Bringing back G in the off-season

His agent hasn't talked about a deal to anyone
I think he'll be sad going away
I think the Pens can offer as much $$$ as anyone else
Just do it</div></div>
Ok that would be interesting if it happens because it would be a first.

Closing out the year
I think Canucks try someone other then Podkolzin (ie. Karlsson+ another piece. I do believe the plan for Podkolzin is to end up on Miller's line with Boeser. Do I think it ends the deal having Podz in it probably not but Van is really going to need him with us being so darn close to the cap. I wonder Karlsson and Mynio would be a good enough replacement to Podkolzin. Karlsson hasn't really got a fair shake on the big team always on the 4th line not getting a chance with any of the skill guys (other than Höglander,)

That's pretty weak value for Pittsburgh. Might be the best they can get, but I sure hope not.

I’d rather move Chychrun. He’s more likely to get us the piece we need and also Chabot has been better lately .

How to reload
From the Post-Gazette today, it seems like there aren't plans to have Ty Smith in the NHL anytime soon:
https://www.post-gazette.com/sports/penguins/2024/02/20/penguins-pipeline-ty-smith-ahl-ready-nhl-wilkes-barre/stories/202402180141
I'm doubtful about them re-signing him this summer.

Multiple Guentzel packages
You can probably have 1 of Kakko or Othmann, but not both.
The only package I have heard of for Guentzel is:
Kaapo Kakko
Barclay Goodrow
Matthew Robertson
2024 1st
2024 4th
2027 2nd

Pens aren't retaining on Smith. You'd have to get a 3rd team in on this to retain.

Ok, I'll bite. If STL were to move Buch, what do you think is the correct type of package? I don't mean team-specific, but just what the make up of the package would look like.

It's a lot further away than anyone other than a Penguins fan thinks.

Would LA dump PLD already
Rob Blake can't afford to admit he made a bad mistake in this trade-and-sign (and maybe he didn't) -- he's got to ride it out and hope that in two or three years DuBois will be an All-Star. Or that the Kings win a Stanley Cup with DuBois on the roster.

Moving Guentzel while still having a Playoff run
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pens3lieve</b></div><div>The best thing long term for the penguins franchise would be to lose some tight games in the next month and fall out of the playoff picture and flip guentzel for a 1st plus a good prospect maybe more depends on how many teams get involved… this does not mean PIT could not resign Jake in the off-season but if we were to trade him I doubt we would… obviously I’d hate to see guentzel leave, he would be a great career penguin, if he stayed in PIT till retirement no one would complain but the sooner the pens start trying to be terrible again and start building for the future the better the next era of penguins hockey will turn out</div></div>
I don't disagree but it is also a scenario where they resign him and in (lets say) 3 years they make some moves, eat salary and trade him. A player like Guentzel can play at a high level into his mid 30s. If you traded him in 3 years (and ate some salary) you could get just as large of a return while also competing for this season and 2 more.
