawks get another 1st round pick somehow.

The only way I see the Hawks acquiring Myers is if they trade Murphy. Myers would take his place at RD for a season. Ideally, get a decent pick and/or prospect for Murphy and also an adder from the Canucks to take on Myers' cap hit.

And Alex Regula is knocking on the door for a roster spot. There's no room on the right side unless someone goes. If Murphy gets traded then there's a possibility that the Hawks consider exploring a trade for Myers but for only a 6th there might be better options or better dump returns.</div></div>
I'm not a fan of this Myers trade either, but the Hawks depth at RD isn't that great. Jones is going to be here, Zaitsev could be buried in the minors, Mitchell may not be qualified, and Regula won't be a regular, maybe an injury call up at best. As for Murphy, he's got the most trade value. Personally I would like to see him moved at the draft so Davidson can get another high pick. If Murphy is moved then Davidson can take on a RD cap dump (Tyler Meyers/Tyson Barrie type) and pick up another pick along with the player.

The defense is a mess. Regula is solid and will play up and get his chance likely. Maatta? Why when we trade McCabe would we do that? The point of trading McCabe is to make room for the young guys not bring in another vet.</div></div>
I got the message about Wilson. Not a good proposal on my part.
Regarding Regula, somehow I accidentally buried him and couldn't retract it.
The proposed roster already has Mitchell, Roos, Vlasic and Phillips playing regularly. Without McCabe and Murphy, I added Maatta as a veteran placeholder for a year. He could be replaced with either Jack Johnson or Tinordi, or another cheap UFA defenseman.

*if so, please post a link
But half the guys on this list aren’t prospects anymore, they’re on the Sabres roster & playing regularly
Guys at numbers: 1, 2, 3, 5, 9, & 10 are all playing for us
I think it’s more that we’re stacked with guys that would fall into the tier of “B level” prospects
While most teams have 5 or so guys in this tier, we’ve got at least a dozen
So i guy like Bloom was ranked 19th on the list i posted the link to, but really, you could flip a coin between him & anyone from 11 on imo
I’ve never seen him play other than highlights, & everyone’s highlights look good. Everything I’ve read on him seems to be fairly positive though, & he seems to be progressing nicely. Way too soon to guess what he’ll end up being though.
Rank seems to be from career AHLer to decent middle6 guy
But you’re right- we are overloaded & don’t have room to give all these guys the chance they deserve
Makes total sense to move some along in packages to get a good player to help us</div></div>
Here's a link to a recent Athletic story by Scott Wheeler describing the top 15 Sabre prospects. I used it as a refernce when making the Buffalo trade above. One man's opinion for sure. As for the Murphy return, besides the 2nd round pick and for reasons discussed earlier, I think you can part with someone decent. My whole thought process with this particular ACGM proposal was to construct a bad 2023-24 Chicago team that would be in contention for another top 3 pick next summer, and also get a young forward from you who can contribute in 2 or 3 years.

So what's with Bloom? He wasn't on Wheeler's top 15 Buffalo prospect list. Is he hurt, having a down year, or does Wheeler not know what he is talking about?
I know Buffalo fans love all their prospects and I'm envious of you. But sooner or later you have to trade some of them for some veteran pieces to fill in the holes in your roster. Down the road, you're not going to advance far in the playoffs with 20 players in their early to mid 20's on the roster. And sooner or later these prospects are going to lose their waiver exemptions, so it's either play on the parent club or risk losing them for nothing via waivers. Just my two cents.
