Guentzel stays creating a scoring 3rd line
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DougieGilmour</b></div><div>That’s pretty telling them at where the two sides are going and why he’s high on trade lists.</div></div>
That's right, his team said that they want to "wait and see" this season. However he made some comments yesterday about how he's finding it really hard talking to new teams and how he hates the fact he'll need new gloves and on and on. So maybe a new development is that he wants to stay, hence this post

Realistic Guentzel Trade
I think Edmonton is going to need you to retain 50%
A "B (or C)" prospect, a pending UFA they won't resign and a late 1st won't convince the pens to trade him
You've managed to make both sides of the trade unrealistic

Vancouver payed a 1st, a guy on pace for 40 pts with a 5.5 cap hit and two third rounder prospects
This is probably too low but VGK can bump up to 1st and maybe add a pick? I see Reilly Smith 2025 cap hit as a dump in this trade

Yeah I'm seeing this as a move after he agrees to re-sign to create more cap flexibility this summer. I agree this is required

Leafs - Wings and Pens
The value is off here but I'm not theoretically opposed to making the salary work by retaining 50% and taking back Samsonov. Pens can then flip Nedeljkovic for good assets and still have a reasonable backup.
Value wise I think it's missing some combination of: Another prospect (or better roster player like Knies), another pick, Connor Timmins

I don't like any of Holloway, Lavoie, or Broberg either so for Dubas he might want to aim elsewhere with a large package like this.</div></div>
I figured Ekholm could switch to the right, I don't see them moving Letang at all with the year he is having. The prospects are underwhelming for sure.
The big advantage here is Pens have less $ committed next season to defense and can add a UFA forward (Like Jake Guentzel lol) + add another cheap forward to not entirely give up this year (Like Kubalik or Duclair)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>Big ask there.
Last year I'd have said Yegor or Zetterlund.
I assume you're looking for a young guy otherwise I'd suggest a hockey trade with toffoli.
Holtz is there but I would be loathe to give him up
Holtz+3rd for Pettersson 50% retained maybe (I'm valuing Pettersson here at 1st+2nd, 2nd+3rd for retention and Holtz at 2 1sts, would be happy to swap in picks or other prospects if you prefer instead of Holtz)
-Graeme Clarke is near NHL ready but not sure that's what you're looking for.
My other solution/suggestion would be a 3 team trade where you can use the assets you get from us to buy a forward you want more if possible. Maybe Lundell could be available for a 1st+2nd, maybe Toffoli+2nd could get ryan mcleod if you retained on toffoli? Just spitballing</div></div>
Yup I think this is it, I'd see Pittsburgh more doing Petterson+ for Holtz than retaining, I know that means an extra move for NJ but pens already need to make another move to replace Petterson, no one else can hold down Letang or Karlsson icetime either than Graves (sometimes)

-He can kill penalties
-Has a lot of experience already playing with marino
-Good defensively
-Has term
But NOT at the expense of a Dawson Mercer.
I thought we'd be done with this after last year with Meier, who was a MUCH better piece than any of the other stuff I've seen asking for Mercer or Mercer++ or even still nemec, and Mercer wasn't even on the table for that, and Holtz (who I'm again seeing being thrown around as if he's just a B prospect), who was only on the table if it was 1 for 1.
But alas, nope</div></div>
Fair assessment on value but if the Pens deal him they need a roster forward with upside
