Well idk but colorado is loaded with young dmen. Byram for example might not be a priority with makar and girard and graves all young playing great and timmins on the way. Maybe an older option like deangelo or dumba. Im not really sure. Its not likely so i havent looked too close at it.

I can see trading mantha especially if you get the first pick and get laf. That being said youd trade him for a young defensman probably amd most likely to a contender not someone in the same position you are. Its unlikely but never say never

Don’t like the Mantha trade; Brannstrom hasn’t shown much (he’s still only 20, I know) and would have to be a 2020 first. I think TB will be ripe for the pickin with RFAs this summer so we may be able to get a piece there..

Nobody really knows why, but offer sheets don't seem to be happening. This offseason seems more likely than previous offseason for offer sheets, but I still don't think we'll see any.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mtdavis311</b></div><div>Even in the 6-8 range, that's giving up a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick. I don't think either Johnsson or Kapanen are worth that return.</div></div>
Kapanen will be in the $4M-$4.5M AAV range and Johnsson will be slightly less. Laine and Point have the highest potential for an offer sheet in my opinion, especially Laine if he underperforms in the postseason. Most likely WPG will offer a bridge deal at a higher AAV in order to keep him. I'm thinking 3 years at $8.5M No way WPG can justify higher than Wheeler given their role and importance to the Jets.

RFA Market
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>cmuggym</b></div><div>I think you're right in terms of the high end players (Marner, Point etc...) but I can teams targeting guys in that 6-8 million dollar range. Kappaned or Johnsson being prime candidates. Now like I mentioned these player are high quality so even if they get offered teams will likely do everything they can to match. But I still think we'll see a few offer sheets this summer</div></div>
TOR can't possibly match an offer of over $5M for either Kapanen or Johnsson. I think they'll sign in the $3.5-$4M AAV range. Perhaps Kapanen will be a little higher than Johnsson.

With what current RFA compensations are and the contracts the high-end talent are going to get (i.e. Marner/Point), I'm going to say no offer sheets. More likely an RFA gets traded if the team can't sign him.

and if Marner 9M they are at 80.9M with 16 players under contract because Horton has to be on the opening training camp roster who gets traded Marleau Kadri Nylander Muzzin Zaitsev or Rielly

This is a great contract, Dubas so far has been good and this makes his trade deadline and outlook on the offseason alot easier. Interested to see how he does. Anyways this contract benefits each side.</div></div>
This is not a great contract. They bought ZERO years of FA. The AAV is fine, but the term ruins it.

The money is fine but *unless im mistaken* this deal isn't too good for the leafs because this makes him a UFA as soon as his contract is up

Matthews gets paid the 2nd highest AAV in the NHL and Toronto doesn't buy a single year of UFA. Good Job Dubas.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>cmuggym</b></div><div>So this site says they have just under 8 million in cap space for next year. With that 8 million they have to resign Marner (11) Kapanen (3.5) Johanssen (2.5) and Sparks (2) for a total of 19 million how is that possible? They are screwed or can someone at least explain to me how they plan on doing this?</div></div>
One of their players goes on the LTIR and relieves 5M+

It makes it tough....Two lines and thats it..

What's with the picks? Nyquist will get at least 5 x 6 and Winnipeg can't afford him and they don't need more wingers. What gives on the 2020 and 2021 picks? If we're dealing this players at the 2019 TDL we need picks for this year not next year or the year after. LA is even worse then Detroit and Ericsson has a 11 team trade list. I'd be surprised if LA is on it. A 2019 2nd rounder+2020 3rd rounder for Jensen maybe we're dealing these players for 2019 so those picks need to come back now not later.

thats a lot going on in this one. no chance panarin comes to Detroit. he wants to be a big star in a big spot and thats not Detroit. I think Nyquist gets more somewhere else. the one thing I really love is the myers deal. I love his game and while he isn't an elite dman but he is a top pair guy can play big minutes and doesn't lose his mind in his own zone like our current dmen do. they dont need to spend evevry free dollar now and let the rebuild continue.
