Colorado Avalanche signed Ross Colton (4 Years / $4,000,000 AAV)
Seem a bit high for a guy of his caliber. With Landeskog probably not playing again, if he has a role on 1st or 2nd line that could become a good deal, but I doubt it tbh.

Montreal Canadiens signed Alex Newhook (4 Years / $2,900,000 AAV)
Could be a great move for Mtl. If it pans out like the Kirby Dach project that would be the best. However, worst case scenario he stays a bottom six foward in which case for that salary that's not that bad, reminder that we paid paul byron 3.4M$ for 4 years back then :tearsofjoy. Jokes aside, good and fair contract for me with good upside

oooooooff. this money and this length for that caliber of goalie... yikes goalie FA class is poor this year. but Ottawa needed a goalie, not that one imo haha

Why sign Anderson and Raanta, when u have Kotchekov at 2M$ ready to play in the show. AAV is not that bad but I just dont understand this move, knowing that Anderson as difficulty staying healthy

(OTT/CHI) - Zaitsev + 2023 2nd RD pick + 2026 4th RD pick for future considerations
That may announce another trade for OTT, for Zaitsev to leave at this point. Good thing for Chi to acquire draft picks and Zaitsev helps them to reach cap floor next season. Depending on OTT next move that could be a good deal for them

Wowowowow. Toronto making a big push, but if they don't win right now... big lost long term. Dubas is all in to keep his job i feel like. However Oreilly could be a good piece down the middle for the playoffs

Because only 6 defensemen get to play each game.
Like is Pitlick a top 12 forward?</div></div>
Yeah i know there are usually 6 dman in a game haha. When I say top 6 for a dman, I consider he should be part of the 6 dcore. In your example you could say that but i prefer to say that pitlick is a bottom 6 player

Good cheap deal for a young top 6, playing top 4 minutes and having the potential long term to play top 4, top 6 for sure.

Zibanejad signed a similar contract one year ago, I would take him before Horvat anyday of the week with that contract. Not a bad contract, but not a steal either. 7-8M$ would have been better considering the contract finishes when he is 35 years old.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DongLord23</b></div><div>The trade is settled before the season even starts lmao?</div></div>
I mean... the fact that everybody is signed long term is what settles the trade. We are not sure who of CGY and FLA is going to win, but it really looks good for CGY. 1st Line wing+ high top 4 def + 1st pick+ prospect for a younger grindier 1st Line wing and a 4th is really good for CGY and entends their Cup window of opportunity

Clearly a good signing. That also settles the Tkachuk trade. Great win by CGY.

Very happy that's not a 8M$ or plus contract. However with 7 years, the last few years of his contract will be heavy on the cap space tho. Surprised he didn't sign with the NYI also with all the rumors going around

(CGY/FLA) - Tkachuk for Huberdeau, Weegar, Schwindt
The fact that Huberdeau and Weegar are UFA next year is the reason why CGY got so much. Considering the fact that both Gaudreau and Tkachuk waanted out, I have no reason to think that Huby and Weegar would want to sign long term either. big Win for CGY right now if both of them Signs, else Florida with the long term win here. Tough to vote on that one

Big deal for the Habs! Less AAV than I expected, the term is not too long and not too short, could play well with Kotkaniemi

With Tampa Cap Issue ( with the need of signing Point), everybody knew they had to trade Erne, so it lowers Erne's value. A 4th isnt toooooo bad tho.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres1108</b></div><div>just misses playoffs imo
once Kotkaniemi is #1C and Caufield is getting 40+ goals a year this team will be a serious contender—question is can Weber and Price still be good by then</div></div>
Yeah it looks good for the future!
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jakethesnake97</b></div><div>Drouin had a season of 53 pts as a RW with Tampa at 19y/0.</div></div>
I would really like drouin to be a 60+ guys. If he was playing with Gallagher's intensity he sure would!
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jakethesnake97</b></div><div>Do you think Juulsen can get a spot in that lineup? In my opinion, I think yes. I would like to see :
Chiarot Weber
Mete Petry
Reilly Juulsen
Kulak Folin
Chiarot did a great job with Byfuglien, why not with Weber? Mete was better when he played with Petry and Reilly Juulsen were tremendously good together last year during the first 20 games. When Juulsen got hurt, Reilly started to play badly. Then I love Hudon, but I prefer to keep my 8 D in MTL and put Hudon on the waivers. We will see what happen with him. If he is claimed, we have Weise, Peca, Varone, Barber, Suzuki, Evans, McCarron that can play some minutes.
Also, with Juulsen in the NHL, you have Ouellet Olofsson Brook Fleury Alzner Leskinen and Slenicka to Laval (solid top 7).</div></div>
Being out of the lineup a long time due to an eye injury last year and due to the fact that he has a two way contract, he's gonna start in the AHL. I think he's gonna get to level he's once been and his gonna get called up really quick.
I think the pair Weber-Mete did great last year and i dont think its a good idea having two guys (mete-Petry) who love going offence on the same pair. Chiarot could get big PK minutes with Weber tho. But i could see Mete getting less minutes on a second pair to have less pressure to play against the best line.
I didnt want to wave Hudon because i think he's gonna be claimed by another team. I would like him to have a chance to proove himself on a good line.

Yeah, idon't think he's gonna repeat his 60 points season, but I assume he's gonna have around 30-40 points. Even if he gets 25 like you said, which left handed def is better than him with the same salary (no ELC)?

Okok I get it, Spezza isnt the one he used to be, fair enough i remplaced him with Sprong. For Demelo, he's not the best one, but he's in a awful team in Ottawa.Would you take him, Devon toews or any player with a similar salary?
Finnaly, Gustaffson is becoming the best defenseman in Chicago with Keith and Seebrook getting older and he put up 60 points last year! He's got to be in there.

Team Canada
If Letang is 100% healthy, I choose him over Pietrangelo, but i wouldnt bother if Pietrangelo was choosen instead.
For Couturier over Oreilly, both play great defensively, i would keep them for Pk time. I think Oreilly with his stanley cup this season and his leadership would be great for this team.
i would have stamkos as a 13th foward for PP time and his scoring ability. However, i like Giroux's 100 foot game better than stamkos, and he's played wing this season.
However i think with either of them, team Canada would absolutely destroy any other team.
