stephenson at 3.5 is a joke hes easily getting 5-6. Jake is easily getting 9-10 and he already said no to an 8.5 from Pit if im remembering correctly and Bos already let smith go once i dont think it would make much sense for the 5M there trying to resign Jake Debrusk to go to an older version that He already replaced. would need at least 1-2M retention

these are solid goalies that got better overtime. hes easily worth the 10oa and an asset if varlmov was worth 11 and 2nd round and freddy a first and 2nd. stop undervaluing goalies and over valuing pick #s

stop overvaluing picks man. theres a reason teams throw around 1st like candy. top 10 is a solid pick but only about 70% of picks between 9-15 player over 100 games which an even less % are actual stars. Ullmark is a vesna top 5-7 goalie in the NHL and if u dont think its a great fit then fine but stop undervaluing him

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AC14</b></div><div>It was certainly a competitive window. It was directly after winning the cup. I don’t know how much more competitive of a window you’re looking for. That’s also discounting that going into the bubble the Blues were one of the best teams in the league and then half the team got COVID, and let’s not act like the bubble circumstances were great for the nature of being competitive. The gear of the front office at that time was to compete until probably 2025. However the production in general fell off alot with regression from some players and some players being asked to play bigger roles (Parayko taking over for Pietrangelo) but the direction was buying, not planning for the future. We had like 9 20 goal scorers in 21-22.
I don’t think you’re comprehending what a competitive window is for most teams. The ebs and flows for most franchises aren’t near as irrational as most of the O6 teams because frankly it’s shaky if that’s a valid option for the team to still be profitable. The Blues were still geared towards competing until early on in the 22-23 season.
I’m not sure I’m trying to overvalue Krug here. We lack puck moving on the backend outside of Krug. Perunovich hasn’t had one healthy professional season. Faulk and Paraykos best offensive assets are shooting the puck, Leddy doesn’t have much offensive zone ability, and we don’t have a wave of youth coming in that direction outside of guys who can suitably play bottom pair minutes and will probably bounce back and forth between the NHL/AHL.
What I am trying to do though is not extend our window of being on the fringe beyond the 3 years when Krug/Faulks contracts expire and we have flexibility.
I wouldn’t disagree that there probably aren’t many if any takers on Krugs contract at 6.5m especially with where his salary is at until next year. But I also don’t think it’s a good idea to dump the only puck mover on our defense and acquire a bigger contract with more term in return given where we are. Waiting and letting it expire is a better idea than that.</div></div>
100% agree that Krug is ur only good puck moving D but any team buying doesnt care. u have to take Blues problems out if ur going to trade him. dont think for anyother bad contract is smart at all but if u ate half his cap u could probably get a decent prospect or 2nd round pick back
the covid year 100% messed everyone up but after that year it was pretty ovb u guys were done. u didnt have the elite talent to keep going and while u beat the wild u won 2 total games against the avs in 2 years and fell very short the last 2 years.

honestly would be a great trade for Bos. There prospect pool is one of the worst in the NHL and the only real important piece would be Poitras. ik this is all jokes but would be funny to see Kane and hyman as there 2 best Fwds.
other 2 trades are horrific and the NHL would veto it and investigate it as insider bribing

Ham and cheese
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AC14</b></div><div>Are we going to discount the years when he was with the Blues when the Blues were in a competitive window?
Krug is still the same player, he has the same strengths and definitely has the same weaknesses. He’s overpaid regardless of how it’s spun. But he also had 2 very good years with the Blues since coming here, and the Blues in general have been in a transitional state for the last two years. The first of which was pretty injury riddled for him.
I’d find just as much caution with Gaudreaus contract as I would with Krugs, but Gaudreaus ceiling is certainly much higher which you’re paying for in AAV and term. Personally I don’t think he’s a great fit for STL, or for Columbus really for that matter.</div></div>
I would also say geaudreau isnt really a great fit in STL but Krug ceiling is much lower and his floor is much lower and he had 1 good year with STL and the rest have been ok or just flat bad esp considering ur paying him 6.5m. I wouldnt call getting first rounded 2 times and winning 2 games in round 2 a "competitive" window esp considering how rough u guys have been the last 2 years I dont think over valuing a overpaid undersized aging 33 yearold LD is the play. Get what u can and if u want to trade him for another bad contract thats makes sense but it has to = value. u could get something solid if u put some retention on him as some teams could use a LD/ more offensive puck moving D

Gaudreau had a slightly off year were krug hasnt been good in nearly 5 years. he -26 and -31 the last 2 years and his points have been down since leaving Bos. change them to a first and 2nd and maybe thats close but Gaudreau has been the first big name player to sign to CB there not gonna trade him away for ur scraps and bad contract

Rangers offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheBoyDuddus</b></div><div>The value on these trades really depends on the situation. If Brady is forcing his way out of Ottawa then maybe this represents good value but currently his agent has also confirmed that nothing of the sort is true and that there is no request, you have the team saying they want Brady and theyre building the whole team around him and reporters have also looked into it and found no truth to the rumours.
So if we're talking hypotheticals and Rangers fans want to imagine what it could look like if Brady changed his tune then its possible yes. But if you want to make a realistic trade based on the current landscape then no, if the Rangers called and offered this then even with Perreault it's not enough and it would likely take Laf+ as a starting piece to get the conversation going.</div></div>
not saying its perfect value but for what brady is hes not a second comming of jesus and Sens fans seem to think that the only deals they would listen to or talk to other teams are if they get other teams top 2 players top 2 prospects next 3 firsts and theyll still argue its not enough. I think the value on the trade isnt perfect but I dont think its crazy far off especially if they start out very cold and brady isnt playing great.

you are overvaluing Schneider to an other worldly value. kakko wouldnt land u smith straight up. kakko is a struggling young player who hasnt had any breakout year was the #1 over pick and is looking to be a 3rd or 4th liner at best with an expensive name. smith is an established top 6 playoff experienced player who would be going to a team that needs to win in the next 2-3 years. while i think Pit may have to add a pick or 2 for value ur idea of Schneiders value is absurd

my thoughts exactly and kakko value is almost nothing but a mid round pick. there in a hard win now mode so trading a young D who is going to need to get paid in 2 years when ur captain is making 8 and fox is 9.5 so while I agree Pit might have to add a pick or 2 to get the deal i think its easily not far off from a convo.
