Next Season - Build through UFA market
I can’t see Reinhart signing for less than max term. Also with the season he is having and coming off of back to back 30+ goal seasons I can’t see him getting less then $8m per season.

Hawks decline. Not enough incentive to make that deal. The Hawks have Mrazek and one of the kids (Soderblom or Stauber).

Creative, a Scheiffelle Marhews swap would make more sense though if the leafs aren't absolutely certain Mathews will extend. His NMC kicks in July first then he holds all the cards.

Based on Kyle's comments on the Score 670 yesterday, can't see the Hawks signing 6 UFA's or giving any of them deals longer than 2 or 3 years.

In 3 years, Killorn will be 36. I don't think anyone is giving him a long term contract. 3 or 4 years is probably the best he is going to get from any team. Why not come to CHI and play with his old buddy Johnson and a talent like Bedard? I can see both sides of the argument, but I don't think either side is cut and dry.

Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NickC1988</b></div><div>Our D prospects aren't NHL ready. I don't think Korchinski is ready like everyone else believes. He's not great in his own zone yet and given the expected roster next season, he'll be facing a lot of tough minutes, especially in road games. Is it really going to help his development playing against MacKinnon and Rantanen? I think the 24-25 season is where we'll see a lot of prospects make the jump to full time NHL action (Korchinski, Slaggert, Nazar, Rinzell, Commesso). Coincidentally, this will be right around the time for the hawks to begin contending. Perhaps they sign one of the many stars available in the 2024 free agent class.
We will see how it shakes out, but i'm not opposed to them coming together or individually. If they deserve to be here so be it. Part of the reason the hawks were successful in the 2010s was because of how their prospects matured in different years. Byfuglien, Bickell, Shaw, Teravainen. I think KD weaponizes the cap space to acquire picks this season, then weaponizes the picks to acquire RFAs teams can't afford in 2024.</div></div>
I'm fine with what you're saying regarding taking time with prospects, especially Korchinski. Obviously high ceiling, but lets not rush him like Boqvist. I very much agree with you on that. Vlasic isn't a kid and Phillips while drafted lower is only a few months younger. Rockford will still have Del Mastro and Kaiser as their #1/#2. Then plug one of Roos/potentially Allan or vet.

Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dally247</b></div><div>Ah okay. If Matthews and/or Marner do move on, who realistically is a good fit?</div></div>
I believe it will be a full court press to convince Matthews to resign of course, have to get some idea of his intentions before July 1st when his NMC kicks in as well. Trading Marner would not help in keeping Matthews, Marner has to stay if Matthews is going to resign, they are tight. I think that if they do shake up the core Nylander will be the one to go, although I do not agree with it. His contract is the easiest to trade (only a 10 team NTC), his value has never been higher and he should bring a really nice return, especially if he signs an extension with who they trade him to. If the leafs could get willy signed for anything around 9-9.5 million long term I would be all for it though.
Very dangerous offseason for the leafs, the possibility of Matthews walking for no return would be franchise destroying. I do think he will resign though, there won't be many teams able to pay him what he wants, but the leafs are one of them. I am not expecting an 8 year deal though, maybe another 5 year deal, allows him to be a UFA again at 30 for his potential last contract and will maxmize his earnings.

Depends on Chevys summer. If he were to pull off a decent summer and replaces the cancers with players that make the team better and competitive, then I see it. If he shows zero intentions of signing by the draft though, trade him. Can’t risk losing him for nothing

Next Years Caps
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dally247</b></div><div>Yeah I get it... if Wilson was longer term, would it be a consideration?</div></div>
Probably not for Buffalo. He'll be 29 by the end of the season which doesn't really fit in with the rest of Buffalos core group. Tuch and Tage are currently the oldest players I'd consider core for the Sabres right now and Tuch is only 26, Tage is only 25, the rest are generally in that 20 - 23 year old range. He's just a couple years too old for their group.
Wilson, even extended would probably be more the type of player a win now team would be after, not a team like Buffalo who's window may not be for a couple more years if they put it all together. With his style of play he'll probably be on the decline when the Sabres would need him in his prime.

Patty Kane fit
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DefenseFirst</b></div><div>I mean, cmon. This is an utterly ridiculous overpay. You realize we’ve seen kane play this year, right?</div></div>
You've seen Kane play on a depleted roster void of skill players that is losing constantly, and somehow, with almost no real help at the top of the roster, he is still on pace for 60+ points. Go float your narrative in some Bruins echo chamber. This is not an overpay, it's a bunch of players that aren't worth nearly as much as BOS fans seem to think, that play positions CHI doesn't need to fill, plus a cap dump, and a most likely dead last 32nd overall 1st round pick, with an early 3rd going back the other way. CHI declines.
Guy misses 3 games and everyone loses their minds.

Fixing the goalie situation next year
IF LAK want to dump Petersen, it is going to be expensive. So either they eat the salary and cap hit or they give up considerable assets to move him. That offer is not even close even without Soderblom and the 3rd involved. Even if his bonus for next season is already paid, that still leaves $7M in salary left to be paid and $5M in cap space used up for two years. Even if CHI just turns around and buys out his contract that is still almost $5M in salary.

Chicago declines. A mid to late1st alone is what it will take to dump a $5M cap hit the next two seasons. No way do you get a good goalie prospect the Hawks like plus a 3rd rounder back. I'm not sure the Hawks would move Soderblom and a 3rd for a mid to late 1st honestly; forget dumping Petersen

Samo is nice, Deni's stock is low and rapidly falling with his performance this year, and there are no included picks. Considering FLA's pipeline is so depleted and they don't have any first round picks for a while, they should probably just hang onto everything they have. Dumping Bob is gonna be more expensive than it's worth for FLA to do it.

I have a bias towards not blowing a 1st round pick on a pure rental. But I can absolutely see a front office taking that deal under the premise that Toews has had a productive season (assuming it continues) and he has leadership/big game experience.
So, I guess no from me but not a hard no from Colorado necessarily

I have Kirby's value higher than Turcotte, both have dealt with injury tho Dach has more games under his belt and they are the same age.
I think if a team is really after Murphy they will pay a 1st or equivalent. He doesn't really have a bad injury issue, hawks were bad and didn't need to rush him back. He is a solid D man who could fit into virtually any teams top 4.
I also think best centre available is Cooley and he would be my pick at #2 if it were me in charge and we acquired the 2OA.

Gosh. These are so far off.</div></div>
Great work downplaying what Debrincat is while using clever wording to prop up what all the Devils assets are (for the most part, not all). You should work in the media or something, great at spinning words around to spin things to fit your narrative. I can do that too:
So for the multi time 40+ goal scorer all the hawks get is:
- 24 year old middle 6 winger
- young d man who looked like a bust this year
- injury prone B prospect
-#2 OA pick, but in a weaker draft class than normal
-mid/late 2nd round pick next year
