What Would It Take
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Don' think the Oilers would have any choice but to accept. Otherwise likely the Habs offer 6.3m X 5 offer sheet of a first and third, which Oilers couldn't come close to matching and Bouchard likely accepts.</div></div>
I disagree about the Oilers not matching, every team can exceed the cap by 10% in the offseason. This means that the Oilers have the 5.9 mil cap space + 8.35 mil overage to match. IMO they would instantly match and deal with the cap issue later by trading assets or paying to dump some closer to the end of the offseason.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Epic_Ninja_Dude</b></div><div>Canucks easily decline. The point of trading Boeser is to create cap space to improve the rest of the roster and help ease the logjam we have on the wings. Moving Boeser for Hoffman fixes neither of our problems, all it does is give us a winger who is worse than Boeser, older than Boeser, and at nearly the same salary.</div></div>
Not saying Vancouver would do the deal cause I don't believe they would but 2.15 mil difference and a year less isn't nearly the same salary. Also I don't think this was so much a proposal ad the OP was just looking for trades where the players had similar values.

Holy crap on a cracker, what an overpayment!!! When was the last time you saw a goalie prospect go for more than a 1st round pick?! Hell a lot of experienced NHL goalies don't even get 1st round picks.

Kidney Calgary pick and pick 37 this year</div></div>
If you don't like the comments stop trying to trade PLD to Montreal. We don't need to trade for PLD, we can simply wait and see who we take in the draft and revisit signing PLD next year when it costs us 0 assets.

Still not worth 2 1sts +. Mailloux whether you like him or not still has 1st round value. PLD is on an expiring contract, looking to get anywhere from 7-9 mil on his next deal, wants to test FA so will only sign a 1 year deal, is not a 1st line center, isn't better than Horvat or Meier and Montreal is too weak at RHD to consider Barron or Mailloux in a trade. For all these reasons he will not fetch 2 1st round picks + in value. I seriously doubt that we trade either Mailloux or Barron and Gawanke is an AHL lifer so really isn't going to replace the loss of either of our prospects.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Howie</b></div><div>They would lol give up its fair</div></div>
They actually wouldn't, this is equivalent to 2 1sts + a 2nd and cap offset. It's way more than the Sharks got for Meier and the Canucks got for Horvat. Take out Mailloux and add some more protection to the Flames pick incase it becomes an unprotected 2026 1st.

Matheson, Guhle, Harris, Xhekaj all LHD that can play the right side. Barron, Savard, Kovacevic, Wideman all RHD NHL level D men. Even if you subtract Eddy we still have too many LHD that can play the right side who are equal or better than Girard and we still may end up having to move one of them, so making a move to acquire another LHD makes 0 sense for the Habs

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SKWPG</b></div><div>MTL may want to do that. They probably want to get off Hoffman now and probably think WPG is desperate.
WPG doesn't want Hoffman and I can't seen Mailloux being reinstated any time soon and someone WPG should stay away from. The 2025 pick is quite far away, so doesn't help WPG with the rebuild.
Again, the best option I feel is Kidney, Dvorak and the FLA pick MTL has in the first round of the upcoming draft.
If I were speaking on behalf of WPG, I would hope for more from MTL. May need to add some more on both sides to make it more of a win win. Get creative.
OH.. hang on. WPG has the man with no creativity or plan at the helm... Chevytakestoomanydaysoff. Argh.</div></div>
1. Montreal isn't giving up 2 1sts + worth of value for PLD and an AHL lifer D man.
2. Mailloux is aging out of the OHL this years so he will at least be AHL bound and the NHL will have to allow for him to be called up if injuries happen, so at some point this next season he should be cleared to play.
3. Hoffman (retained) has positive value and even if you don't view him as having value he is a cheap buyout
4. Agree the most likely trade is Kidney, Dvo and the cats 1st

Taking on Myers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Juiceman</b></div><div>They aren't that bad enough, and certainly are not that desparate for 1 year of cap space. Use some common sense. The Canucks are not a contender, its not like they need cap space for a huge deadline acquisition. They also don't have any top players that need to get paid this offseason. No reason to further worsen our prospect pool as this does not make us better now, or in the future</div></div>
Look, I wasn't saying the Canucks would or should pay to dump contracts. I was only commenting on the thread itself and the OP said we were taking on Meyer as a cap dump. It's not my thread, I only said <strong>if</strong> the Canucks were that bad off, meaning the had to move contracts then they need to pony up the going rate which is a 1st. The fact remains <strong>if</strong> Montreal or any team is taking Meyer as a "cap dump" it costs a 1st for FC not a top 4 RHD prospect and a 2nd, we could get so much more value trading Barron and the 2nd for an actual good young player

Because 21 of them are goals which are a hell of a lot harder to tally up than assists. Also size, speed and physicality are important aspects at the NHL level as well

I think he is, Reinbacher is 18 playing in the 3rd best league in the world. Neither Mailloux or Barron were anywhere close to playing against men at 18
