Leafs need a Top 6 LW, DeBrincat is a Top 6 LW. Also, it sounds like there might be a gap between Ottawa and DeBrincat for negotiations. I would agree it is a stretch though and unlikely.

Potential Targets
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>All_Knowing</b></div><div>If the Caps are clearly out of the playoffs at the TDL, I see them possibly moving Jensen and Orlov. I expect Strome to be resigned and therefore, not traded
Orlov (with retention) would receive a package similar to Lindholm (probably slightly less because Orlov is 3 years older). In the year Lindholm was traded, we had 22 points with ANA / that same year Orlov had 35 points. Yes, I know the Caps had a better team, but you gotta think it will be a somewhat similar package (starting with a 1st and a B+/A- prospect
Jensen should return a 1st or a 2nd + B prospect</div></div>
Appreciate the analysis.

As it stands
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>I think that Nick Robertson is more likely to get the first nod than Pontus Holmberg but Yes, this is the nexus of the problem: a 20-man roster, no cap space, and Rasmus Sandin unsigned. Moreover, it's not easy to trade a forward for cap relief because the most likely valuable suspects have NTC's that probably keep them from being shipped to teams with cap space. Unless someone like KERFOOT is willing to go to ARIZONA, it's hard to suggest a realistic solution.</div></div>
The only thing is, do you want Roberstons crack to be playing fourth line.

Dont see him waiving for ARI or CHI
That leaves ANA, BUF and DET
Gonna have to pay to move him without taking cap back and it wont be cheap to any of those 3 teams, especially with 2 being in-division for the Leafs
Ducks decline</div></div>
Thank you for your input, Pat Verbeek. Take 10 firsts for all I care, I am more so focused on the opening day lineup.

Healthy 2022 Playoff Lineup
Sandin has had no success on the right and Boosh is a Bogo replacement, not a top line player. Stop making Gio-Brodie a thing. This teams best D structure was Rielly-Brodie, allowing Rielly to be free in the O-Zone with Brodie covering, Boosh can't do that, while having a second unit shut down pair. The KEM line is staying together. Kerfoot-Blackwell-Robertson could be a nasty fourth as well.

His value is around is around a first and prospect, maybe an additional later pick like goodrow. Not a top prospect and first.

You don't watch much leaf hockey I take it. Holl, Liljegren and Dermot, do not have it to play shutdown minutes against teams top lines.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>So, that isn't how it works in the real world. Muzzin isn't waiving his NMC for a team that can afford his cap. Same with Mrzarek and the Leafs do need two NHL goalies this season, and probably don't won't to go into this summer with no NHL goalies on the roster. Why should the Leafs trade Kerfoot.? He's excellent value at 3.5, Same with Holl, good value at 2m
I'm constantly amazed that folks are so down on so many Leafs Dmen. Leafs have the best GAA in the Atlantic. Trading for a 4.4m Murphy creates more holes than it solves</div></div>
All additional moves I listed are offseason moves. The Chicago trade will be the only deadline trade.
Muzzins NTC kicks is in 2023. He would be an offseason move and has regressed and is playing below his 5.6M cap hit and you have Sandin chomping at the bit.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Exactly. So the Leafs pay Murphy 2.5m more next year, 3m more for Reilly. As I said, totally not doable for the Leafs. But really why do the Leafs need Murphy? Brodie, Holl, Liljegren and Dermot play the right side.</div></div>
Muzzin has lost it and so has Holl. Lines would be, Rielly - Brodie, Sandin - Murphy, 3LD and Liljegren.
Murphy would be the carrier of the 2nd line with Sandin and can afford it as tehy move out Muzzin, Mrazek, and probably Kerfoot.
