Make room for young players
Debrincat was a pending RFA when he was moved. Buchnevich is going to be a pending UFA at 29 years old. You definitely aren’t getting the 6th pick for him

Also his xGF/60 is very low (0.015) for someone with 97 points. Hes been like a lot of the Canucks, very lucky this season. He was much better in the 21-22 season in all aspects except defensively.</div></div>
Only habs fans could discredit someone getting 100 points. If this was Slaf ur stance would be dramatically different

Garland is worth his contract. He’s been one of the Canucks best forwards this season and a crucial part of our success. He’s just not putting up as many points as the last couple seasons, but I’d say he’s playing better overall and has been well worth his cap hit this year

A 3rd round pick is kind of an artificial estimate used by Columbus to secure Severson.
I don’t believe Don Sweeney would be adverse to this or giving up a young player instead of a 3rd rounder if he’s willing to give an 8th year to secure Lindholm.
I think going to 7 years is likely the number. Maybe he gives up a secondary prospect to sign him before free agency and know his number
I believe whom they acquire is going to be one of
1. Sign Elias Lindholm
2. Trade Ullmark for Pierre Luc-Dubois and other things
3. Re-Sign Jake DeBrusk

hoglander or bust
Doesn’t make any sense for the Canucks to move Hoglander. Top 10 in 5v5 goals and signed for only 1.1M this year and next. We need cheap scoring options like that
Doubt we’d want Eller included as well

I'd agree for this year but it sounds like Crosby is telling PIT to keep him and I love the idea of a second year of term (IE him or Buchnevich or even Nelson)

Something with Kuzmenko could work but Garland won't be available in season. Potentially in the offseason Garland could be had if we need to create some capspace.

Their pro scouting is terrible G. They were a dumpster fire less than a calendar year ago. Theyre benefitting from a lot of things going right in spite of their owner, GM and scouts being goofy. Its okay. Enjoy it, I hope the canucks ride it all the way to a stanley cup</div></div>
Two years ago this team was being run by a completely different management team; Benning, Gear, Weisbrod.
January 2022 was when the new management took over; Rutherford, Allvin, Castonguay, Grannato.
Under them, our pro scouting has been stupendous: Hronek, Mikheyev, Kuzmenko, Soucy, Bear, Cole, Blueger, Suter, Lafferty, DeSmith, Zadorov, and Joshua all have been hits. All have been signed or traded for in the past two years by the new management team. That's the difference having an excellent core and building real depth around them makes.

Savard may be a bit expensive but it's a good defensive defense. He blocks a lot of shots with his body.

How To Not Make Friends
I don’t know what to tell you but Nemec at 900kx3 years+4 years of RFA control has significantly more value than Pettersson at 4 millx2 years
Even if you’re arguing he’s a 10 million dollar player, that would only be 12 mill in surplus value.
Nemec to provide that would need to be a 5 mill player to provide that over his ELC alone

Summer of Kent
Canucks aren’t paying a 2nd for a center who isn’t an upgrade over Blueger or Suter
Also there’s a very small chance the Canucks move Garland which you mentioned in the trade description. Despite his point totals being down he’s been one of the Canucks best forwards this season
