Oh I know. I'm not saying they'd do it for free or anything. I'm just saying it's not impossible

Yeah I don't see any of this ever happening. Not very good trades for the Leafs

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>littlejerryseinfeld</b></div><div>You guys doing Marleau trades is like me spending lottery money in my mind after I bought a ticket. At some point you realize you are wasting your time!</div></div>
That's not true. Marleau's contract is structured to have lower salary actually paid in the third year. The salary paid in the third year is a lot lower than the cap hit. Teams like Arizona and Carolina love contracts like that so they can get to the cap floor without paying as much. His contract has some value to teams like that.

How is this the Leafs thinking they can get whoever they want? It's from the Canucks perspective. As a Leafs fan I'd rather Nylander and the seconds over Boeser

Yeah I couldn't see Dubas going for four years and I couldn't see Nylander going for 5m until it was only a one year, maybe two at the very most

3 on 3 OT Lines
They look pretty good to me but I'd switch Gardiner and Rielly personally. I wouldn't want to put Gardiner in until the flow of the ot is established. The first 30-45 seconds can be hectic until everyone settles in so I'd rather have Rielly on for that. That's just my personal opinion though

Yeah even though most of those players being given up are AHL players it's still too much. I'd rather have Nylander and Liljegren and the picks over Karlsson

3 million is actually the exact number I was thinking when I opened this thread too. That's what winning a cup does. It over values your players. Just ask the Blackhawks lol

What I got from Ian Tulloch interview about Leafs D.
Why would you give up Pickard and a 4th and a 7th for a 3rd round pick? That doesn't make sense. He has more value to the Leafs than that. A 3rd isn't worth that much

Nurse?
I'd much rather the Leafs keep their players. Why would they so much for someone who is at best a slight upgrade on Gardiner? I'd rather keep Gardiner kapanen and the picks over nurse. The leafs are fine on the left side. They'd be better off keeping their assets rather than getting another left d

I have to agree with the other commenters. Why are the Leafs giving up so much when they'd be the ones giving up the best player and doing Dallas a huge favor? This doesn't make much sense to me at all

He has completely turned this team around in one year and had returned the team to having a bright future with 3 first round draft picks next year.</div></div>
I do agree that they are looking way better now but I think there is still more work to be done. But you never know. Plenty of teams have squeaked in to the playoffs before anyone expected them to. I think the Sabres will be pretty good again in a couple of years if they keep doing what they're doing.

Wow! What a Trade!
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Herms17</b></div><div>Are we being Punked by this?
Where's Ashton?!
I know your joking around because you think Nylander and marner will sign for less then 6 million each.
Nylander will get 6.2 area - anything less is him doing Toronto a favor since he has had back to back 60 point seasons. (His Comparible is Ehlers but is able to play C. Worth alittle some money)
and Marner will get north of that considering he will probably be playing with JT all season, which will probably add about 20+ points to his last years numbers. So he will sign around 7 ish.
So you will have 11 for JT, 11(maybe more) for Mathews, Nylander at 6, and Marner at 7 million each. that's roughly 35 million coming down the pipes for the Leafs. They will be fun to watch, but they will have a tough time keeping pucks out of their net.</div></div>
The leafs were in the top half of the league in goals allowed so they'll be fine at keeping pucks out of their net. Tampa and Washington allowed more goals than the Leafs did.

Kyle Dubas more like Kyle Dumb ass
I would hardly call that cap hell. I consider cap hell more when you are up against the limit and have terrible contracts you can't get rid of. The Leafs don't have a single contract they couldn't get rid of if they wanted to. Plus the cap is just going to keep rising so in a few years the Tavares/Matthews/Marner/Nylander contracts won't look so bad. When Crosby and Malkin signed their contracts it was a pretty high percentage of the cap but now they look like steals. Signing Tavares for 11 million is a discount seeing as he could have gotten at least 13 million. I'm not too worried about it.
