we'd have to move one of our top-4, but one of our late 1sts + Neighbours for Hanifin (with an extension) and maybe a sweetener (I don't know, a 2024 3rd or 4th?) would be pretty close, for me.
There's not enough time for it to happen, realistically.

I like Hanifin, but that's a massive overpay.
It also feels like Krug at 50% retained with a 1st is poor value, but I also realize we're in a tough spot with him.

If the Lindros trade is a rough framework of what a Bedard trade could look like:
-Van's 2023 and 2024 1st
-Elias Pettersson (C)
-Thatcher Demko
-Aatu Raty
-Vasily Podkolzin
-at least one more piece, probably two.
and even then, I'm not sure the Hawks accept.

a 33-year old player who's missed 20% of his team's games in the last 5 years, nearly doubled his career Shot %, and would be in the top-10 of highest paid defenders even with 25% retained. He also has a NMC that he can use to limit the number of teams he will accept in a trade.
I don't know what you're expecting here.

moving up from 5OA to 2OA in this draft will cost you at least one extra 1st, probably more.
A 2nd and a 4th would be enough to move up 3 spots in the 20's.

what does that trade look like? If Grier's public comments are any indication, he's more likely to retain 25-30% than 50%.
Karlsson's contract ($8-ishM for 4yrs plus a NMC) and injury history suggests to me the return would be quite underwhelming:
-NHL player with a decent-to-poor contract (for balancing out the money)
-C+/B- prospect
-2nd/3rd round pick

Yep. Maybe they give up the Dallas 1st, but even then I'm skeptical we give that up for a guy that's a UFA in 2024.

Blues aren't going to invest $11m in our goalie situation for 2+ seasons.
A first and a prospect for a couple months of Tarasenko isn't bad. I'd rather have another prospect or possibly a 2nd/3rd than Lehner.

Now if we did a Schenn+Bolduc+1st and lesser player (Borts/Mikkola?) for MT, I'd be all for it. This gives Calgary a top 6 gritty forward, a good prospect and a 1st plus clears out space for Tkachuk.</div></div>
I think we move on from ROR, too. It's tough to see how the finances fit (unless ROR takes a comically big discount), and recent history with Backes/Petro/Perron suggests Army will be unsentimental.

4.6m x 3+ years for a top-pairing LHD (at 23) when Bill Armstrong/Yotes FO has identified him as a franchise building block. they would only move him for a package equal to or better than what Buffalo got for Eichel (without a serious injury or looming NMC, to boot).

Arizona considers Chychrun a cornerstone, and he's on a great contract.
It's one thing if "your best offensive prospect and a 1st" is all that you would give up as a GM, but Arizona is only going to deal him if they're blown away by multiple firsts and 1-2 excellent prospects.
