To not accept the fact Faulk is better then Gardiner Zaitzev Carrick Ozhigenov etc... its ridiculous. Leafs fans are notoriously hard to talk to but you my good sir top all, enjoy being blocked you arrogant smarmy little piece of work <3</div></div>
I did look at Faulk's advanced stats as you suggested. Every year Faulk has little defensive zone face-off starts. Last year 36%. Seems like the coaches are afraid to have him in defensive zone...which is why he is a 3rd pairing, nothing wrong with that. Gee, you think Andersen bailed the Leafs out all season long. Strange the Leafs back up Mcillerney has a better GAA and Save % than Andersen. Defies all odds that the Leafs goalies bailed them out for all 82 games.

Rangers - Jackets trade
rangers aren't in buying mode, don't expect them to trade for panarin unless it's a 4th round pick to negotiate a deal with him before FA starts. Gorton openly stated that they aren't moving andersson, chytil or howden to wing.
you trade hayes for a young defenseman, keep kreider around and let the kids fill in. Dubinsky has negative value rn

Winnipeg Jets signed Blake Wheeler (5 Years / $8,250,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Willian_Cardoso</b></div><div>He's a 30 bottom six player, never reached 20 goals in his career, never played more than 71 games. Most of the seasons he just passed 60 games. Besides, he still has 3 more years left in his contract. Defensively, he's a good player indeed. But a +4M contract for more 3 seasons is too much for a 30 bottom six player. I'm sure that any team which accept to get him and his bad contract will ask for a good compensation or a good retaintion of his salary.</div></div>
Seriously? Good compensation or good retention? He's been scoring at a 40-50 pt rate for his entire NHL career. Not only that, he was one of the best play drivers last year with a CF% of 56.72 which led WPG and had a xGF% of 58.84. And, he had a positive impact on all but one of the teammates he played 100+ minutes with.

Trouba wont accept any thing less then $7 million per, No way he signs for $800.000 more then what he's currently making now. The odds of Trouba signing long term with the Jets is slim to none. Still think he goes to either Tampa or Florida with Detroit being his 3rd option.

For the same reasons Jets want to get rid of Little, is the same reason other teams don't want him. Too much money, too much term, potentially too old and declining. Why is do people still believe Trouba is signing long term with Jets.

I love these WPG post Wheeler deal ACGM. They all just include trading older Vets with NMC and NTC to clear cap for Paying for a player that doesn’t want to be there long term.

Sure, Wheeler isn’t going to be worth $8.25M when he’s 37. But considering the Jets are in a prime position to win a championship, it would be foolish for them not to resign one of the best and most consistent RWs in the game.</div></div>

Okay, but Wheeler isn't going to actually retire three years before his contract expires because then he wouldn't get any of the money owed to him.

Laine
Here is a twist:
BUF gets Laine, P and Kulikov, D WPG gets Reinhart, S., Guhle, B., 2019 1st round pick (SJS) and 2019 1st round pick (BUF)
Reinhart would be a reasonably good replacement for Laine, Guhle an upgrade over Kulikov, dumping Kulikov contract and 2 1st round picks. IMHO would be a decent return for Laine. All the same, I think both teams would pass on this trade. Winnipeg really does not want nor need to trade Laine and I think Betterall would not try to rush the rebuild. But what do I know, I did not expect the Sabres to finish last either.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>clark</b></div><div>good idea. If only Habs would take some more cap likelittle or kulikov, jets would really be set for next year.</div></div>
Not a bad deal. There would need to be a prospect swap but I could see this happening (even though I'm one of the few Habs fans that want to sign Patches long-term).
If you want us to take cap from you I'd rather Kulikov cause we can actually use a LD and he's UFA-2. If you wanted us to take Little then you'd have to really sweeten this deal. Not saying Little is bad by any stretch of the imagination but $5.3m for another 6 years for a player that is already providing diminishing returns is always a risk. OR, if you prefer, we'll take Little at his full term/cap hit but you need to take back Alzner with his full term and cap hit. You get some cap relief and some term relief

My team
Jooris, Ennis, Terry would be in 2020 long in Swiss mountains or in Venice in Italy enjoying their european hockey tenures and Wheeler is staying in WPG, Cammaleri would be long retired, Connauton is not worth half of that and I doubt we would sign Hamonic.
Also Nylander gets mil less than that, Matthews and Marner are right value and other RFAs would get more than what you showcased.
Also where do you have all prospects that would be signed?

And as for the cap savings I think the obvious move after a few months into this season is Carrick. He can either play in that final spot or he cant. But no sense spending 1.3 mill for a bench warmer.

Maple Leafs Realistic?
Just another TORONTO slappy thinking every other GM is stupid or wants the Leafs to win a cup.
Marleau has a NTC and he is not waving to go to Minny.
Wings give up way to much to get nothing back.
If you think you are helping them with cap issues then why do they just make the Vancouver deal and keep Cholowski, who I doubt they would move..
You signed Hanifin, where is the compensation to Calgary?
SO IN CLOSING, NO, NOT REALISTIC

For sure. I think Nylander will want 5-6 years to take him out of the contract at a prime age. Leafs should be setting it at 7 so there is lots of room down the road when JTs deal is done. But this is getting a little ahead of the process also I guess but you always gotta plan

Defensive Tweaks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>clark</b></div><div>the question for the Leaf is whether Kronwall or Gardiner is a better player in 2018/19. </div></div>
Really this is all it comes down to.
Kronwall and Brodziak
or
Gardiner and Lindholm
And really this isn't remotely close. Gardiner is far superior to a worn down Kronwall. You can hate his style, his defensive ability, but matter of the fact is he is an elite skater and puck mover that will get 50+ points. As for the 4C spot, they should only play ~6 minutes a game realistically if we're doing this right. So whatever upgrade Brodziak is, is not close to worth a severe downgrade in Gardiner to Kronwall. Overall just not that well thought out from the OP.

Habs get rid of Weber, Buffalo fnalizes the rebuild
This is a TERRIBLE idea
1) that’s WAY too much for Weber
Too many good assets being given up here.
He’s not A top tier defenseman anymore.
Still good, but has started his decline for sure.
2) Weber is 33 years old and signed for 8 more years
He’s likely got a few good years left,
but we’d still be paying him 7.8mil when he’s
37, 38, 39, and 40 years old
That’s just not smart
Weber’s age & contract simply aren’t a fit
Sorry to be so harsh,
but it would be a very, very bad idea
