Carolina? Luck played a huge role. Dobson with two grade A chances and palmieri couldn’t put the puck in an open net.

Yeah it’s wild. Easy penalties to call. That was brutal by palmieri
There’s no shot Carolina is making it out of the 2nd rd playing like this. They’ll still beat the isles but they don’t look anything close to cup contenders

Why would the habs add to a deal for a 7 million mid 30s guy whos below a .5 ppg.
Given contract the vast majority of teams would take armia</div></div>
Lee is one of the best high danger scoring chance creators in the league and is still a good two way forward. He’s roughly a 5 mill dollar player being paid 7 mill. Armia is a 1.5 mill-2 mill dollar player being paid 3.4 mill.

#1 RHD are more valuable than wingers , as good as Tkachuk is. Unless there’s a young elite center coming back in return, isles can’t trade Dobson

Suter and pavelski are both 39 YO. That bumps up the avg age. Stars have a young lineup, their young stars drive their success

Winnipeg doesn’t have a young 1C or any player in the system who profiles as one. Minnesota is a good drafting team but They have no direction. Nashville is a team that will be in the mushy middle or worse for the next 5-10 years.
Carolina is another good one, just not as good as Dallas.
Dallas has a core full of young superstars like Robertson, Hintz, and Heiskanen. Now they have Harley emerging as an elite top pair defenseman and Wyatt Johnston is a 20 YO 30 goal scorer with 1C upside. Stankoven comes in and immediately produces at a top 6 level. They just have a ton of young star power at the most important positions

Lundell is a lot better than Newhook with a higher ceiling. Trading him isn’t a bill zito type of move. Florida has their top pair locked up at least for next year (forsling-ekblad) and Nikola was a good find as well. Florida has no issues finding solid top 4 D. They can trade a pick for a guy like boqvist or Spence to run the PP and play 2nd or 3rd pair

A 1st down the road carries more value. Isles aren’t trading a 1st to get rid of him when he’s still a great middle 6 wing. If they want to get rid of him they’ll just buy him out and save 4.1 mill. Trading him with 1/2 retention would also return positive value

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>draft_em_sign_em_trade_em</b></div><div>I guess you missed reading the poll, to get out of cap hell the Ilses will have to trade at least one player away.
Nelson is the least likely but...can he score 25 goals next season so he trade value at the deadline will be a 1st Rd'er?
As for Tarasenko, well the Ilses were one of the teams considering signing him last summer.</div></div>
Nelson is twice the player Tarasenko is, which is why the isles wouldn’t trade Nelson just to give Tarasenko the same $.
Nelson could score 20 goals next season and he’d still return a 1st rd pick. 3 straight years of 30+ goals

So the way to getting out of cap hell is to trade Nelson half retained for scraps and pay a much worse player in Tarasenko 6 mill?
