I get that but I don't think he would be the best use of cap. We were 9th best for goals for, 9th worst for goals against. Love him or hate him, Copp is one of our best defensive options in the forward group.

yeah any other team is fine. it won't be a problem finding smith a spot for a 5th rounder.

Lyon</div></div>
After seeing the way we handled Berggren, you know as well as I do we're not running with three 21 and under rookies next season lol. (Technically four if you count Edvinsson)
I don't mind the Roy idea but realistically unless we're trading a mid round pick to get early access, it's no guarantee we get him.
Also the glaring issue I see with that forward lineup is Raymond/Debrincat/Kane/Keller is a tiny group of Top 6 wingers. Raymond would be the biggest of the group.

Detroit passes, Our strength is at LHD, We're not surrendering that 15th overall pick for a position we absolutely don't need.

Tell me once again, Why would we make this offer? We already have more LHD then we could ever use. And this dude would be at the very bottom of them. Detroit passes 100%

Detroit passes, Rakell makes more than Holl, Even with $1,000,000 retained Rakell makes $600,000 more then Holl. If we buy out Holl that clears at least $2,266,667 or something like that. That pretty much lets us re-sign David Perron for a year or two.

Detroit trades their 2nd best forward (Probably headed toward being their best in 2-3 years) for a young LHD.
Guhle is great. Gonna be a real good defender... We have Edvinsson, Wallinder, Johansson, and Buium all on the left. We're not giving you Raymond to get ANOTHER LHD.

I agree with you on the value of Sturm for sure, the first is more about dumping Copp and covering the cost of Sturm. Copp has a MNTC not a no trade clause, that being said a bottom feed is prolly on his list as well as the Canadian teams. I think JGP from the islanders is another candidate.

Detroit passes. They have tp resign Seider and Raymond, pick up an RHD to play behind Seider and probably get another goalie. Plus Detroit has LHDs coming out of their ears. So taking on $4.5M in cap for the 3 seasons for a 32yr old dman they don't need, doesn't make a lot sense.

Markstrom isnt worth anything close to that price. Lyon has the same save percentage and he makes 5 million less. No ones giving up that much for a 34 year old. Also, if the Wings want to get rid of Husso they'll just buy him out.
