<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>goodfoot64</b></div><div>That's a helluva lot to give up to take on 6 yrs of a horrible contract! In 2 yrs Chicago will be desperate to give Seabrook away.</div></div>

Yeah I figured Chicago fans would go crazy if they did not get enough return for Schmaltz. A 22 year old center with a 50 point year under his belt, plus he would already have chemistry with Boeser is why Van would give up so much. Vancouver could maybe take out one of Lind or Goldy. But Tanev, Granlund arent part of their future core. With Schmaltz that locks up Vancouver down the middle, so Petterson can stay on RW.. So with Boeser, Petterson and Virtanen not much room for Lind.. plus Jasek looked good during his AHL stint. I personally like Goldy and I think should be given more of an opportunity but I feel Green will never trust his defensive play so that makes him expendable.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>clark</b></div><div>hawks might do the deal, but why does Seabrook waive his mmc. don't tell me he lived in Vancouver half a life time in the past.</div></div>

This is hypothetical obviously Seabrook probably wont want to move his NMC clause, but if Chicago makes it known they do not want him anymore, or tell him he will start getting healthy scratched more regularly then that could convince him to waive. As for his hometown, yes he grew up there and that was a 'life time' in the past and Chicago is now his home... but he does spend some of his summers in BC and his family still lives out there, so you may think its crazy to think where you grow up means nothing anymore but it makes it more enticing then other places for him to waive his NMC. Seabrook's won 3 cups, so winning the cup probably isn't as important as other players who are still chasing their first. So going to a place where you can play in front of family and a team that will value and give him minutes he is accustomed too, I think its a pretty good fit as any if Chicago wants to get rid of his contract.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>alwaysnextyear</b></div><div>Canucks fan here, and I think that's a pretty fair offer. I'd even sub in the 33rd overall instead of the 55th if it meant the team could end up with the 3rd and 5th overall. I love the Makar selection, but I'd definitely pick Vilardi or Glass over Petterson.</div></div>

I think its a pretty fair offer. As a Van fan i would like to keep the 33rd overall as I think they could grab a good player who just dropped out of the first round.. however I guess depends how high they are on Makar if they think that highly of him than the 33rd could be switched. As for a play making centre at # 5.. Petterson, Glass and Vilardi would be my top 3. I like the idea of a right handed center to offset Horvat here forsure however I think Petterson might have the highest upside out of the 3 if Van is patient. I watched Glass live this year and Vilardi throughout the Mem Cup and both are very good players but there skating as of now doesn't scream # 1 centre in the future.. probably better suited as a really good # 2 center. Skating is something that can be improved as we don't have to look much further than Horvat.. but I just see them as really good # 2 centres. I personally have been really impressed with Horvats development but I still think once Vancouver has been fully rebuilt he would be a perfect number 2 centre. Also from what I have watched neither Glass or Vilardi seemed to have the half wall PP presence that Jim Benning is looking for. From everything I have watched (You should check out his highlights) and read on Petterson the only real knock on him is his slender frame. No real holes in his game plus can run a real efficient PP from the half wall. His numbers playing against men in the Sweden are real impressive especially when comparing previous draft eligible players that played in the same league. I think if properly developed he could be a future number one centre with a higher ceiling than the other two. Petterson also has chemistry with Dahlen who Vancouver is real high on and I think it would be pretty cool for Vancouver to pass the torch on from a Swedish center and left wing in the Sedins, to a Swedish Centre Petterson and Dahlen. But that is just one Canucks fan opinion haha
