Losing backes
so many teams want to dump this off season, it isn't going to be easy. backes might not want to go to a non playoff team at this stage in his career.

Nylander Realistic Trade Value
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonesryan</b></div><div>Lol. I said this was about Nylander's TRADE VALUE.. not that he was going to get traded. I even said in the description that he isn't going to be moved but this is the kinda offer it would take. But as for the cap, there would be $14.8M available after a trade like this for RFA's to sign. & that's before any other trades (Brown, Zaitsev, etc) are even made. After realistic signings of:
Marner - 6 years/$10.5M
Johnsson - 4 years $3.25M
Kapanen - 2 years/ $2.85M
Ozhiganov - 1 year/ 875K
Greer - 2 year/900K (if acquired)
that leaves Toronto about $3.5M over the projected $83M cap. Moves can easily be made to accommodate for that. As I said, Brown or Zaitsev can be moved. Marleau may retire. There's options. But 1 option that won't be used is the one that you seem to always think that Nylander is a cap dump. That was my point of this post. To indicate Nylander's TRADE VALUE. Which was clearly stated if you read before you commented.</div></div>
your math is wrong. 3.5m over the cap, even if you trade players you have to replace with cap players. zaitsev probably can't be traded with cap being returned to the leafs.

barrie isn't that good to sign long term. leafs with heavy expenditure at forward will still probably going with inexpensive d including sandin, liljegren, rosen in 2020.

Tough moves
kulivov and his one year left on his contract might be ideal for Ottawa. he can play and Ottawa can use short term help and cap. Perrault could be a senator too, but the return won't be much. the jets and some other teams, leafs, lightning, pens, Vegas, ducks might be in dumping mode also.

Columbus also appreciates the better player/potential of Dubois than Dubois. those picks are are long way away from being NHL players if ever

thanks for reading my post.....and proving my point. I said teams did not take on cap those cost them money.....
datysuyk had retired. he never costs the Arizona any money just cap hit......pronger....LTIR, just a cap hit Bolland LTIR (just a bit of money), but Arizona got players. Clarkson...equal contracts as Horton...money the same due to Horton's uninsured contract, but Horton was on LTIR so Leafs got cap relief.
Shall I go on?

CBJ takes Alzner CGY accepts Tkachuk trade instead of matching offersheet
Three trades heavily favour Habs. Don't you Calgary would force the Habs to make a 4 first rounder offer sheet at a premium price instead of making a trade for three picks? And to think Alzner is worth 2nd and 4th rounder. Laval Rockets player with a cap hit of 4.6m.....let's see, no ain't worth that.

nice work will. might have overpaid for kadri but the idea is good for good for the jets and the leafs. leafs can't afford Myers so his rights don't mean much to the leafs. all those deals might acceptable for all teams

When I think they can make moves
if you have cap might has well keep sekera. oilers only hope is that there young players become good nhlers. oilers need to get better otherwise they will have to continue to overpay for ufas. good teams can attract ufas at a fair or even below market price.

Anaheim Ducks signed Jakob Silfverberg (5 Years / $5,250,000 AAV)
Silvferberg is fine but he's a 40 point guy now making over 5m. seems to be too much. what team would have offered more?
tampa has a good team but some of those middle forward contracts are going to cost them a good player. but it's not really a big problem as it happens to most teams.

thought the leafs might what the abrasive kassian, and the oilers would hope to unite the brown with mcdcvid hoping for rekindling junior magic.

Bridge deal for point and fut
does anyone really believe that point will waive his long term security just because tampa has hampered themselves with multiple no trade contracts and some iffy overpayments for some players. sure tampa has assembled a very good team, but a low ball team offer sure invites offer sheets or at least the threat of signing one by Point.
