Fair enough I figured we have enough undersized forwards but I didn't realize Pelletier's AHL production so far. I'd do the trade either way though.

Myers and Fabbro will need to deals in the next season, and Trenin <em>may</em> or <em>may not</em> require a larger salary, dependent on his play in the upcoming season. Buffalo may need to take salary back. Sadly, I'm not quite sure that they'll be able to "win" an Eichel trade anymore. I feel awful for those fans in Buffalo. :(</div></div>
Yeah ideally NSH would try to ship out one of those big contracts, but that would cost quite a bit more.
Honestly this way NSH has a nasty (if slightly overpaid) 1-2-3 down the middle, and still decent enough complementary wingers for them.

If we're replacing Gaudreau with JVR there's no chance we're competitive. JVR is a fine player but he's not gonna drive play like Gaudreau does, and without anyone to drive play JVR's contract is gonna look pretty bad pretty fast.
We're also barely saving any cap and barely getting any futures in this.

If we're trading Gaudreau it's a rebuild - why would we want JVR

Calgary Lines
1. Big fan of Bennett playing higher.
2. I feel like Nesterov has been solid, and seems to be just as (if not more) comparable to Brodie as Kylington. On the other hand Kylington is younger and could use playing time alongside Gio. I guess they could split time and see who earns the spot come playoff time.
3. I think Lucic has been solid, and I'd like to see him in the lineup. I think he'd look perfect on that 4th line with the speedier Ryan and Leivo.

Honestly I'm not a fan of Mony. Dubois is way more dynamic and can actually carry a line. I like Monahan's value in a trade, and it's not often guys life Dubois are on the trade block.

PLD wants out of Columbus, but Columbus (I imagine) still wants to compete.
CGY gets an upgrade over Monahan, and CBJ gets a similar quality player, as well as a prospect that could contribute as soon as next season.

1st overall pick trade down
If they're trading down it's to get a defenceman like Drysdale - probably trade with Detroit for 4OA
Something like 1OA (Laf) for 4OA (Drysdale) + Veleno/McIsaac/Cholowski

Gaudreau - Tkachuk - Tkachuk would be a sweet line to watch though...maybe Monahan+ for B.Tkachuk instead? Monahan is even a former Ottawa 67 which is neat

draisaitl trade
So you're basically replacing the Oilers core (minus McDavid) with the Panthers core....because the Panthers are definitely a team you want to become like.
Either way, the trade doesn't make sense. Florida is trying to shed salary, and you're giving them a lot of extra salary, plus expecting them to retain a ridiculous amount for a ridiculous term on Ekblad's contract.

Anaheim would probably want Vesalainen and a 1st at least - they apparently wanted Marner/Nylander when the Leafs wanted Manson.

Spend that Money Pietrangelo Cirelli Dillon
Going all out and spending money made sense last year to convince Hall to stay. Now that he's gone it's better to just let the rebuild take its course, not overpay Pietrangelo by 3-4 million a year and give up an unprotected 1st.

This is the 21-22 season - exactly as you've described here if I'm reading it right.

Agreed that Those two would fit well in Nashville but when considering what those two are worth to the habs I think you need to start with your best prospect, and a first rounder to get some short attention and then add (probably a lot) to entice Bergevin to risk another year without playoff. Good fit for Nashville but it would have to be almost surrealistic to make enough sense for Mtl.</div></div>
Would MTL do it if Tolvanen was added to the trade?

Don't they want to contend now? Isles need that extra offensive firepower to put them over the top. With what they gave up for a 3C in Pageau I don't think this is unreasonable for a top line guy would could potentially score 100 points playing with Barzal.

My reasoning is kind of that the Sabres want to start contending before Eichel wants out. Honestly the Sabres would be happy for Cozens to develop into a Monahan - I just think they'd want Monahan now rather than potential Monahan in the future.
