They really need a shut down, stay at home defenseman.

Thanks! I think JVR just needs a change of scenery where he will be able to play more minutes and get those scoring opportunities. His value is down but he truly wasn't that bad this season.

Huh, the Panthers trade actually makes a lot of sense. I think Toronto's d-core looks pretty good, and it doesn't hurt Florida at all. I like their d-core as well.

He realistically couldn't get more than that from anyone, much less a contender. Signing with Winnipeg though is not a desirable destination for free agents. (No offense, that's just what the anonymous player/agent polls tell us).</div></div>
Not entirely true. The Devils could easily give him $10M, but he wouldn't want to play with them. If Winnipeg can offer him that much, he'll easily sign with them.

Lundqvist earned his money/that contract, now honor it</div></div>
What do you mean "now honor it"? The Rangers should honor the contract? That's not how businesses always work, especially here. He's an extremely expensive backup goaltender. Probably doesn't get any takers on the trade market, and Hank would likely rather not go through the embarrassment of being bought out to end his career. He's done.

What? They desperately need a 2C. I think they'd gladly do that for a guy who put up 59 points in 70 games last year.

Winning the Lottery
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>McRanteskog</b></div><div>Do you honestly think that Lundqvist is healthy but still retires and leaves $8.5million on the table?
Not likely</div></div>
From things I've read and heard about him, he doesn't want to play anywhere else. It's possible the Rangers approach him and say "hey, we're gonna try to trade you and if we can't, we're gonna buy you out." Rather than play for someone else or have his career end with the Rangers paying him to go away, he simply retires and takes a job in the organization. OR he retires from the NHL and goes back to Sweden to play a year with his brother. I don't think it's totally out of the realm of possibility that he just calls it quits.

They're definitely not out of it. I don't think the box score accurately portrays how well they played last night. They don't look like a 12 seed; they look like they belong.

Wow, that actually works really well, and as you said, he has the Hynes connection. Other than that, I think Hall and Duchene would bring out the best in each other on the ice. They could work <strong><em>really</em></strong> well on the same line.

A New Direction
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Book_Hockey</b></div><div>I wouldn't want to give up 2 picks in the top 11 (if arizona loses) to move up two slots. At 7 one of Perfetti/Holtz/Raymond/Rossi will be there, and then at 10 or 11 i would think one of Quinn or Sanderson will be there. I would take a combination of any of those two (ideally Holtz/Sanderson IMO) than Drysdale/whoever is there in the 2nd round.</div></div>
I totally get that, and I like any of those guys at 7. However, what I keep coming back to is that they have virtually no one coming up on the right side and I think Drysdale is so much further ahead of Sanderson that it kind of makes it worth it. They'll have two firsts next year and potentially another if we trade Palms.

While it's not ideal, they're all highly touted prospects. The Devils aren't winning the Cup next year, so why not let the kids get their feet wet and grow together?

Yeah Devils are 7, Coyotes seems to probably be 10 or 11 if they lose the play-in and don't win the lottery.
