Gusev will likely get a low amount for 1 or 2 years, as he has yet to prove himself.
WK had a down year, but probably will get more like 6M. To fix that, they'd probably have to trade either Holden or Reaves for cheap downgrades

I'm very much not a fan of Glass playing 4th-line minutes, especially alongside Reaves. As a high-end skilled center, he won't develop with limited minutes or subpar linemates. Not a shot at either Pirri or Reaves, but neither should be NHL regulars. Good chance Haula gets moved too: solves the money issue and gives Glass a more optimal place to play in the lineup. Otherwise, Glass is going to be looking at a year in the AHL, and from everything I've heard about the kid, isn't where he should be playing next season.</div></div>
I put Glass there as a filler, should have clarified that. It would probably be someone like Nosek or an FA, signed for around 800-900k.
Agreed he needs really good minutes, or to spend the year in the AHL. Him and Reaves together would be a waste.
Eakin did really well this year, but I'd probably move down to a 3rd now that I look at it. I simply said that based on the fact Boyle got a 2nd, but realized that Boyle was at TDL and got overpaid for.

100% true. Lots of guys here, especially the older NCAA ones, will probably go to the ECHL and post their PO roster. That being said, if the Marlies clinch a spot they may decide to test guys out rather than tiring out or injuring guys like Borgman and Mueller who have struggled with injuries.

I understand why you would think so tho, Kappy and Johnsson have good chemistry and the line was great for a while. I just think Matthews and Nylander have settled together quite well.

There's no way he's signing for $5.25M when he just took a 1 year deal to earn a better longer term deal. He's earned it. & with the cap going up next year, he'll be in line for a nice raise. $6.5M on a 8 year deal would be the starting point or he walks.
Other than that, overall it doesn't look too bad</div></div>
Personally I wouldn’t drop pirri, they need the depth to resign. I would probably trade Reaves and resign Nosek (or sign someone else cheap) and give the extra 1 million to Karlsson.
That or trade Holden and figure out something there, but I have liked Holden (to my surprise). Reaves can be traded for quite a bit because the demand for a player like him is high with every team.

Absolutely. His NHL potential is low, but he's gonna be a solid Marlie by the looks of it. He does a great job of making space for him to use his shot, which Is pretty good.
Ideally a 2/3 LW for next season, a good playoff piece this year. I have really liked him with Timashov and Engvall, they've made up for losing Mueller and Moore really well.

Why would we trade KAPPY AND JOHNSSON for Pesce? We could keep one, get rid of Ferland, maybe add a pick to the Pesce deal.
Wayyyyyy better IMO, and IDK about Ferland considering his contract ask. I'd rather a young Johnsson or Kappy.

The Marleau Idea
NMC argument is valid, but IIRC Orpik had a M-NTC as well, and decided to let himself get moved because he knew he would be bought out and could find another team. If Marleau can force their hand to buy him out (which he probably can considering he could threaten retirement, and his bad cap hit), he'd be willing to do it.
I admit, ITS A HUGE IF. It's HIGHLY UNLIKELY. But, if possible, its a great idea.
Isn't that what ACGMs are for? Creating new ideas, even if unrealistic in some ways, but making them as reasonable (if they were to happen) as possible? I believe that's what I've done. I've signed reasonable contracts, found a way to keep the majority of the team here, and been reasonable with the cost to perform this trade (although I will admit it would take more, let's just say adding a 2020 second and moving the third to a 4th.)

The Marleau Idea
FTR, this was meant to show the idea that has been posted, but with my own numbers and ideas. This is the same thing that Brooks Orpik did, which worked out great for both the Caps and him. This would likely imply an immediate buyout by ARI, which may require us to give more, and I don't have much of a problem with that.
As much as Zaitzev is bad, yodda yodda yodda, turnover this, turnover that....
he is young, and I wanna give him a chance with Dermott. Its true, the way our d core is set up, we need more dmen, and there are not that many cheap ones on the market. Zaitzev is paid too much. But, he has a lot of term, and with 4 million dollars that's hard to get. He can play while we wait for the swedes (Sandin and Lilly), and if he hasn't bounced back by then, we trade him. At that point, the value to cap down him is also lowered by the term of the deal.
I think if we can pull off the above idea, getting Marleau back and keeping all of those RFAs, it's worth the cost. We lose Brown and a good pick? well worth it considering Trevor Moore's play, and the skill level of our team now. We also keep Zaitzev, and don't cap dump a long term contract (can be very risky if he bounces back) until we 100% need to. If this Marleau idea works instead, why the hell not?

This is 2020, so this would be only possible if he signs a one year deal in 2019. That being said, It's probably not high enough a number either way, I just needed a fringe starter to through in this role, his name was there. Realizing now that someone a little worse would make more sense.

The idea was to trade them for a pick, and if you feel like that will have to be a 5th or something, that's fine.
I just want to open up roster spots for the guys who deserve it more, but if we wanted to keep one of those two I'd be fine with that as well.
The idea of this was simply to show how we might be able to improve the team and allow our guys to grow.
