Probably if there are a couple of teams after him that start a bidding war. He's such an enigma though so I sold low on him.

And this is only if he wants to move. I know the Hawks would love a 1st but their hands are tied so I can't see them getting the 1st.

This draft has a some top level depth at C/F and you can find a replacement for Toews. There is no one in the prospect pool that projects as a 2C let alone 1C. If you can use a position of relative strength to solidify your team down the middle for the future I would take it. It doesn't have to be Zegras but if you look at Dach, Cozens, Zegras and Turcotte, I would bet that one of them would still be there at 8.

So which is more feasible...
Beaudin and 2020 1st for #8OA
or
Boqvist for #8OA
Like I said, I'm just looking for way back in to the top-10 by using a position that can be filled by 3 different players. Reading the comments, it does seem like an overpay.

How id fix the blackhawks easily part 2
You're basically banking on Seabrook and Keith staying status quo and seeing big jumps from Rutta, Oesterle and Forsling. There's just not enough puck moving ability on the back end to drive zone exits. That D will not hold up to the speed of the likes of NSH, VGK, and WPG just to name a few.

If you want the 3OA, you're probably going to have to start with the 8OA and convince MON there is a pure goal scorer to be had there (which I doubt there is). MON need scorers and Toews does a lot of things well but scoring is just not one of them. The Hawks could sit at 8 and still get Wahlstrom. They don't really need 3OA.

Very Realistic - 1 Forward and 1 Defense add
Seems very reasonable. I agree that flipping Cat with JVR makes more sense. I'd love to see the Hawks have a shut-down 4th line again to take the pressure off of Toews in the d-zone. Maybe add a guy like Jay Beagle or Vermette for your d-zone and PK face-offs.

Or perhaps they trade down and gather more picks if a true 1C isn't there.

Anyone else think they could target a center that projects as a #1 in the draft? With all the recent signings of D-men and Jokiharju looking to get a contract done soon, that is quite a bit of "depth" on the back end. Especially when you have Mitchell and Krys getting contracts in the next year or so. Toews isn't getting any younger and there is not a replacement for him (Schmaltz may fit the bill but then you need to fill his spot). They do have depth at C but most project as 3C to 4C.

Something to Consider
Fair assessments made here. Yes the defense is the same miserable bunch and there would be a lot that would have to go right in order for this to happen. My main point was that this is a possible move for Stan if he really is on the hot seat. Which he should be. Upper management will not be too keen on missing the playoffs by a wide margin after 2 straight first round losses. I think he swings big and this is really the only big swing he can make in the FA market. Is there really any UFA d-men you would want to sign long term?

Hawks Next Year
I think we all have some inclination that the Hawks will have some cap room next year to add a very significant piece or a few significant pieces. Obviously there is more room if AA is traded at the draft. I think the next couple of weeks will be interesting to see if there are any Hogs that can handle full time center jobs next year. I think we can call agree that the Hawks are very weak at center and on D. With the injury to Crow those weaknesses were exposed quite a bit. I would be careful trading away a center without having a plan of getting another impact C.
I honestly have no idea where to even begin with this team right now. It might be the same squad next year with hopeful bounce back seasons for the core.

Anisimov
The Hawks will not retain salary and take on a bust of a prospect they already traded away (who wouldn't fill any holes the team has right now). If you ask Bowman to do that you'd need to include at least a 1st and then a 3rd or 4th.

Some of it might just be posturing on Bowman's side. I saw CBJ offered a 3rd rounder for AA and wanted the Hawks to retain salary. Very low-ball offer so he may be trying to drive up prices on his best pieces.

Crazy Idea - Bobby Ryan
I get it but I don't like the idea of adding another contract with NTC/NMC protection. It will hinder a retooling and will he be in Q's doghouse? Never really watched him closely. Adding a RD is a solid idea though.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>polyidos</b></div><div>Seabrook and Anisimov both have NMCs. I don't think either one of them will waive them unless they're moving to a team with a long window of contention or closer to their offseason home. Anisimov might approve a trade to a contender like Pittsburgh. After this season, Anisimov's NMC becomes a NTC with a 10 team list that he has to submit - I don't know if that starts during the summer or after the 2018-19 season starts though. I think he's more likely traded sometime after this season.
Seabrook isn't going anywhere. His contract is too long and big to move without the Blackhawks retaining salary and I think they're more likely to wait until there's a lockout and another compliance buyout is added to the new deal, then, buy out the rest of his deal. Hopefully, Seabrook recognizes the deterioration of his skills and retires on his own within the next couple years before the Blackhawks have to resign some of their younger players so none of his salary counts against the cap.
I think the Blackhawks should get whatever they can for Bouma, Wingels, and Kempny. Patrick Sharp isn't going to help anyone in the playoffs so he'll end his career with his last game in a Blackhawks uniform this season. Reset with some younger players including Sikura and resigning Hartman and Duclair and give it another try next season.</div></div>
This is absolutely a valid point. His contract is an albatross. I was trying to find someone with a similar contract and Bobby Ryan is what I came up with. I was just thinking if you could move him that opens up space for a puck moving d-man. Obviously you can open up spots by trading any of Kempny, Rutta and/of Gustafsson. As for retirement, would they be on the hook for any remaining salary? I'm not positive on how that works, if he retires with years left on his contract.

It's not like he can turn to his family and say it's a reason regarding winning.</div></div>
This is a great point! I had no idea that he had just built a house in Chicago. I would completely agree that it is not a realistic trade. I missed on that one for sure. Do you think he would accept a trade to VAN? Or maybe SEA when they enter the league? Would he be so fed up with the locker room that he would actually think about waiving?

Wingels wants to be in CHI so they can get a pick and then resign him in the summer. By offloading Seabs you open a spot for a free agent signing in the summer (Carlson or de Haan). The backend becomes more mobile. Plus even though Ryan has a higher cap hit, he's signed for 1 less year. First for Arty sounds like a given at this point (hopefully someone overpays).
