Who does Bill Guerin want
It's a funny thing about prospects. It doesn't matter if you have them if you don't use them. The Washington Capitals used them to get Jaromir Jagr from Pittsburgh. The Pens have to make moves while Crosby and Malkin are still great players. It is great when your prospects all mature at the same time like the Edmonton Oilers or NY Islanders back in there dynasty days. The Penguins are towards the end of there cup era.

Ate at a place in Market Square in Pittsburgh today called the yard. There specialty is Grilled Cheese sandwiches with fancy names. I had the Buffalo Chicken on Grilled Cheese sandwich called the Buffy the Mac Attack Slayer. <a href="https://www.theyardpgh.com/" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.theyardpgh.com/</a>. You don't remember when the Penguins got Dan Hamhuis for a 3rd in 2010? How about Kent Manderville for Billy Tibbets in 2002? Kevin Stevens for John Slaney in 2001. I guess I owe you an apology sir. I just always remember the big one in 1992 when we got Kjell Samuelsson, Rick Tocchet, Ken Wregget and a 3rd round pick for Mark Recchi. Brian Benning and a 1st.

Some of the Penguins biggest trades were with the Flyers!

Risto
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tom</b></div><div>No thanks...would rather have Schultz and Rust....</div></div>
I respect the opinion that the known quality of Rust and Schultz seems to make this a no brainer. There is a chance this trade could work out real well for both teams. The Penguins might lose Schultz at the end of the year and also have some cap issues to clear up. Risto and a 4th round pick obviously would make the Pens younger and make them cap compliant. The biggest gamble is Risto living up to his potential in coach Sullivan's system because he is a physical specimen. The Penguins would rather get rid of there other 2 cap problems in JJ and Gudbranson, but if they are unable to get rid of one or both this would be a serious option to consider.
Buffalo would benefit by getting a solid winger and more flexibility on defense.

What would you ask from the Penguins? I like the Tampa trade because Gourde and Raddysh sounds like something you would put in a salad.

too much for Gudbranson</div></div>
Yeah, the Ottawa trade sucks. I am not sure who would be interested in Schultz because of his contract situation. If the Pens could get rid of JJ and Gudbranson, keep Schultz and have Risto as a 3rd pair they would be set for this year. They could let Schultz go next year or at the trade deadline if Risto worked out.

Adding Rust would not be bad for the Penguins. It would create more cap space to trade for Krieder or Jason Zucker. I like the Edmonton idea and think sending JJ to the Kings is possible.

Idk man
The LA Kings look like the ideal team for a Jack Johnson cap dump. They only seem to have 2 Left defenseman on their roster so we might settle for a defenseman like Paul Ladue. This would give us a little more cap room which is not a bad thing. I think we are going to try and sign Jake Gardner after clearing cap space.

This would be a pretty good trade if you can get Jack Johnson attached to it! Adding size to the Penguins line up is never a bad idea.

some sort of attempt to get under the cap ceiling
I think this was one of the best posts in the last couple weeks for reasonable trades to bring the Pens cap compliant. There is plenty of time for bigger trades if needed during the season. Very nice post.:D

He has to go
I would be curious to find Nashville's interest in Hornqvist, but would be reluctant to trade him. His dedication and work ethic is what the Penguins are trying to return to. His concussion history is a concern, but they could put him on LTIR if needed. The cap savings makes it worth consideration down the road. This is a good post because I think Hornqvist would go back to the Preds if we asked.

Every time I watched him play he avoided the high traffic areas and neglected to play defense. I am hoping we traded for him just to get rid of Kessel and can trade him elsewhere before the season starts.

Philly and Pittsburgh made a huge trade of Recchi, Coffey for Tocchet and Samuelson. I like the idea of trading for Ghost. I don't think the Flyers would want that package. You might have to add Hornqvist. It looks like the money works without the Edmonton and Montreal trades. You are onto a very exciting trade scenario getting Gusev and Ghost. I like it.

Very well thought out. The Penguins are making a lot of moves for players I don't like, but a least they are getting younger. It is going to take over half a season just to see who plays with who and on what wing they will play. Good grief.:grimace
