I wish, Dubas has said time and again he won't fire Sullivan

Mark Recchi did exactly this leaving to win the cup in Carolina in '06 and re-signed with the Pens. The stars are aligned

The thing that never happens
His agent hasn't talked about a deal to anyone
I think he'll be sad going away
I think the Pens can offer as much $$$ as anyone else
Just do it

Bringing back G in the off-season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>edeangel84</b></div><div>This never happens and it is not going to happen. Team do not trade expiring UFAs and then resign them. Everyone realizes after the trade that it is time for both parties to move on. Jake is not coming back. This team is done for as a playoff team. This trade was the beginning of the rebuild process. The organization will avoid that word because it is a ticket sales killer but in reality we can start to take apart this roster as long as 87 is still here to sell those tickets.</div></div>
Or they could just do it

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WindyCity2121</b></div><div>Except the fact matheson doesn’t have that value. Bias fan smh. And pens do not even want the dude, so idk why you’re saying they desperately want him. He’s worth MAYBE a 1st, but definitely not a 1st AND a prospect like yager</div></div>
I'd rather have Karlsson than Matheson but if I could go back and get Marino back which was the impetous for wanting to acquire Petry, yes I would take it back 3 years ago. Matheson pairing up with Letang or Karlsson makes no sense in terms of roster construction
Edit: you know who I meant to quote

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>Do you know what capitalism is? We have something that Pens fans desperately want back, something we don't want to and don't have to move. Value is whatever we set it at, if the Pens want Matheson, they will have to pay whatever we say we want and I guarantee, that won't be "fair value" or what they think he is "worth".</div></div>
No one is actually proposing trading to get Matheson back, it doesn't make any sense on this roster. This ACGM is pretending a bunch of trades (including Matheson) didn't happen

Closing out the year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Julius_Freezer</b></div><div>In an ideal world I don't think VAN wants to trade Podz but if Guentzel comes with a reasonable extension I can't see Alvin and JR turning that down, VAN accepts. All these trades are very reasonable but you likely need to attach something minor to Carter and I don't think SJS gives you back your 1st this year, toehrwise this is one of the best ACGMs I've seen, good job!</div></div>
Thanks! Carter really doesn't need to be moved, I assume if Pens are out he might ask to ''get another shot'' somewhere, he is a serviceable 4th liner this season so I figured Philly might be the fit to retire. I think if it costs an asset, they just keep him

Cheap help for you guys on the right side of the D.</div></div>
I think the locker room is fragile enough rn that it's not worth bringing in a guy who has so many issues with teammates

Guentzel is gonna get expensive but carries injury risk</div></div>
Agree they will all be priced in this order. Guentzel only has a small fracture in his finger and is 2 weeks from coming back. He's missed very little time due to injury in his career.

Definitely too much, it's to sign the "he won't sign anywhere but DET crowd". Just highlighting that pens can get Kuznetsov and still spend 9mil on a top 6 UFA

I think so, the FA market seems limited and I think pens are going to struggle to attract talent

Retooling
Ignoring value, Kotkaniemi can't be the Pens' 3rd line center because as they continue to get older, they need a more offensive 3rd line to relieve the burden from Sid and Geno. They need a 20G 30A for 50pts type 3rd line C. I like getting younger but it needs to be a more offensive guy
