I agree, that's a tough team to play against.. Also, might not be a bad idea to sub out some of the bottom end forwards for depth D... Team is top heavy.

I don't mind this, however.. Foligno and nash are both about 1-1.5M over paid, Driedger says 3-3,5M, Yandle is going to Boston, and Parise is going to the Island...

Off Season Re-Tool - Deeper without Hyman
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TrueCanuck</b></div><div>Not worth it for Patrick. His offersheet would be around a 3rd round pick alone and with his lack of production, poor underlying numbers, and massive injury history/concern.. he's not worth much more than that 3rd round pick, maybe a later 2nd. I wouldn't be moving a quality 3rd pair defenceman with a little bit of upside in addition to a 3rd for him - Leafs pass.
I'm more than willing to bet that Kerfoot is traded before the expansion draft and Dermott is likely taken by Seattle instead.
For a only.a 6th round pick, I think it's smarter to keep Engvall. If you bury him in the minors it's only $125K against the cap and he could be useful if there's injuries that come up. So unless a team overpays (doubt they do), just keep him for more depth.
Coleman is a good add, especially if Hyman leaves. But I don't think he signs below $4M if he gets 5+ years. I think a more realistic offer is around $3.4M x 4 years but if it goes over 5 years I could see him being over $5M per season.
Erik Haula doesn't fit what Keefe wants as a 3C. He wants a defensive minded guy and that's not Haula. & Craig Anderson is a horrible idea for a backup goalie when Campbell is still unproven ovef a full season and has injury concerns around him. I wouldn't trust Anderson with 2 straight starts let alone 10+ if Campbell gets hurt again.</div></div>
Great insight! I really liked Riley Nash, just didn't get to see enough of him. Thoughts on him over Haula on the third line? Similar cap hit I bet...

They are so great on forechecking and are real beast in PK. Otherwise, I think it would cost more to land Patrick from Philly</div></div>
Yeah, I agree just what they need, however they may find themselves to be very rich men once UFA season opens... Toronto may not be the highest bidder....
For sure on Patrick, I wasn't exactly sure what to offer other than RFA for RFA +... Might be worth a shot for the leafs to take on him...

Keeping the core can it work
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MatthewsFan</b></div><div>Paquette is a healthy scratch with CAR. Why would you want him as your 3C next year 🤷♂️
Not enough for Coleman.
If Hyman wants anything above 4.7mil Leafs need to walk.
Like the Goodrow, Oleksiak, Hakanppa signings. But if you bring in another RD might as well trade Liljegren, no reason to block him. Trade and get an asset you can use</div></div>
I've blocked both Sandin and Liljegren unfortunately, as I don't see them as 5/6 guys. I also feel Rielly won't be back, either traded or UFA... Oleksiak and Hakaanpa add some grit and toughness which we lack.
Who do you suggest rather than CP? what do you think Coleman gets?

Exactly, I think the oil are similar to the leafs in the fact that they may have to overpay to get some guys to come...You'll have to overpay hyman, but man start your career with matthews and then get a chance with McDavid, thats always alluring..

Not necessarily the line-up, as I said I am not a flames fan, but something has to change there. Monahan has been terrible. Gives flames and extra year on the extension for hall, and clears 6M from your books.

I know... I was torn what to do with Engvall as he's been real good. Maybe he slots in the line-up as your utility knife as guys will need nights off come playoff time... He can play for Spezza, Jumbo, Simmonds, Chuky if they aren't going or need a night off?

I would be ok with that....
